Help- I have made a beautiful little Chloe reborn baby- 10 inches- but I can't find anywhere on the internet to know what she is worth. She is a limited edition. Anyone have an idea what I should charge?? thanks
I always charge what I normally would when selling a baby. About 1 1/2 to 2 times the material it cost me. Don't under sell yourself because she's smaller the same amount of work goes into them no matter the size (at least thats what I've found to be true) The bodies are just as expensive and the larger ones and so are the kits.
Yep, Tina is right! Most people think because something is smaller it should cost less but they don't realize that it takes just as much if not MORE time and effort to create something smaller. So yes as a general rule... 1 1/2 - 2 times more than YOUR cost. We usually never get paid for our labor but you can try to add that in if you like. :)
I never under sell my work, if someone doesn't want to pay the price on it, I say, That's OK, I'm happy to take her home. In a polite way of course. XXXXXX June.
I agree June. I never discount my babies (my art) for anyone. If I want to lower the price because it's not selling at the top price or I've had it in stock for a long time, that's one thing. but to give a deal because someone doesn't want to pay that price, well... that's a horse of a different color. I am not a flea market, charity, etc. I too tell them nicely if they ask.
Sometimes I ask them "why are you asking me to lower the price?" and sometimes they'll say "because I don't have that much money". I understand that, I don't either which is why I "make" things to sell. But sometimes I ask that same question and they'll say "that's way too much for that doll" to which I might say... well I worked hard to create it and I've seen the same dolls go for over $4600.00! So I'm relatively low in pricing. And then smile :)
Sometimes all you can do is put on your customer service face and :)
