Welcome and glad you're all here! Our forum is a family forum, no one is either too young or too old! Just read over the rules and how/where to post actual pics (like GG said, in the artist showcase). I know this post was in the rules and regs but I felt it would be better here or in misc chatter so I moved it.
Welcome Jessica! I think you'll find lots of wonderful people on this forum! I'm glad to hear someone your age loves reborning too. It's a great thing to do at any age! Hugs, Melinda
Welcome to the forum, Jessica! All of us love making these dolls, and age only a number. :) I think you will grow to love this art and can't wait to see how you progress.

You are so right! Thank goodness for cheap reading glasses when the eyes begin to fail. Just take care of the rooting hand because it is usually also the paint brush hand, and don't overdo it. I worked past the point of being sensible and ended up with 2 "trigger fingers" (tendonitis). Remember... do everything in moderation.

Ouch Linda! 2 triggers? I had my carpal tunnel surgery last July (OH MY! It's been a year already!) and about 6 weeks after, I developed a trigger thumb (same hand as the surgery). The surgeon warned me that if I got any triggers to let him know right away. So I did and he said that no one knows why people get them. Well DUHHH! I know mine is connected with the carpal release as I had carpal tunnel for 27 years and never one trigger anything... Ok, well I'm rambling, sorry... But I know the pain and frustration Linda.
I've had to increase my bifocal strength 3 times since doing my babies! But I've been doing it for over 6 years now and my dr says its normal "for my age"! Baaaa lol
I'm in trouble here....already blind as a bat without bifocals, add on doing my babies PLUS AGE.......I'm doomed for sure! Lets not mention the carpal tunnel that is in need of surgery, ladies I'm falling apart over here. LOL
You're probably a lot younger than me kiddo! And ya, at my age I'm falling apart too. But I just waited waaayyy too long for the carpal surgery. But you know, had I known it was going to be this sucessful right away the same day... I should have had it done years ago. But now my Dr says I can get my knee replacement! Carpal is fixed, done with school, not working (out of the home) yet so hey!
Went to the neurologist several weeks ago. EMG because my soles of my feet and bottoms of my toes feel like I got tape on them. Feeling but not really? So the EMG showed pinched nerve in my back. Got an MRI (all these letters, sheesh) and it showed 5 bulged discs! I thought I only had 2, hmmm. But still no answer on the feet. Had 8 viles of blood for tests drawn this week, all tests normal (except my triglycerides which jumped from 114 to 273!) but the rest are ok. So... more tests... more bloodwork...more wiating! :( Nope, not diabetic, don't drink much at all, no injury to my feet or anything. I must be on a quest or something, or maybe just falling apart like Tina said. lol Move over Tina and give me that other paddle! rofl
Do we even make one good body of working parts between us? Too bad we can't get a quantity discount to fix the common stuff!
I have taken prednisone, but it hasn't helped so far. I only have a few left so now I'm not sure what to do. I can't make a grip on my right hand.

Linda, Have you thought of having the triggers taken care of? I said I didn't want any more surgeries at least for a while, so he said the "snip" to fix the trigger is a simple, minor surgery that they just numb you up and snip the ligament makeing room for the node on the tendon. Just like the wrist for carpal now, just snip the ligament. but now I'm going to get a fat wrist because of it. But it works fabulously now with no numbness or tingling. I can root and crochet!!!
No, the MD didn't mention that option. Of course, he's just the family doc and not a specialist. I took all the meds (and it helped relieve psoriasis) but still have the trigger fingers. It's hard for my hand to do anything that requires a good grip.
Not sure I remember what ligaments do. Is cutting the ligament in your wrist the reason for getting a fat wrist?

The ligaments are actually what helps hold the meat on our bones. In the wrist and fingers, they are bands that are perpendicular to the fingers and hand/arm. I believe there are 3 in the fingers, and the tendons slide through them. Kinda like the loops on a fishing pole where the fishing line goes through them.
Yes, the cutting of the ligament is the reason for the fat wrist. They cut it all the way through (or 3/4 at least) and then just let your body heal and fill in the rest of the way so you still have the band but it's wider. Can't wear my watch now as my wrist is wider and the jeweler kept the (then) extra links out of it. Can't get new ones cause they don't make that design any more. I can get a new band but it goes so nicely with the watch. Darn it! :
