    Hi Everyone,

This is a head I'm working on from BB . I'm having a lot of trouble rooting. Please take a look and tell me what you think.  I pulled the hair out once what I had done because I didn't like it. Poor baby! Any advice I  would be greatful !!! As I 've said before I love these babies and I really want to get this right.  The poor babies do to they want to wear hats all the time. HA! HA!  Thank-you everyone for any advice.
                             Have a Good day !!!!

Ok hard to really see in the pictures but it looks like you may be rooting the front in the wrong direction unless this was your intent. Your needle should be point towards the back of the head at an angle. Hope that made sense. It's hard for me to explain things without showing them. I really can't see anything wrong with the back.

The only thing I can see and you may be doing it for a reason.. but I think your rooting the front in the wrong direction. That's all I can see that for right now. The back is looking good... Hope this helps. And I can't wait to see the finished baby!

Thanks for your advice. Another  question. Is that also why the needle isn't picking up hardly anything ? It seems to be taking forever to do a two spot.  Thanks again everyone.

I switch back and forth between the german forked 42/43 and the 40 with 1 barb. Both in my opinion achieve basically the same goal, applying one or two strands at a time you just have to be careful to use small amount of mohair with the 40/1 to insure it picks up one or two only. I have noticed what you saying about picking up hairs but this tends to apply to both needles at times. Sometimes it has to do with the mohair. If it's not a good quailty I have a hard time picking up strands, or your just not holding the needle in the correct direction to pick them up. If your using the forked needle, look for the groove at the tip of the needle in order to position the needle/hair to grab and root. Hmm sorry if that doesn't make sense, another way is to do a few test spots to get your "sweet spot" and mark it. Lastly, I received a batch of "duds" german forked needles that barely had a groove in the tip, It just did not pick of hairs and left alot of holes =( I purchased more barbless forked german needles and now have no problem at all. So they must have been defective.

BnB had a 43g needle with 3 barbs.  It is very fine and only picks up a hair or two, but seems to take much longer to root than the German forked needles.  Unfortunately, Elena doesn't seem to have re-opened BnB yet, and that's the only place I found that sells that size needle.

I've had the same problem with defective forked needles as Tina described.  One container had needles that just didn't pick up the hairs so there's always a possibility that the user is doing everything right and the needle itself is the problem.
