Well I am on..... But I am knew to this I have done three so far. But I took a look at your little braylon.. He is amazing! I didn't see anything that was bad... You did really good on him. His blushing in the second picture looked dark to me. But in the others it looked light. But that could be me or maybe it's the pose. However, HE is beautiful!!
I know I just put my second one up but no one was on the give me feed back.... I like good criticism it's better than a friend lying to you... lol...I put my little Raven on in the Show us your completed babies. But No one gave me feed back yet I am obsetted with checking and seeing if anyone has come to give me feedback lol.... MY third one is finally finished. What an addiction it is... BUt I love it!!!

Thank you!! I love making them to. I just don't know how good I am doing, lol. My family will just tell me I am doing good cause they don't want to hurt my pride i think, lol. I tried to find where you said you had some of yours at and I can't find it. How do I go there??
I would say for the age of the baby it is too dark with the blush, or (orange) usually they say less is best, because you can always add more. But for your first, it looks good. I cant see the eyebrows properly to comment but the eyes are diffinately set in the right place. The moderaters don't come onto the forum over the week end so they will comment once on line. I am still not 100% sure, every time I reborn, if I am doing it right, but they tell me there is no right or wrong way as we all have or own interpritation and see things differently, the main thing is if you are happy with your work, then that is all that matters, each new baby we do, we learn something new. I did yesterday, I went to someone elses place to reborn, had a fab day with 6 other ladies, all doing their babies different. XXXX June.
I wish there were people in this area who did reborning too. I would love to be around others and learn new stuff too. Most people I talk to don't want to give any advice because they think its a secret, but it doesn't matter we can never produce the exact doll anyways. But thats how it goes I guess. I am just glad to have any advice thrown my way. This doll was the darker vinyl and I didn't like it at all. I like the pink ones better. Someone told me i should of used a orange wash on her and i have no clue what that is,lol. I am a greenback just learning lol. So please feel free to comment on anything I might need to know..
Iagree with June on this one =) Although there is not right or wrong way and as long as your happy with him thats all that matters. I do agree for the age intended the blushing is a bit too orange. Other that that he adorable. As for the darker vinyl, there are different washes (really thinned down paint, pounced all over the vinyl then baked) to tone down the color. A good color wheel is a great thing to have! Just find the color that matches the vinyl and mix a really thinned out color across from it on the wheel. Works like a charm =)

I don't think its so much of someone lying to someone about their artistic abilities, usually its a matter of "what do I say to them?" or "how do I put this without making them mad or hurting their feellings?" type of thing hun. Its hard for both parties I think because on the one hand, you want an honest critique, but on the other hand, that person, friend or family, doesn't quite know what to say or how to say it. KNIM? And it's all subjective anyway... beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Maybe it's just not the kind of painting someone likes or is used to. We have some posts in forum on that subject by the people from Colliii.
Also, I don't think most people have been taught "how" to say something to the artist. And you never know how someone will really take a critique. It actually is a criticism in most cases. My ma always used to say "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" so I think that old addage has something to do with it too. Or like the commercial where the woman has on some article of clothing and she asks the guy "does this make my butt look big?". She wants him to be kind and say no, and if he's honest with her he'll really be sorry.
So it's all in how you look at it too! And if people want to comment, hopefully even if they don't like it, they will make a comment or two but be nice about it. One forum I'm in has a topic for something like critique... be brutally honest! And some are!
Well thank you for commenting on that , but I to try to answer someone as honest as I can because thats how I want them to be with me. And at times it is really hard to be that direct if you know you are going to be saying something out of honesty that might hurt them. But if they ask what is one to do, but to answer.
I notice you didn't comment on my doll, is it that bad,lol ?? I am wanting people to be on the up and up with me. It makes me want to stride for that perfection.. Sometimes we are so into our creative side that we don't see what others see and at that time a negative comment could help you out futher down the road.. I know am not as good as alot of people but the passion is there and the wanting to learn.. So plz feel comfortable to tell me what I am doing wrong...
Sorry I wasn't here!!!! I had some cysts removed from the bottom rim of my eye a week ago, and was getting headaches from trying to work on the computer with one halfway good eye. I'm sure worry about the path results contributed, too.
The moderators try to respond to the posts in the Artist Showcase area when time permits (technical/company-related questions are a priority), and Secrist feels the Artist Showcase part of the forum works best when the members critique each other's dolls. On the other hand, they don't want to pressure members into giving critiques as some people are not comfortable giving constructive remarks.
I try to answer or comment on all posts, but sometimes run short on time or feel others have already answered the questions and and had answers superior to mine.
So... please forgive me for failing to respond immediately to your post.
Here goes... I think you are off to a great start with the "birth" of your first doll.
On my monitor, your doll looks sort of orangy. Keep in mind all monitors are not the same. If your baby really does look this orange, I would suggest toning the paint down the next time. What paint did you use? Sometimes I think too much of the pre-mixed peaches and cream color gives this effect.
A blush color that is too dark or needs to have the hue adjusted can be fixed. To change the hue, add a little of the color that is opposite on the color wheel. In this case, the cure for too much orange is a touch of a blue color.
OR
If the orange is the hue you were trying to achieve but appears to be too dark, try dotting a little more of a flesh tone over the orange to tone it down.
I think you blushed the doll in just the right areas.
I cannot tell from the photo about the hair except to say it appears to be thickly rooted. To achieve realism, a doll's hair is every bit as important as the paint job. A thickly rooted head of hair should definitely have a well defined whorl so that it lays properly and looks realistic.
Hope this helps... Keep practicing and create babies that make you happy.
