Since I could not get the "real girl" torso kits by Carol Kneisley from RDK I settled for Cathy's torso kits..I've mixed fellings about these 2 torso kits.. postive notes to them is they are of very soft vinyl and about the size of a 4 month old's torso..anatomically correct(so-so) cosmetically correct yes...I love the limbs although...I notices that Dolls.B.S. has some better anatomically correct torso kits without the arms and by the same artist Cathy Rowland that I should have seen before I got these...they appear to have better details in the sculpt..
These costly $49.95 with 4 limbs..the others at Dolls.B.S. are $25.99..hell I could have bought 4 kits...and worried about the arms later...
What cloth bodies can I use and where to get the (large)torso cable tie???

you probably did the right thing, you couldn't be sure that the limbs you would get later would be the exact same color as your torso.haveing to color correct to make them match is a pain.dolls b.s. should have the the bodys. sage
I bought the boy torso from D.by.S. I have enough limbs to mix and match and apply so many layers of paint so I never have a problem with color correction. I bought my body when I bought the kit. Usually when you they have it available were the torsos are sold. D by S has then for $17.00 I figured I'd buy one then and use it as a pattern to make others. The cable ties you use are the same length as the long neck ones that usually come in Secrist bodies.
The boy torso is from the same artist Cathy Rowland right?
I've got the girl torso's and they same quite large...maybe too large to use with some kits...my torso's look large enough to be at least 4 month olds and the newborn kits are suppose to represent 1 month olds...you think they'll look right on those kits?
Holy Cow, I don't know about that one, I don't like the way the legs are spread so far apart. In 1987 we went to Nth. Ireland, we bought 10 Berjusa, babies and I think they have a nice body, newly born belly button. They where not very expensive back then, but I think their bottom and belly plates would be good to use on reborn babies, especially 1/2 mths old babies.. You could proably buy them on ebay just to cut up and reborn. There are boy and girl ones in those. XXXXX June.
I've seen them yoo on ebay all the time (Berjusa babies) reasonably priced.
Yes It's made by Cathy Rowland, I haven't received it yet but it did say make a 20-22 inch baby. I guess it would depend on the kit. Some kits have a larger size head or maybe a berengeur baby head. I'll have to check it out once I get mine and let you know should be in any day. I also saw one made by (I think) J. Gnomes and it say for 18-20 inch babies but that one is fairly new on the market and quite expensive right now.
Well I got mine today, I was thought that at least the legs came with it but no just the torso. So all and all the price was about the same as yours, you figure 25.00 for the limbs and 25.00 for the torso. It's going to make a nice 19 -21 inch baby I think. I can't wait to work on it.
I don't think they look real this is just my opinion, BB has new Donna Rubert male and female front plates and back plates that look pretty good they are 12.95.
More reborn artists are starting to make the anatomically correct babies now since more plates and bodies are becoming available.
I like the Donna Rubert ones too. Also, DD has the ones sculpted by Danielle Zweers and they are really good too! I'm glad the sculptors are finally doing some boy torsos circumcized and some not. Use to be that alllll the plates used to be the same uncircumsized, so it's nice to have a choice starting. (IMHO)
I'd probably buy one of those, I'm not too fussed on the others, I always think that most of the babies should be dressed so I'm not inclined to put the extra cost into something we may not get much return for. XXXXX XXXXXX June.
