I'm sad! :(
Permalink

I've been here, Martina. Just lurking though. I have been working on transcribing a book I wrote YEARS ago from print to my computer (and editing in the process) because I have until the 31 to submit it to a publishing company. Between that and Facebook (which I am totally addicted to, I spend WAY too much time on it), World of Warcraft, trying to keep my kitchen clean, and spending time with the BF, I just haven't responded much.

The only baby I'm "working" on is Kyra, and she hasn't progressed any since the last time I posted about her.

Thank you for asking!!

...because for days I haven't seen anyone here. I miss chattering with you, guys! Come back! I hope everyone is doing okay, though. Pat, where are you? Any news? I hope they're good! Liselle, any new babies you're working on? Mo, did you manage to finish your ooak with a cloth body? Sorry I didn't know how to help you, I'm having the same problem which is why I don't plan to make any more minis with cloth body. I miss you, guys! Hope to read from you soon! Love, Martina

I didn't know you wrote a book! Congrats!
Transcribing can be a pain :) That's why I write everything in MS Word ever since I've got my first computer. Also, my handwriting is terrible. Sometimes even I can't reyd what I wrote :D

As far as gaming goes, I've never played WOW. I just know I'll get addicted. So I'm resisting even to start. Once I was obsessed with the Sims 2, I played them for days like crazy. Then, with Pet Society on FB. Luckilly, that's all behind me. And still I don't have enough time to do everything I'd like. I want to do everything. To write, to take photos, to play my poor guitar, to make jewelry, figurines and dolls. Oh, yes, and to study for my final three exams. But my day is too short. If it were 42 hours a day, it would still be too little time for me!

I also haven't finished any new kits. Started Tayla and Cozy, Tayla still doesn't have all the painting finished, and Cozy is getting his ginger hairs very, very slowly. He will be finished in a month at this rate :)

I still haven't figured out how I am going to attach the limbs yet! Lol. I ordered some bodies a week ago, they arrived today, but are way too small! so my mum is going to whip me up a batch
Just waiting on my clay paint to arrive! Any day now, I'm itching to get painting!!

I will post pictures of my sculpts all painted soon!

P.s. Liselle, my boyfriend plays WOW, I understand how people become addicted to it!

Agreed, Martina!! I LOVE my records. I have a stereo player that looks something like this. Has tape player, CD, radio and record player.

Years ago, I tried to get my ex (who was a musician) to record my record to tape. He wouldn't do it because of all the pops it made. I told him I didn't care, becuase I was gonna listen to them on the record, so what difference did it make if they were recorded? Men, and musicians at that. LOL

@Mo - I'm not sure if I can say this well - did you make that "deep creases" in your limbs like vinyl dolls have to attach to the body? Or are they without them? On my "mini doll" I used a body from an old playdoll. The whole body was stiched except the head "hole", so you I tied the limbs from the inside and put the head last (the only hole in the body where a plastic tie would go).

And I know exactly how you feel. When I started to explore reborning, the first thing that was delivered to me was the hair and needles :D So I took a mini baby (something like itty bitty Berenguer) and started rooting. What a disaster that was, haha! She has hair like those "troll" toys :) My first "playdoll kit" arrived a week later so I rooted it regardless I didn't paint it first. I wanted to do at least something, and couldn't wait to start properly :D

HAHAHA!! You ladies sound like me! When I first got Zoe, I followed the DVD...to a point. Then I wanted to hurry it up and finish it so I could see what it looked it. It wasn't bad....for a first attempt. Then when I got David Michael, I took Zoe apart after discovering all the NEW ways I could paint her. And Martina, don't feel bad for taking so long. David Michael took me over a year to complete, of course that was taking loads of time out to game, school, all other things.

And yes, I am addicted to WoW and Facebook. I want to play WoW so bad right now I can't stand it. But I'm a few sentences away from finishing chapter 3 in my book and I need to get it done so I can feel like I accomplished something today. As far as the book goes, I am SOOOOO glad that I had the foresight to PRINT my pages at some point. Otherwise I would be up a creek right now, because all my info is saved on a 3.5 inch floppy disk. GAH. Do they even MAKE computers that can still read those?? I've been looking into getting a drive that plugs into a USB port, but I don't have the money right now for one. Eventually I need one, because I have alot of info on those disks.

I did write this book using a computer, but that desktop is LONG since gone. This book is well over a dozen years old....

Oooh, I can see we've got similar taste :)
I got my eye on a player very much like yours. Vintage & modern at the same time. Can't wait to get my own place with lots of space to buy & put that baby there. :D

My ex gave me some MP3's that were recorded from an old LP. Simon & Garfunkel collection. The pops and scratches all the way, but it's still one of my favorites to listen and enjoy :)

I didn't make big creases like they have on vinyl doll kits, so I need to figure out a way of attaching them! My mum will help me figure it out!

I know, I want to paint soo bad, I'm waiting for the clay paint so I can cover any moonies, but I just have the urge to start blushing! I will refrain myself though! Haha.

@Mo - you can always blush your dollies with real makeup blush. That's what I did. You gotta use what you can haha :D

@Kim - you're so funny :) Me and my BF were in one store yesterday and we've been shocked to see they still sell floppy disks! And cassettes! Wow! And a few years back, the one that had a DVD burner/reader on their computer was like the coolest kid in town :) I miss my floppies still. At one point in time, not so long ago, everything important to me could fit that 1.4 MB diskette :)

I know, but I get nervous in case I mess up! Haha. I'll just have to learn to be more patient

I was in a charity shop yesterday, I saw like VHS tapes on a shelf, I thought to myself.. Who will buy these? Lol.

LOL. That's why Ebay is FULL of cassette players, record players and VCRs. People still HAVE them. I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about this subject. That's why they still MAKE them, but they're hard to find.

I haven't thought about 1.4 MB diskettes in a LONG time. They were pretty cool weren't they? LOL

Since we're on the subject... LP's rule! My dad just recently fixed our old record player and nothing, not the best "digitally remastered sound" on the world compares with the gentle cracking of a 20 year old record. Still sounds the best to me! :)

Oh man... I knew I was missing out on some good conversations in here while I was away :(
A book? Wow thats the koolest ever!

With the clay dolls you can use whatever you want on them, like people blush. The clay sculpts are not so particular about things like heat set or ADP paints. I know a lot of sculptors that just use some blush on them. But then they aren't as detailed either. I'm excited for you to get your clay paint, don't forget to bake it lol.

I have lots of old LP's and I also have a turn-table to play them on, although not often enough. And I would be the one buying the VHS hahaha, we have 4 VCR's in our house, 2 DVD players hahaha. All of our stuff is so old... if a robber came in to take our stuff first he would rof, then after that he would actually give us stuff! hahaha. Mind you it's old stuff and not considered antiques :o

My kids are funny... they want us to sell our lp's and if we are listening to them when they come over the just say we are listening to "oldies but moldies" in stead of "oldies but goodies" as the expression goes.
