These are dresses and cloths that we have made over the years, a lot of my dolls where made before digital camera's where out, so all I have are photo's in albums. This will show you how easy it is to dress babies and dolls in simple clothing and them stillbe grand champions. I haven't been able to getonto the other forum today it must be doing reno's. XXXXX June.
Yes Pat, we do have a lot in common, only thing is I'm not smart enough to go back to school and study, I learn by looking at pictures. I wouldn't be able to make the jewelery that you are making, which I might add is sooooooo beautiful, I have to buy mine or get it given to me. As for our doll making, reborn art and sewing, we have a very lot in common. To bad we live worlds apart. Honey, the little gitl with the bow in her hair is,Kara Lyn mold by Donna Ru Bert sculpt. The dress all need new eastic, but instead as I go though each one I will be changing it to ribbon. The elastic made today doesn't last, so is a wast of time, just like the clear plastic press studs. I have hundreds oif patterns but if I don't have the one I want, I adapt patterns to suit. I made the pattern for all the 39"Brides from a Bridel Book, thats where I get a lot of inspiration, from Bridel, Childrensand Babies cloth Mags and another great book which cost me $60 au was one of Hildergard Gunzel, I think the book is Doll Dreams published by P&S. She was born in 1945 and has awards for Doty of Excellence and Doll of the year-USA awarded in 1964. I pretty sure I have another of her book as she does exclusive one offs, ( I think it is some thing with Enchanted in the tital, but as I still have a lot of unpacking to do, I have not come accross it,in it she uses a lot of slik, knitted, and gipure, and cotton lace( gipure Do spell Chel have written it as it sounds.) XXXXX June.
cool and the one im talking about is the one on the floor sitting in the little chair in the last picture shes like the last doll on the floor i think shes laughing and has a ribbin in her lap and is holding a toy .................. and the one i think you thought i was talking about is to cute cute cute you are sooooooo good :)
pat, your doll reminds me of this LM doll just a toddler version (im a collector :) http://mycollection.middleton-doll.com/collection/product_detail.php/pid=2356~subid=216/index.html
Pat's dolls name is Shay and she is by Donna Ru Bert she was sculped after her daughter. I have made abot 5 of her, she is my al time favourite in toddler?little girls. The one in the little chair is LACEY by Cindy Machner Rolf. As for all her sculps, they are all similar and all just beautifull cheeky little girls. Have a look at the molds for those two sculpters, you will get a clear picture of them. XXXXX June.
The one in the pink is Kimmie by Cindy Marchner Rolf, the other one is Flossie by Donna Rubert. I realy like the simple dressing, it only needs a touch of lace to make something special, Flossie is dressed in sheer curtain material with satin peticoat. I'm not a great lover of frills, some gathered lace is nice. There is a simple pattern book with different sizes which I have yet to find, so that you can trace it , it has different variations of styles. will keep you updated.
Ashley, as June said, my doll is Shay by Donna RuBert. She is 28" sitting, has porcelain 3/4 legs, 1/3 arms, head, and shoulderplate. She wears a size 3 real baby shoe. When I went to buy her shoes I took her leg with me. The shoe guy almost fell over! She took first place, highest points blue ribbon. It came down to me and another artist for that and we were extremely close on points. They took off her dress, checked the body/shoulderplate joining, and even took off her glued on wig! I won because I cleaned and smoothed the seam that went around her head from the porcelain mold. Some feel that because no one sees the head under the wig that they can get away with not cleaning it. I don't do that. It made the difference in first or second place!
She even has an armature inside (like a skeleton) that I made from scratch, and her dress I custom made just for her. I left off the 2nd and 3rd row of frills as I thought it too much for her. Sorry to go on about her but she was only the 2nd porcelain I had ever made. She is in my private collection (which is very small).
Wow that's great ! I have seen like bend wire things you put in reborns ? And you made a skeleton sorta thing out of scratch! Hahahha can you imagin what that shoe guy was thinking when you brought a leg lol ! Every little detail counts in this story you got 1st !!
Well, Buffington, you deserved to win and your attention to detail was recognized by the judges! What a great feeling that was, right?clap:
I wish I could do porcelain the most...oh well...anyway, what about making a large vinyl girl lie that size or at least 20"? Any suggestions for me for kits? I wnat ot do one with a fab wig and great eyes!
Thank you for the compliments on my Shay. Between her and the dress, it took me 6 months to make her. I used sillicone eyes on her instead of Secrist Real eyes (which I used for all my other porcelains).
The wire armature inside that I created was from bundled phone wire about as big around as a nickle. And smaller singles. I also made her bodyslip from scratch. June knows about those. Lots of pieces lol. I put the bandage on her knee and people were talking about it. hehehe I said she was a tom-boy and was climbing a tree. And that I made her wear a dress. lol
Secrist has their 30" toddlers. A 20" as you listed in your post is smaller than their full term babies which are 22". But take a look on the website at the 30". They are cute. And they have wigs especially made for them. www.secristdolls.com
