Slow Adoptions

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone is in good health and spirits. As the holiday season approaches I wonder how everyone fares with their adoptions. I was able to put a baby up for adoption on ebay and she found a home. I was very pleased, BUT I'm having a hard time with my boy. Is anyone else having a hard time? and is this typical for trying to get your babies adopted at this time of year? I held off thinking that it might be better to wait until now but I feel that may not be the case. Instead of the myriad of babies on ebay, I guess we're faced with EVERYTHING else during Christmas and the upcoming Black Friday. Oh I don't even want to think about that.no

I was thinking of putting 1 or 2 of my babies up for adoption for Christmas. 1 boy, 1 girl. Used to be boys went pretty quickly as there weren't as many of them up. Don't think so any more.
It's possible that all the other stuff interferes right now, especially with black Friday but if someone is intent on looking for a doll that's usually what they do IMHO. So I"m not sure. We'll have to see I guess. I'm hoping to have one of my babies on evilbay on Sat or Sun.

I know... Christmas is coming WAAAAAYYYYYY too fast for me! YIKES!

smile Evilbay lol I like that one, so funny hehehe Yes Christmas is coming too fast. Each day my kids remind me what they'd like and seem to keep adding things to the list. Oh dear, don't know how that'll work out. But my boy did finally sell so that was good. However, I was thinking it was all the competition of Christmas shopping. I do think your right though, if someone really wants the baby, they'll buy. How did you make out with your babies? Did you get to put one of them up?

Sorry to hear of you FIL's passing..... "Pleasant distractio of painting" indeed it is. For the last couple of days I've been trying to start on my AA baby. Still haven't but I will definately try tonight. It does sooth my mind. When I'm home during the day it is so peaceful to work on the babiesaww

thank you. Yes painting is a such a nice way to lose yourself so to speak. I find it very calming but just no time right now. Good luck on your AA baby can't wait to see some pictures :)

My sincere condolenced on your FIL Tina :(

I think it's a pleasant distraction too. Even when others in my home are doing their own thing and it's quiet. I like to slow pounce the colors, not go fast like a madwoman (which I have been known to be hehehe).

I have not put my babies on yet, I have to take some more pics. I am hoping to get at least $300 for them. We'll see how THAT goes. I have them on my etsy but no takers. People heart them but no buys. :( Oh well. I wanted to get done with school and then put them on because finals are really hard for me but if I get some time...

Hello Ladies, I hope you are doing well. Pat how are your babies doing? I have a girl who is still waiting. Plenty of bidders and watchers but no one is bidding the amout I hope for....I'm also working on my AA baby and well....she's being difficult right now. Her skin tone is coming alone but she's not turning out as dark as I'd like. I am happy with the way she is looking, she's just not what I had invisioned. Not to mention she's too orangey so tomorrow I'm going to give her a "blue bath" and see what happens. so annoyed, it's been a week and a half and I'm still paintinghmm I've been so busy that the last couple of days I made myself stop and paint her some more. Just seems that she has tons of layers and not quite there yetyawn

Hi Emily. My babies are in limbo right now. I haven't posted them anywhere other than Etsy. They don't do well there. Same ones have been up several times.
I have my 2 finals at college this week (1 tomorrow and 1 Wed) so after that it's all over. And I'm not taking any classes next semester, need a break (except for 1 jewelry 4 Saturdays class).
I'm hoping to get my "shop" cleared out so I can start over in there. I got 2 full kitchen cabinets that have to be cleaned out (paints, crafts, etc) so I can move them to the other end of the room, and then just "stuff" and fabric to deal with. I have to find a place for my kits!!! I've got them coming out of my ears! Need to have a holiday sale I guess :D

Nice that you're working on your AA. To get rid of the orange though it should be green not blue that you use. Check out your color wheel and also "orange" under search forum. :)

Sometimes, even though we have a "look" in mind for our babies, our hands have their own mind of how they will look. Many have had that issue in both painting and sculpting. A lot of artists will say "that's not how I thought it would look" or "that wasn't the look I was going for", etc. So you're not alone on that one.

If she's not dark enough, try a darker fleshtone (if there is one) and try the mottling technique with it, see if that works. Also if you have the Special Reborn Encyclopedia, there is a different method of painting AA's in there. It's had good results. I wouldn't worry about how many layers you put on as long as its not looking like caked on paint. That's why I love the Genesis. :)
