I took them out today to show to a few more ladies at a childrens clothes store...a customer came in with her 2 year old daughter and really loved 2 of babies Violetta and Sophia..her girl was still in the stroller when she held the reborn baby close to her 2 year old...she was shocked by its present almost to the point of crying...she did not want to touch it...I felt sad for her...poor little baby probably figured in her mind that it was a dead baby...or just jealous that her mum was holding it..same thing with one of my neighbors daughter about 2-1/2 year old...she wanted nothing at all to do with it,I think she was scared of it or jealous that her mum and older sister was holding it... Some young girls even as old as 5 years old were afraid of them..even some of the boys looked a bit afraid
I am leaning more towards the idea that, they have estimated or figured in their young minds that these are dead babies..because they don't look like her play dolls, since they don't move and the adults are showing a lot of attention to these...things..therefore they must be dead babies...ofcoarse the only other thing besides that they may be jealous of them..is that they are really ugly to the 2-2-1/2 year olds...or other girls upto 5 years old...
Ladies have you come across this problem with babies rejecting your reborn babies,or am I the only one seeing this problem here...?
Why do you think the very young girl rejects my reborn babies?

Hi I'm Linda I have to tell you I've really injoy your adventures with your dolls. It's so nice to hear your not afraid to take your babies out for the world to see. You should show off your babies you do BEAUTIFUL work!!!! I'm hhoping some day to be as good as you are and the great reborners we have on here. I have one done and his name is Joey and I did take him out one day. I think he needs to go out again. Have a good day! Linda
I've only showed mine to family and friends so far. My nieces and newphews are under the ages of 10 the youngest being 4 at the time and they just waited to hold the baby...however maybe with opened eyed babies it might scare them a bit I haven't showed them any with open eyes yet. I know the ones with open eyes freak my sister out and she's 45 LOL
Linda thank you so much...yet I'm really surprised that while showing my reborns to so many people..that I get so some many positive reactions..even by men..I can only say that my worst showing,if you may was at the family reunion...I just love showing them around...alway remembering inside that I can never change what people are thinking or saying about me when I'm not there, under their breath or behind my back...(I kind of feel that not much of what they say or think is negative at all)
Even though my reborns look so-so or even pretty to some viewers,I am not totally satisfied with their looks...I still see that they need further and further improvements...one of my biggest approaches to this art-form is that I ask lot and lots of questions and I chat with lots and lots of people...and am not afraid to make mistakes...
even if all my babies looked worst than Chucky, hell I'd still show them to lots of people.. as for me...I wish I could be half as good as Mrs. Jalland of the UK(Tinkerbell Nursery)
In my 20+ years of making dolls (porcelain and vinyl) and doing shows. I have watched little ones when their parents try to show them the dolls. I know its not that they think they are dead babies as most children do not have any comprehension as to what "dead" is in the first place. Some of them don't like the babies because they are just not into dolls, some are afraid of dolls for some reason or another, and some may be jealous of the mom or auntie holding and fussing over the babies. But I can definately say its not because they think they are dead, even with the eyes open. Children, especially young ones are very curious about eyes and will intentionally try to poke another baby in the eyes because they are curious, not with intention to harm the baby. So having an open eyed baby should cause them to come closer wondering about the eyes.
I have had others that will hold the baby and not want to give it back, thinking that the parent has given them a dolly of their own and is now taking it away. It's hard to hear the little one having a fit when the mother tries to take it away. No one really knows for sure what is going on in the minds of children. I have run into quite a few parents that let their young children watch those horrible Chuckie movies and the kids are either scared to death of dolls or make wise-cracks about the doll parts I have on my table for sale.
These are my observations over the years with a light background in psychology. Soem will agree, some won't, just an observation, just sayin'
I believe they are afraid and mainly for 2 reasons..like I said before..I know a child's mind..they know a lot more then you want to give them credit for...they know instinctively a lot more then they display...tell a child something one time whether you say it or a movie says it..they compute....the doll looks too much like a real baby and it will not move like other babies..mommy shows babies attention..she does not show that attention to dolls of mine or at the store..you are that young child..What do you think?...you know what they think..and it is not what you think or what you tell them to think...
