My Janine by Strydom is an extremely beautiful faces baby but my Paige by Edenholm is kind of homely..but in a cute way..I nearly used the similar painting methods..but my Paige gets so many more compliments...Janine gets none
Same for my Alicia by Gutswiller who is gorgeous but my Charlotte by Gutswiller is not as cute...but Charlotte is what really attracts the people I've shown my babies to...
Can anyone explain? Must I be comitted to painting only less attractive babies and leave the pretty babies(sculpts) alone?
Nope can't explain it but know what your talking about. The ones I think OMG How horrible they look always seem to sell and the ones I think are the cutest little buttons I relist over and over it seems.
Maybe it's like the Cabbage Patch Kid syndrome. Not sure if there's actually a syndrome by that name, but the reaction to the vintage CPKs is similar to what you describe. It seems like the uglier they are, the cuter people think they are.

I hated Cabbage Patch Kids and then my Eldest daughter bought one for Tamara, so we bought all the kids one that Xmas, They just gbrow on you, we ended up with 13 back then and now all our grandaughters are getting them. They are going to be a collecters item as the company has made it's last one this year, they have been bought out, so I have been told. I started sewing for them and had a stall at the markets everySunday and used to sell $300/$400 in cloths each wekend in only 4 hours. I paid for a trip to Ireland in 87.............. If you wait long enough, then the pretty one's will sell and their new mommy's will love them. I realy would love to see them, please post in Artist Showcase. XXXXXX June.
