I just finished this baby for my granddaughter who wanted a "special doll" for her birthday. I had taken a re-born class a couple of years ago and basiclly forgot a great deal. Boy-O-boy was I glad I bought a video to remind me all I forgot. She is the Aubrey doll from BB and I picked her becasue my granddaughter's name is Aubrey. I can't wait to see her face when she gets her this weekend!

She looks lovely, your granddaughter will love her. Once again WELCOME to this lovely forum. My first reborn was done with AS Oil Paints, heat set. LOOKED CRAPY. Yours is beautiful. Then I went to Inks which I loved, I was so scared to try another medium, ask Pat, but finnally I got hooked GHSP, now I wouldn't use anything else. Can I mention, as a doll artist in Porcelain Doll Making for over 20 odd yrs, when you set your eyes, the light spot should be in the same position in both eyes. There not far off and most others wouldn't notice, just thought for your next open eyed baby you could try it. XXXXX June.
Welcome to the forum! I have to say your granddaughter is just going to love this little one. Aubrey has such a sweet yet sad little face, like she just waiting to be hugged! Congratulations getting her all finished looking forward to seeing more!
Great work honey...my 1st reborn would've scared "Chucky"...she...no "it" was dreadful very chalky then she became very shine,I must have tried to repaint 12 times...I got rid of the shine just about 2 days ago..I bought Secrest "Superior Shine Remover" and went over to one of god-daughters homes,to whom I gave Felicia to to remove the shine...she's still a bit scary but she's not shiny anymore...strange thing is my God-Daughter think Felicia is so beautiful, even from the start...now even better
Thanks for the advice. I did notice that one eye is a little off. I too have made porcelain dolls for many years and love to paint their eyes, not use glass eyes. So, try as might I could not get the one eye to move far enough. Not sure how to correct that. In hindsight I guess maybe I should have cut the vinyl a little more then the eye might have moved into a better place. I must say I really enjoy working with porcelain more than I do vinyl. But I am very happy with how she turned out.
I just love this forum, getting to see everyones beautiful dolls and for all the helpful answers to questioins.
I too love the Porcelain but turned to Reborns as a substitute for making dolls as we had shifted and all my molds where stacked in boxes, but I am beginn ing to love doing them, as I said in another post, have order 10 from BB. Once I get a real work room set up I will be teaching both again. On a bigger scale than just one or two. I used to teach 17 0n Tue and 10/17 on a Thurs. So the reborning woud be a night time thing. XXXXX June.
