Eyelashes!!!

Hi Everyone, Have my first doll done and all put together. I must have went brain dead. I was showing him to someone and they noticed I didn't have eye lashes on him. I painted eye brows on him . So does he need eye lashes and do I put them in with a needle and can I do it seeing he has his eyes glued in already? I'm doing two sleeping ones now . I know I have to put eye lashes on them. I guess I wasn't thinking about him because his eyes were opened .Thanks for your help. I'm taking him to a doll lunchen on Sat.  Do any of you ladies take your babiees out to see what kind of reaction you get? I've been thinking about taking my out shopping. But i don't want someone to thinhk I went off the deep end (HA! HA!)disbelief

If you have an open-eyed baby you will just glue the lashes on the eyelid, just under the edge of the lid. Kind of between the eyeball and the lid.
You can put them on or not, it's your call but if you want your baby to look more realistic, do the lashes. We don't recommend rooting the lashes on the open-eyed babies as the needle going into the vinyl lid can weaken and comprimise the vinyl. It's very touchy to do those kind of lashes. Most people use glue in lashes in that case.

For the closed-eyed babies you can glue some on or root, no problem.

I take some of my babies out to get "judged" to see if people think they are real. But don't get carried away or people may ... well... they just might not understand. But I just take them to the store for outfits, or take them to school to show other people I know that enjoy my work. I do know of one person that got insulted when people didn't "notice" her doll or acknowledge it as real. That's a little overboard (IMHO).

I glue lashes on both types of babies, haven't got up the nerve to root them on the sleep one's yet. I think over here some of the girls are painting on the bottom lashes, so I thought when I finish Starlight,I would probably paint bottom lashes on her. XXXXX June

I have a terrible time gluing lashes on! Rooting the sleeping babies are a breeze, but gluing YUCK! So my open eye babe has none.

I think the more you do the easier it gets, I was quite messy with eyelashes when I first started but Im finding it easier to get them glued on with less mess now..I love rooting the sleeping baby eyelashes and would like to be able to do it with the open eyed babies...it would save buying eyelashes!! I haven`t been game to give it a go yet..I`d have to get some very straight hair first..

Yes the old addage is correct... "practice makes perfect" or in German (Deutsch) it is "Ubung macht den meister" (can you tell I'm just learning German?) lol
I have that quote on my bench but I think I forgot the umlauts in there hehehe
