I can't wait to get started on him!! I'm so excited!! I have to wait until after school ends, so I can devote more time to him, but I truly cant wait to start him!!
The kit came with everything, including rooting tool and needles, and mohair, and even weighting material!! YAY!

Yes Aviva, it's Poohbear, from BnB. I just fell in love with him when I saw him and told my parents and sister I wanted him for my bday. I actually didn't think I'd get the whole kit like that, since that price range is over $100. Surprise!!! Now I need a job, so I can buy more Genesis paints. Looks like I'll be practicing learning about air dry!
*happy dance*
And thank you Sage!!

What a nice b-day gift! Pooh bear is an adorable sculpt I just love his cheeks! Reminds me of my grandsons cheeks. Have a wonderful time reborning him and can't wait to see him all finished!
I started out on air dry paints. They are okay..just remember one thing..it will look like there is nothing on them...I swore the paint was invisable so I kept on painting and painting and painting....holy smoke that little doll turned into a baby of color and shine city. So just remember..you can't see it at first and use natural daylight. I have a daylight craft lamp that is heaven sent.
ps..well it was until someone stepped on the switch part (little roller) and now the dumb think won't come on. grrrrrr. I think maybe the cord could be changed. I'm going to give it a try. hey...I put my first belt on the vacuum cleaner. I'm learning all sorts of hubby jobs that don't get done!!!

Liselle well happy really belated Birthday.... Congrats on that little cutie poohbear! can't wait to see what he will look like when your done with him. I as well as Aviva started on air dry paint and I found that they dried way to fast for me, So I switched to the other instead and I love the whole baking the paint.
PS- I hope you have lots of fun!

Yeah, I have the air dry paints, and I'm just going to have to learn how to use them. My unemployment stopped, and I am seriously broke. Like 20 bucks to my name broke. lol.
My oldest son is getting ready to move out and I'm converting his room to MY room. A place for all my crafts. I'm very excited!!
I hope to get started with Pooh in the next few weeks. I've got class tomorrow, then my final on Monday, and I'll be done with school until I get in the actual Phlebotomy course program. Hope it's soon!!
Thanks great =) I used the air dry paints when i first started reborning they aren't that bad. There are several ladies that use only the air dry paint in the forum and thier babies are beautiful. My eldest daughter moved out last fall and we converted her room into my craft/computer/get away from everyone room LOL it's wonderful you'll love it.
I love this sculpt. He's SOOOO adorable. The hardest part about making reborns is the fact that I am NOT patient. I want them done NOW, you know? I'm just going to have to do my best and work slowly and patiently. *sigh*
He's going to be so adorable! I love the chubby legs as well. Reminds me of my grandson, he's got the chubbiest arms and legs! My worst part is waiting for the hair to dry after gluing it. That's when I get really impatient! I guess because I know the end is near and all I want to do is dress them up! LOL

The one and only picture that EVER came out awesome on this old camera!!! My question: How do you know when you're done with painting?
I think he looks great. He's not too red, not too pale, and he looks like he's got peach fuzz. I keep picking him up thinking he's gonna be fuzzy, but of course, he's just smooth vinyl.
I know his lips need a sealer. Isn't that what makes them look moist? The camera doesn't do a GREAT job in picking up the minute details but this is definitely one of the best pix.

he looks lovely, to get the moist look when you're all done you take aleenes paper glaze and apply to lips .i also some times seal my nails with it too.it's cool stuff you can make tears, spit bubbles and a about to cry moist eye.i've also been known to use it to apply lashes. but once its on you can not bake your baby anymore. sage
I as well think he looks great! I love aleenes paper glaze... I use it on my nails and lips, I used it once for a moist eye.. he had closed eyes but I just did i little and it was sooo cute...
I have never done eyelashes at all and I haven't tried the eyelashes with the aleenes paper glaze... something I will have to try!

Unfortunately I have to stick with what I have on hand. Still no job, no income. It really sucks.
But thank you all for the comments and compliments. If you tell me that he needs something more, I'll definitely take it on the highest regard!! You guys are great!
Ok, here he is with a bit of glaze on his lips. It's better for sure. The other set of pix is showing the difference in an unfinished vinyl leg and a painted one. I had to strip it due to an overly blotchy flesh tone.
I am gonna stop painting for the night, because I'm getting frustrated at his legs. The paint is severely blotchy, and looks painted. I'll sleep on it and see if they look better tomorrow, if not, I'll strip them both again and start over. Ugh.
Ok, so I'm still not very happy with the painting on the limbs. I simply can't seem to get them to look as good as the head. I don't know if I'm being overly critical or what. What can I do to fix the spottiness??
The glaze on the lips looks great!.... From the perspective of the camera Photo I do not see any white blotchness. I think when you get your nail color and blush on I think it wont look sooo white looking.. Sorry, I don't see it but I am sitting in my livingroom in the dark lol.... I was to lazy like to get up and turn it on.. lol will soon!

I had something like that on my Carter's face. It was where I didn't pounce enough before I bake. My problem child LOL. I just put another layer over and pounced to blend it in. Can't even see it.
I got a few decent pictures that actually SHOW the spotting I'm talking about. Should I go over this again with a darker flesh color, or blend the flesh color with the highlight color, like I did for this layer? And what should I use to put it on, because before I used a round pouncer and this is what it left behind.
OK I see it now....It looks as though maybe the paint ran a bit where it wasn't pounced out thin enough. What i would do before I stripped it all is try a layer of skin foundation to see if it blends and covers it. I might even try two (I just hate stripping a doll out) I paint a bit thicker so when I had a area that did this to me one layer over it did the trick. Just be sure either way you pounce well. I usually let mine sit a bit then recheck for running, just in case it needs another pouncing before I bake.
OH I forgot about that =( I'm not really all that familar with ADP's but couldn't you add more of the retarding agent so it drys slower giving you more time to pounce and make sure it's blended?
Uh......I'm gonna be really stupid here for a sec....I don't even know what the retarding agent IS. All I have that came with my kit/paints are these and the paint thinner.
If I remember right, it should be something called an extending medium. It's been 3 years since I used ADP and that was only once or twice before i switched to GHS. Something should have came with your paints identifying the retarder, they may be calling it something different now.
ok i asked angie of little dumplings and she said there should be a retarder.....or flow medium. these would extend the drying ,you may not have gotten any with you kit. hope this helped. sage
Retarder slows down the drying time for acrylic paint and makes them easier to work with. I would contact BnB where you go the kit, and ask them what the name of the substance is and whether it was supposed to be included in the kit. I think their version of retarder has the word "gel" in the name. Hope this helps.

the problem is bloomers and bows isn't doing business right now due to i think its elenas illness. i've been waiting cos i want one of their toddlers. so i questioned a gal who uses these type of paints. sage
Sorry... I am out of the loop and didn't know Elena is ill. I think she's really talented and creative, and I hope this is only temporary. I guess the retarder for acrylic paint at Michael's of HL might work. Or if you want retarder specifically for air dry paints used on dolls, both RE (Germany) and DD sells their own private air dry paints.

The gel blending retards drying, Elena did have surgery, I hope she is ok they were suppose to start taking orders 7/7/10 but they are not, I hope they take orders soon I am out of 40g 1 barb needles I only get them from her.
Oh, Dee!! I totally forgot you use these paints!! Why didn't I just ask you? LOL
So it's the blending gel I need to be using with it? How? I've been dipping my brush in it before using the paints and then spread both paint and gel on whatever I'm pouncing with.
