Hi everybody. My new baby girl came today. She is a beautiful native american baby. Every detail is perfectley done. If I ever get half as good as this lady at reborning I will count myself lucky!!! I guess I just have to keep practicing. I was asking about open or closed noses in my last post. She is my first closed noseed doll. I am very pleased with the effect. I am going to try to do the same thing on my next doll. Would you use the same paint mix that you use on the wrinkles and creases? Or would it be a bit darker? I was reading some of the negatives against opening the nose and I have to say it freaked me out! I was thinking about something and I hope that it does not sound to dump...What if you had a doll whose nose was to shallow to paint and it was kind of pugged. And you did not want to see the felt when you looked at the face. Could you drill the nose and sclupt the nostrels from clay? To give more depth and to seal the head from moisture? Has anyone heard or tried this?
Some still drill the nostrils open and back with felt. You could use the sculpy to model the nostrils after drilling but be sure to bake for the appropriate time so it's cured. Or yes, you could use the wrinkle/crease paint but do it lightly, just a thin layer as not to look painted.
