Has this happened to anyone? I'm so saddend and don't know what to do.....A woman bought my baby and now wants a refund. My AA baby I sold in Dec was bought by a woman on Ebay that when receiving her said she was beautiful, and as expected. She told me not to worry that she would leave me positive feedback and that I did a great job to keep it up because I'm good at it. She left me positive feedback. She writes me asking if she can add more hair to the doll (it's my avatar baby btw), I say yes and tell her how.
Then she says she didn't get the barette can i send it. I tell her to check the box maybe it shifted during shipping. Later she says her daughter found it.
Two weeks later, she emails me saying there is a problem...the baby's shoulders are loose or empty and that the neck or chest area lacks stuffing. Then she asks if she can add more stuffing.
Well of course I'm thrown for a loop because I know the baby had plenty of stuffing and if you all have seen her pics in the Artists Showcase have seen that she has stuffing. So I tell her she can add stuffing and how to do it.
Well, next thing I know I'm getting a email from PayPal that she opened a case against me! WTH! She is claiming the doll is not as expected/described and that it is damaged with empty shoulders, flopping arms and head and wants a full refund. OMGoodness what do I do? Has anyone been through this?
I responded and posted copies of the emails she sent me that she was happy with the baby and that she said she was as expected. I also let them know that the auction said "refunds not accepted". The fact that she said her daughter found the barette makes me think she bought her for her daughter and she damaged her and now she wants her money back. I am so floored. I can't believe this woman is doing this.
After I responded by posting copies of the emails she sent me now she wants less than a quarter of her refund. I still don't want to give it. I did not sell her a damaged baby and don't want to give her money and she keeps the baby OR she ships me back a damaged baby and I pay her for it?
If you have the emails that said she wanted to know if she could add the ahir and add stuffing, I would send that as well, because it shows her INTENT to alter the doll that you sent! You cannot be responsible for any buyer altering your dolls. I would start listing that "I am not responsible for any alterations made to this doll after it is purchased from me." Da*n! That Pi**es me off! Makes me mad for you, makes me mad for the doll world to have to deal with dishonest people! So sorry! Stick to your guns!I wouldn't give her a da*n cent!
I also think Paypal should see the pictures of the doll and copy her feedback to you as well, so they can see a pettern that she altered it as it was fabulous when she got it! I am seething, I am sorry! My inner monster has come out over this! PM me her Ebay ID so I can add her to my blocked members list, please, thanks!Georgiaga
BTW- I voted that she is wacked and needs to live with her purchase, but I also wanted to vote for Fight Back...maybe combine those two choices as we know she's wacked!LOL!
Georgia, I tried to pick those to but was only allowed to pick 1 so I picked to fight back )emily deffinatly respond because if you don't,,,, I think she can report you ? Wait !!! She already did
if she was happy with the baby to start with and left positive feedback, why was she trying to add more hair and stuffing, i think shes probably trying to pull a fast one or has tried to alter the baby to resell, i wouldn't give her anything, send the emails to paypal and your pictures and hopefully they will see what she has done and close the case....good luck x

Thank you all so much! You know I didn't even think of her altering the doll to resell it! OMGoodness!!!!! Now I'm really angry! Thinking about it now, perhaps I'll ask her for pics of the baby now. I want to see what she's talking about because I know what condition she was in when I sold her.
Sending pics to PayPal is a great idea, I just have to figure out how?
I have compiled all the emails together on one document and plan to submit it when I escalate it to a claim. Wow....alter. Yeah she did ask to add more hair....I wonder if she actually did?
Oh and I would combine the two options to vote but don't know how now that it is posted

emily , i would also call ebay and speak to a warm body about this claim, i've found them to be very helpful. but no way would i refund her money.......she loved the baby and now it sucks, miss scam artist. please post this nuts ebay id so we can block her.........sage
Someone else in our forum had that issue. It wasn't that the person asked to alter it or anything, and they did NOT wait two weeks after saying they loved it to ask for a refund. But they wanted a full refund, we think probably buyers remorse. I also state my return policy as "no refunds" and that IF the doll is damaged then I will repair it and send it back to the buyer but in no way do they get 1. their money back, or 2. a partial refund.
