well had a busy day, yard saled up some used pacis--- great baby girl clothes and the cutest baby shoes.i then found a wooden old style high chair a thift store for 4.94 worked on native american baby--- rooting. then washed our newest baby a sleeping j turner boy (we already have an open eyed j turner girl) these are our personal babys. mentioned we needed a car seat, i was informed that we... didn't need one cause they're not real . for the record i know that but the last time i took a baby out a dog ran in front of the car,i hit the brakes and the doll (baby) went flying . do you think i'm over doing it? i be interested in hear about your nurserys . sage
Well mine are everywhere in our house, I don't take them out for drives but we do talk to them, I'll see If I can post some of my lounge dining room, dinning room. I have heaps more Porcelain to wash their cloths and redress, new ties in their underwear, as the elastic has had it, so I am replacing with ribbon. For anyone one making their baby cloths, only use ribbon or you will be replacing them as the elastic these days lasts NO time before it breakes down. XXXXX June.
I have a jumpy seat for my baby and the other are seat-belted in. I too think not only safety but what if a dog or something else made me put on the breaks fast... all that work could be down the drain! EEEkkk! No way! When I do a show though... I put my babies in rubbermaid 18 gallon totes with lids. I can safely fit 5-6 babies in each one. That way they don't get wrecked or dirty KNIM? And it's a good way to hide them at night from cleaning people and mall-walkers in the morning before I get there. You should see me with my porcelains!!! They not only have seat belts but also a protective blankie over them. Ijust have to make sure I cover them up so no nosey window-peeping people call the police on me for leaving children/babies in the van. :o
My nursery takes up two bedrooms and is overflowing into the entire house but the shelves are shared with vintage Cabbage Patch, vintage Baby Dear, and a few others. I have my porcelain Amish doll collection on the shelves behind a glass door. They are so fragile and seem to break so much easier here in Arizona. Why is that?
I have dolls in a bassinet, a doll bed that I had as a child, granddaughter's crib, baby car seat, baby bouncer, stroller, etc.
I took my dolls out in a car seat on a couple of occasions when I was showing them to my friend who owns a beauty salon. Both times the dolls attracted way too much attention because I had 2 of them strapped into one car seat, and people thought the dolls were real babies. I really didn't want that much attention outside the salon. It's hot in the parking lot.
Now I don't usually take them out of the house unless I'm going to a show, delivering a baby that's sold, or showing the doll off to friends. I usually carry them nestled in a huge mesh-type bag that I purchased when I was in Mexico. This way they can "breathe" (ridiculous, I know), they stay protected, and it's hard to see that there is a doll inside because of the plaid pattern on the outside.
I think I love the dolls more for the art than anything else so I really don't find myself talking to them. Sometimes I do pick them up to hold them. Even then I think I do it mostly to make sure I have the weighting or some other aspect as realistic as possible. Or maybe I'm more into the babies than I thought because I have been known to cover a little foot, make sure another has his/her pacifier, or give a little pat on the back as I pass through a room.
I need a little house (a casita???) just for my dolls. LOL. My dream would be to have a workshop that is separate from my kitchen and bedrooms.
Nope, I don't think you are overdoing it, Sage. LOL.

I have a baby scale and my son a husband found a beautiful wooden cradle at a yard sale for them. I also have a baby infant seat and portable carry bassinet. After all the hard work you want to display them nicely and keep them safe =)
I had this large baby basket. My husband and I were going somewhere (a while ago) and I had 2 porcelain dolls I made so I put them in the basket. Well, they must have weighed too much cause when I got 3 steps away from the car, the basket handle broke. I was able to save the girl but the little boy went head/face first onto the asphault parking lot floor! His head hit and shattered, and his little eyeballs went rolling around the parking lot! I picked up his peices, my husband found both his eyeballs and we went into the office. I was crying and he said, "oh their just dolls!"
So... I said I had put months of work into them and how would he like it if his prized Harley he worked on for 10 years got crashed! Then I think he kinda got it.
Moral of the story... don't carry your baby basket by the handle (at least not with 2 babies in it).
I never did make a new baby head for him. :(
I really don't have anywhere to put my babies. I have my 2 porcelains on the computer corner hutch. 2 of my AV dolls are there with them. These of course are my own babies. My other babies are out to my storage locker where they stay till I do a show. :( I have a Moses basket that a dear friend made me and I have my Vivien and Phoebe in there. Other than that I don't really have a lot of babies that are mine. Not a very good nursery though is it? Hmmm...

this is the story of how i let my bf live, we were out doing errands left one to go to another for which we were early.passed a house with a recliner and other stuff out front for free, one of the items was a yellow bouncie seat(FREE) so i'm all hey lets go back.he then tells me we'll get it after the errand --- dentist for him and my daughter----- needless to say i didn't get the bouncie seat(dude... it was FREE ) so while i wanted to run a muck with a rusty ax , i let him live but guys and gals i may need to rethink this relationship . sage
I Have A Car Seat!!!! yeah, well i guess bf knew he was on thin ice so yesterday he meekly went to thirft shops with me and didn't say a word when i bought a carseat for 3.00. gosh does baby look great in it ,i hadn't thought of the photo ops but i'm gonna burn up the camera. plus all my friends live 50 miles away,a trip to town is 35 miles. so i feel much safer now. sage ps. plus i got my way
hi gals, i was telling the bf today i could work allday in the nursery and still not be done , today was a good example -- had to dye ex's hair so i could use it on big baby. eyebrow and apply matte to big baby .... put in big babys eyes ....try to get good pics......wash three kits...take apart 2 rescues. i still need to root fairy, cricket and big baby and but maddison on ebay. is it this busy in you nursery ........i'd love to hear about it sage
Your nursery sure is a busy one LOL! I wish I could do more in mine, just hasn't been the time. I have both kids graduation's comming up. One next week and one next month, the baby's christening, attorney visit's (from my last years car accident) hospital visits to father in law, watching my grandbaby, not to mention full time work! I need more hours in the day.
I agree... we need to see the baby in the new car seat. I have my granddaughter's first car seat, and my husband is always trying to give it away or just get rid of it. I have to keep my eye on him because he's so forgetful.
