this is sam my second baby please tell me if he need some help im not sure what else she needs limb are done i like how they turned out but i think she needs some more help
I love baby Sam. I have one done and have another kit waiting to do. Okay I have a question for you. Are you using the bountiful paint by number? If you are, then I would hold back a little on the number 3 wash. When it gets in the creases, I would take a mop brush and brush it until it feathers out a bit and lighten it up a little. Also I'm not sure if it's veins that you have put in or if you are using a bluish color? If it is then I would maybe not put it down so far on the face. I'm refering to the 3rd picture with the head upside down. It might just be the lighting. The only vein that I make faintly visable is the one that is going down the temple in front of the ear. If there are little ones on the head, they usually are small. Working in the nursery we had to put a tournequet around the head to get an IV in. NOw this is just my opinion. I'm not that great and I am not a teacher or anything else...I need help myself lol. Anyway keep it up. You are doing good.

Hi Heather, For your second baby you are doing an excellent job. I have a few suggestions. On the veins you want them to be a little thinner. And the capillaries on the eyes. You want that to go from the inside corner of the eyes and branch out over the eye (think a tree or vine) I think your blushing looks good however (this could just be the lighting) the blushing makes the rest of the baby look really pale. What I do is what I call a 5 color pounce lol. I take the flesh color that I am using , then sap green, ochre yellow, white, burnt sienna, burnt umber and eyelid purple (bountiful babies) I use a different paint brush for each one. Do not mix to much thinner you want it thicker than you normally use (think melted chocolate consistency) place a dot of each color then take the big mop brush dip the tips of the bristle in the thinner (this is why you leave it thicker this part will thin it out) Then pounce with the mop brush (you will ruin the brush this way lol but it works great) this will give you more demensions in the baby. You can then add more flesh over that or more blush if you like. On your eyebrows. You have the shape perfect! Now what you need to do is incorporate a few more colors with them. going in between the lines that you first created. You want complimenting colors. (bake between each color) I cant wait to see yours all finished. I just listed mine on eBay today! Hugs Debbie

Hello Heather, I don't see much wrong with your baby Sam, the only thing I would suggest is that you cut some hairs out of your eyebrow brush so the strokes are not as thick. Also add another tone to them like Debra has suggested. I think too, to make him a little different add a few milk spots on his forehead, nose and cheeks with a little redness arround them, just to give him a special touch. XXXXXX June.
Everyone has great suggestions that I hope will help you to decide what, if anything, you might want to do.
From the photos, it appears that the creasing may be a little dark or perhaps it just appears that way due to the lighting. Next time I think I would try fanning the paint in the creases out a bit with your large mop--just as Aviva suggested.
When I first started, I went a little overboard with the creases. Why wouldn't I? They are such fun to paint! Of course these were the days before pre-mixed paint so we had to mix our own color concoction. And I thought I had mixed the absolute perfect creasing color. NOT!
My baby doll ended up looking like he was stuck out in a desert dust storm and all his creases were full of grime. He looked like he was in desperate need of a bath.
I learned the hard way that creasing that is too dark makes the baby look dirty. The creasing color should ideally be slightly darker than the skin tone, and applied to create a subtle shadow.
I think you've done great for your second doll.
Keep up the great work.

I found if you close your hand, and look at the shadow between the fingers it usually is only a shade lighter, but that comes from 20 yrs of Porcelain Doll Making. Pat B. could tell you how scared I was to start using GHSP. But I over come my stresses and I tink if I could take better photo's it would show an improvement on my 1st Reborn. Best Wishes XXXXX June