This woman clearly is trying to pull the wool over your eyes. She said it was good, wanted to add hair, then wanted to add stuffing! I'm sorry, if she wanted to alter it in any way, shape, or form, it was hers to keep! I think it's rediculous for her to cry to paypal when if there was ANYTHING wrong with the doll, she should have contacted you right away within 24 hours letting you know. Instead, she wanted to make changes. NO, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WOULD I REFUND HER ANYTHING!
If it were me, "I" would file a counter-claim against her. I suppose paypal has your money tied up already? I heard they keep it for a while just in case. But I'm not sure about that.
Anyway, yes, tell them the story, send pics (or ask them how) and make sure they understand she was fine with the doll (in her communication with you) and that she specifically, on 2 occassions asked if "she" could make alterations. I guess in hind-site, I would have told her... "it's your doll, you can do whatever you want with it". I know you were trying to be helpful by telling her how to do the stuff she asked you about, and I'm sorry you have to go through this. But I'm hoping paypal will be better than evilbay about the seller thing. Evilbay is allll about the buyer. Paypal should be better :) HUGS hun, keep us posted! :D
First of all I am truly sorry to hear that you are having to deal with such a rotten situation.
I have to say that I agree with the advice and comments that I have read so far. It is a shame people do things like this. It all sounds very underhanded to me.
You stick to your guns, DO NOT give her a refund on a doll she supposedly loved and then decided to alter. If she didn't like the doll she should have said so right away, even so she read your policy about no refunds. She knew what she was getting into when she decided to buy. People will try their best to get their money back when they are desperate. It's just plain wrong. It isn't your fault she has either changed her mind or destroyed the doll. You know you sent her a doll in excellent condition. So rest your mind.
I certainly hope everyting works out for you, because it seems to me that this lady has nothing standing in her favor. I really wish you best of luck

AND...if she follows up with negative feedback...you can follow-up her follow-up with why you will never sell to her again! That way no one gets wrong info of you as a seller...but I think once feedback is left it's done unless it's negative in the first place, then you can follow-up with your take. She left you positive feedback to begin with already, right? Stick to your guns...YES
She may have not messed her up ........I don't know why she wants a refund. The part where she says not to worry she'll leave positive feedback sounds a little scechy to me !!!!! Did she leave good feedback ? Stay in there and stay safe dear :)

Thank you all soooooo much! You are all absolutely right! I heard from her again today and she claims that she is not saying I sent her a damaged doll. What!!??? Soo wth is she saying? Omgoodness this lady is truly out there. Then she goes on to say she was happy with her when she got her but not when she undressed her and that she handled her as a newborn baby. Then she asks if there is anything I'm willing to do to help her feel at ease with her purchase. She says she doesn't want to send the doll back and forth in the mail and that is why she is asking for a discount or partial refund. She ends with that is her last attempt and if I don't want to do that then let the chips fall where they may and to let her know what i decide.
This is what I said in response:
"I do not want to argue with you. However, what you are accusing me of is serious business. You are saying that the doll I sent you had empty or loose shoulders/arms and empty flopping chest. That was just not true, plain and simple. When you received her you immediately wanted to make alterations to her by adding more hair. I do not know if you had or not but if you don't mind, I'd appreciate it if you would take some clear up-close pictures of the damage you are claiming and send them to me. I would like to see what you are talking about because as I've said previously, she was well stuffed and nothing was wrong with her. You can send the pictures to my email at noantum@gmail.com. At this time I stand by my policy of returns not accepted. I am not going to give a discount or partial refund for a doll that was sold in perfect condition. Not to mention I don't know if you had gone ahead and made alterations to her by adding more hair or stuffing. You stated she was beautiful and as expected. You even had a day to think about it before you left feedback and still you left positive feedback and said I had done good. All your actions show you were quite satisfied with your purchase. I will not give a discount or refund when the terms were stated before you purchased her, were well satisfied, and had her for almost two weeks in your hands before claiming she was damaged. I do sincerely hope you have a good night. Kindest regards, "
Oh man! The nerve of her! I think in addition to this I'm going to do as you suggested and call PayPal tomorrow and see if I can send them some pics. I was going to post them in my response but I figured that would give her a heads up and then she can try to cover-up in some way.
