Well I've been working on Carter and I have to say that his sculpt was not as cute as I tought he was in the pictures. So I'm trying to make the best of him =( I think he needs his birth mark on his forehead toned down a bit more, it loks more bruised in the picture then in person, but did you ever have that one baby.....ARGH! he needs rooting as well but wanted to get everyones opinion before I started that incase I decide to toss him back in for another bake. He was a tough little guy and fought me on everything so far! A true labor LOL!
me too, the pics gods don't smile on me to aften either. if i get some spare cash i want to get a photo box set . they sell them on ebay i know people who swear by them for takeing pics of their babies, it defuses the light or something. sage
I feel ya Tina on the camera shots. I can't get mine to take a decent close up to save my life. LOL
I think Carter is really cute. His shading is really dark though, like in between the fingers and around the eyes? I don't even mind the bruise/birthmark. When I was born, I had (still have, it's faded now) a strawberry hemangioma on my forehead. Used to have ppl ask my folks all the time what happened.
Thanks ladies for the advice. I give is shading another look I didn't even notice that. Too me the brusing/birthmark in person is really not as bad as the picture looks ARG. I think I'm going to look into those photo boxes Sage I've heard people say they work great too. I 've tried it all outside, inside by a window, flash, no flash, shade, I guess next Ii should try standing on my head!
lol tina your tooo funny!!!.. I had my problem child already so I am good to go on that one... :) I think he is cute!!!! I do like the birth mark it looks so real.. I don't know if standing on your head would help or HURT you!!!.... But I guess to get that right pic. So I hope carter will turn himself around and be good. lol

LOL Yeppers I'll let you know....can't be any worse! I did tone it down a bit a little flesh 07 and mint green looks better. I started rooting him last night. Alot of the brusing look is just a shadow around the eyes.
Aww thank you. My kids call him the alien baby he..he..he.. the eyes creep them out. I started rooting him with light brown hair but I'll try to get a few more picture (provided I don't snap my neck LOL)
I think he's precious. His marks remind me of my oldest who had a tough delivery.
I just want to preface this next thing with the fact that my eyesight is not very good. From the photo, it almost looks like he's wearing glasses. So he's not wearing specs (it's just the crease shading) and you're laughing at my crippled eyesight?
It could be the idea that puts him over the top in terms of cuteness. Since he has the birthmark and maybe bruising, he may have been born a preemie that needed neonatal IC. And maybe he needed and received too much oxygen that affected his eyes and means he will need to wear little glasses.
With or without glasses, I think he's an adorable little guy.

Just a quick thought, I had a problem with a mark that was too dark, and instead of coating the whole thing, I just pounced the mark with flesh colour, and that toned it down. However I am inclined to agree with Liselle, I love the mark, (better than mine) but his creases appear just a little too dark. Would love to see him finnished, he is a darling. camry xxxx

The creases are a little on the dark side, I think if next time you shade creases it would be a bit softer if you mixed a bit of lip colour and a soft fawn you would get a nice crease colour, if you hold your fingers up and look in the creases between them and in your nuckels, there is only a soft tone. LOL. even in my old hands, it is just like a shadow. I can never take a good photo of my babies either. He is a stunning little boy, sorry you had to endure such a labour, but it is a labour of love. XXXXXXX June.
Thank you all for you kind words and opinions. No Linda, not laughing at your eyesight...you know what they say "people in glass houses...LOL " My eyesight isn't the best even with glasses! Yes I think the shading got away from me this time. I'll have to take better care on the next one. I finally got him done but I just a m not taking to him, I guess we all have that one baby that no matter what we just don't bond. I broke three needles in his rooting.....I hardly ever break needlles and his head was soft! He rooted quickly though I rooted him in under 7 hours but I couldn't wait to finish him. I did tone the birthmark down a bit. Great advice on pouncing just the area...thats is what I usually do in these cases sometimes , if it's too red I add a bit of mint green to it as well.
Relieved to know my eyesight is okay, he's not wearing glasses, and it was the shading!
I know you haven't been able to bond with him, and I've had a few of those hard-to-love cases so can identify. I think I bonded with Carter for you. To me, he's really, really cute.

Thank you ladies. I just can't bond with this one. I guess I expected something different but searching around at what some other artist did with him, it looks like it's just how this kit is. =l
