I'm so Sorry
Permalink

Hi everyone one, I'm so sorry I didn't get on here and wish you a Happy Xmas ans a Great New Year. But I do hope you all had one. There has been a lot of tragic things happening arround this time of year over here, if we didn't have little grandchildren believing in Santa Clause, I think I could give it a miss for awhile. I just get over Xmas and in Jan I have 5 B'days and our Anniversary. Bit much to much to cope with in this financial time that seems to be effecting the whole world. Not so much me, as I shop for Xmas most of the year when sales are on. Have already started for this year. But I must admit for the few minutes it takes them to rip the paper off and open one present and then the next one, it doesn't look very good. Gee, I used to be excited when my Nana gave me a couple of pairs of bought undies, I treasured them and still remember getting them. These days I have to take photo's of the presents so I can show them when they are older that that is what they where given, and I had to pay Santa to deliver them. Apart from my gripe, I hope you all had a great time over the festive time.  XXXXX   June

I think Christmas just isn't what it used to be. At least for me, it has lost its charm a long time ago. Global consumerism has spoiled us all, thought us to give and expect expensive gifts. So, I decided that this year I won't BUY anything to anyone. Everyone I know got a handmade piece of jewelry from me, a ring, a necklace, a figurine... even my grandparents. And everyone seemed pleased since I asked them all what they want and like. I didn't expect presents as well, so I didn't feel disappointed at all. Christmas is and should be about family and friends, about spending time together and enjoying good company. I had fun for Christmas - there weren't many presents, but I enjoyed being with my parents and grandparents. Since I live in another town, I don't see them as often as I would like. It was nice :)

I don't want anything anymore, I have all I need and more. At our age we have had most of the things we needed in life, now all we need is good health. We have to have a split Xmas as my sons ex isn't very cooperative, it is all about her and her family, so when we can't all be together, I realy don't seem to see much point in it. I gave my three girls 25/30 yr old corning ware that I had bought for my mother and myself, and hand made embroided bears that where given to me in 1990. I think at my age I will be giving them things I treasure and no longer use. If they aren't happy with it they can regift it.When I bought the Cornigware it wasn't that expensive but to replace what I gave them would be about $80 Australian. It's like easter, the kids dont just get and easter egg, they have to have a present also. NOT this year. XXXXX June.

I'm sorry you weren't all together for Christmas :(
But what you said about handmade things... I believe your daughters will treasure them and never regift them, except to their own kids :)

Making presents and giving them to family is WAY better than anything you can buy.

Like my daughter and me: I gave her Connor, and she gave me a handmade bracelet and a painting. LOVE them!

Anyway, nice to see you back June. Now if we could just get everyone else back.

I agree with you all, my husband and I were just talking about christmas not being the same, we said we were not buying anyone gifts next year except our 2 year old grandson, our parents have everything, I get what I want all year long, so we are gonna tell our son and daugther-n-law not to buy us anything, our daugther never does, my mom buys for the great-grands my mother-in-law does'nt give gifts,i I appreciate  the gifts but  our son spends to much , I just like getting together and having fun with family members.

Sorry I wasn't here either :(
Work has been crazy! All the hours... I'm part time and working full time hours. And most days before and a few days after Christmas were like a shark feeding frenzy! HA! Working all those hours, working for people that didn't or coculdn't come in... but at least most of the clients were pretty kool and not crabby. I worked so many hours that I just want to detatch my feet at the ankles and put on mushy marshmallow feet hahaha. Even when I had a day off I was so exhausted I couldn't think so I didn't post. So I really feel bad about not being in here and hoping you will all forgive me. And I hope you all had a nice Christmas season. I am wishing everyone a belated Happy, healthy, and prosperus New Year 2012! (and a lot less stress and drama) lol.

My youngest daughter Amanda got engaged on Christmas Day to her best friend of 5 years. All she wanted for Christmas was a pair of winter boots, which we got her. So I got/made her a little jewelry that she loves to make it seem like more presents under the tree, and we got her a watch (nice to work for a jewelry store and get good deals!). My oldest daughter Dani made us arm warmers and hats, etc. my hat is too small but I love it anyway. She made dad a tie pillow with tractors on it, he loves it.  I got a jewelry book online from hubby and a 1 hour massage coupon which I think I will schedual in for very soon (when work lets up some lol). I got baby Mara Tess lots of stuff though, like teething rings, colorful bowls with matching spoons, a few toys and a gift card for Dani to buy her stuff she needs in Colorado, saves on shipping). As far as the spendy or lots of boughten gifts this year for Christmas...Not this year though. I agree, how about handcrafted gifts that are from the heart!! I am making baby Mara Tess her very first dolly. A preemie, probably Missy, not weighted though, just stuffed. And a sleep outfit cause she'll probably drool and spit up on her lol. Definately rooted hair, or maybe just bald lol. And I hope to be able to continue with my "Father Christmas" so he'll be done this Fall! hahaha