She has already left positive feedback so that was good. She also claims she didn't know how to do the alterations and so didn't do any. Yeah well, I'm sure she won't mind sending me some pictures of the so-called damage then.
As for evilbay, I did call them and they said I did everything right and if they could they would have taken care of it. However, she opened the case with Paypal so it is now up to them. When I talked to a live person at PayPal he too said not to worry because I had done everything I could and since she said she was happy with the doll then that's it. But he said for now to still try and work it out with her first and in 7 days (Jan 24th) if we haven't come to an agreement, I can escalate it to a claim. I definately plan to because yes, they do have a nice hold on my money.
Now I just need to know how to send them some pictures to show them there was no problem with the doll to begin with
If you want her member id pm me as I don't know if I can post it here.
I think your response was PERFECT AND TO THE POINT AND ULTIMATELY VERY BUSINESS-LIKE AND NOT IN ANYWAY RUDE!
She will think twice now as you stood up for yourself and she couldn't bully you into just giving in to make her go away. Save that email as well! The one she just sent you! Keep a folder in your email with all her documentations and yours back and forth and keep it for a year!
She will not take pics and now that you asked for them...I bet you anything she drops the case as she's not going to win this. She probably does this to most of her sellers to see who will be weak and cave just to make her go away, and maybe she gets 90% of her money back from sellers, but not you! She will back off, I'm sure. Keep us posted in the next 7 days! I wish you luck and I think we are all on board with you here! Georgia
I just had a few thoughts occur to me that may or may not be helpful, either way I thought I would post them.
Have you checked what her feedback is like on ebay? Is she a seller too? Or just a customer? Either way she should have feedback. It might be nice to know if she has had complaints against her before.
About sending pictures to paypal, can they look at your original listing for the doll? I bet they can if it is still accessible. Just an idea...
I'm still cheering for you, and hope she will just drop the matter cold when she realises that she has nothing to go on.

I just wanted to post again because I went to the artist gallery and had a 'peek' at your baby...........she is gorgeous, and I am truly not just saying that to make you feel better ( and I hope it doesn't make you feel worse either, considering the situation and how hard I can tell you worked on her).
This whole situation just really leaves a bad taste in my mouth

knitting, crocheting, and making dolls.....now that's what I call a good time!
Hello Ladies, Well I've spoken to PayPal this morning. I asked them how can I send pics to them to prove that the baby was as described. He told me there is no way I can send them pics. He said she can't send pics either. So since he was new to the situation I told him very briefly why I wanted to send pics.
He said looking at the long replies (my answers and copies of our email correspondences) he said I'm in a very good position. He said "You know...." (reading some of the emails) "You did everything right. And you know what....don't even escalate it. Let her be the one to escalate it." He was saying that oh yeah he sees what's going on and not to worry because I'm in a very good position with this.
He said he doubts that she will even escalate this with all that was there. But, that if she does, they can look at my ebay auction to see the pictures.
That sounds well and fine but he said it could be 20 DAYS from the 17th! Oh man that's a long time to tie up my money with her foolishness!
I'm telling you....if there were a way to let everyone know what kind of buyer she is, I surely would do that when this is all finished
Pat, can I post her member ID here so no one else will be duped by her? I would really hate for anyone else to go through this mess.
Well I'm glad its working out for you hun. No, sorry, you can't post her id here but you did say in your posts here that people can pm you for that. We already had that happen once and it caused alll sorts of drama. So I think like Kim said, post it on awraf in full, and just pm people here with it. You can pm it to me please. I am thinking about putting a baby on evilbay and want to block her before anything happens like what happed to you with her.
