i'm trying to find a true reborn contest, as you know i reborn rescued babys i'd like to enter them in a contest where they were competeing with other true reborns. but i don't know how to find one. any ideas sage
I'm not sure if this is the contest you are looking for but there is one that lifelikedollsmag.com is having, my husband told me that I should do it, I may enter it. I hope I'm not breaking any rules by putting this in the forum.

let me say i love the kits but i realy enjoy doing rescue babys too. but in alot of contests the rescue babys are up againest these kits .looking for one where they compete with only other rescues. i'll check that contest out, thanks sage
I'll keep my eyes and ears open for a contest for "true" reborns as a opposed to "newborns".

Does it matter if they go against a new reborn kit, I would think that if you have taken the time to reborn a rescued baby it would be no different than doing a kit, there is more work in stripping back and reborning them than just starting from a blank kit. Most of them you have to colour correct them as well, If you state that on your entry, it should be noted and extra points given for extra effort. That is how I would judge them here in Oz. I will be judging reborns for the first time in July at the Sunshine Coast Doll, Bears, toys and Craft Show on the 17 th July. I hope I am an impartial Judge. Lots of Luck. XXXXXX June.

just from your reply i can tell you'll be a great judge- i love the newborn kits but the rescue babys have my heart- some of my babys were headed for the bin - i give them a chance to be loved again. something we all need sometimes. sage
I think that so few people make reborns from dolls anymore that a contest like that wouldn't get many entries. Also, it's usually only the beginners who do, so it wouldn't be a very "professional" contest. It's a good way to learn, but eventually if you want to get anywhere in the reborn world, you have to use the expensive kits. :( Enjoy doing it, though! I think you'd find that the kits are a lot easier to use. I did. But if it's rescue babies that have won your heart, rescue babies! Just don't expect them to really be on the same level with other babies.

In Most Doll shows with Compitition in Aust, there is a section for novice and I don't think an expensive or a shop bought doll wouldn't make a difference in this section. We all have to start somewhere. The judging is done on a points score out of 100, you would take into consideration, all the aspects of reborning, some novice reborners have studied a lot before they begin to do their first reborn wether it be a second hand , shop bought or an expensive kit. Depending on the detailing, weighting, layers, veining, rooting, nails, , tips of nails, lips, blemishes and milk spots. So I guess when you entre a comp that's what most judges would look for. Now they would be looking for exactly the same thing but with more expertize in advanced or professional. JIMHO. Is this correct Pat? XXXXXXX June.