Thanks for your understanding about posting her id here hun. Keep us up to date! HUGS
Are you all ready for this one???? I did receive a message from her today. This is what it said:
"I have not made any alterations, to the doll. Just because i asked about it, does not mean i made alterations. I do not know how, so why would i take an expensive doll and attempt to add hair to her. I would actually pay someone with experience to do something like that... And i would never argue with you about anything. I do not mean to make it seem like that. That is why i bought it to your attention about what i saw, after removing her clothing. So please stop accusing me of making changes to the doll,Thats just not true. Thank you for your time."
Then she comes and adds another post:
"I forgot to add something else, When i received the doll, You listed her as New, She did not appear to be brand new. But that did not bother me, so i did not mention it. Its just the fact of being accused of alterating her, when i did not do any such thing. I only asked you about it. I am sorry this went as far as it has. I mention she had no head control at all. I did not say you sold me a damaged doll, She could of got injured during shipping. Or thats just the way she was made. I describe it as loose. I honestly do like her, she just needs something more... Please forgive me if i seem ungrateful for anything...I really just wanted to settle this in a different way, and not offend anyone. Have a good day."
My response:
"Never in my life have I encountered a situation like this. Never. As for adding more hair...let me refresh your memory:
(copy of her email message that she wanted to add more hair) "....one more thing, i was thinking about adding a little more hair on her, is that possible? ....."
My response con't:
"bviously you had the intention of altering her, whether you did or not I do not know. But this is clear intent to alter her. My response was:"
(and I copied my response from my email which told her she could do it and how)
I went on to tell her that she was way out there now with her accusations and I would appreciate it if she would send me the pictures I requested. Wow, I tell you I have never in my life encountered someone like that. Now even going as far as saying the doll wasn't new! Sad woman she is.
Well as of last night she escalated it to a claim! Paypal told me we had to wait seven days to do that but she chose last night. She is accusing me of he said she said. OMGoodness! I asked her to send me pictures....she sends me an email saying the doll was not brand new as described. I told her that was obsurd that the doll was finished being created a few days before auction. I also told her her story seems to keep changing as time goes by. Then I politely asked to to send me the clear up-close pictures of the damage she was claiming. Well I guess she doesn't want to do she escalated the dispute to a claim. I sent in my explanation along with some clear up-close pictures so PayPal can see the doll was in perfect condition. Well, we'll see what happens. I'm just so glad I don't have to deal with anymore emails or responses from her.
Well hun, she does have your e-mail addy! Ok nevermind. I hope this will be all over for you soon and you'll get your money unlocked. She seems to be irrational and indecisive. Paypal will see that and side with you as they have so far. Don't block her e-mail until after this is over cause she might say something else that will cement your case against her. Used baby indeed! She has no idea what she's spouting about. I have the pm you sent me so when/if I put anything on evilbay I'll know to block this... person.
That crazy B***h! I hope they find for you! If they don't it's because they are only behind the buyer, but I hope that is not true as it's the sellers that keep people buying! yes, I would wait until all is done and then block her in your email after a ruling is in. Let us know. I know we are all here rooting for YOU!G
Thanks, Ashley for the youtube link to the baby! She's a beauty and I know it's harder to do great AA skintone and I won't even consider trying it until I get some feel for this and practice in on several light skin dolls first! If this is the actual doll we are all sqwaking about from the evil buyer on ebay, then she has several screws loose as this doll is great! It needs no more hair ! It's great the way it is! I am so upset about this for you, Noantum! I am hoping things go your way very fast! Maybe the fact that she escalated it will get it OVER WITH faster ! That could be a good thing...You got some really great comments on this baby on the youtube thing, so just focus on those who have sense and let the rest just go! I know that's easy for me to say, but I don't know what else you can do...you are doing all you can and you GO GIRL!
