Well, I have now completed my first and second babies. Baby number 1 is my son. Connor done from a picture. He turned out a bit darker than I thought he would but still cute. His hair is pluggy so I have a hat on. Baby number 2 is better. He is a blond Trey from BB. He is for a gift for an older woman in my church. I think I am getting better. I am so excited to have found this new hobby! Hope you like them.
The first pics were a bit blurry, the second baby looks realy nice, but IMO the corners of his eyes are a bit too blue, but other than that he looks great, especially for your 1st two. congratulations xxxx June.
I think the best dvd is the beginner classroom training from Secrist and you also get a free cd with pics and everything! It will stop after each section and you go on when you want.
Your second baby looks like he belongs here in the Northland (as Mr Secrist says: a light skinned winter baby). But I see an improvement between your first and second one. Good job.
I think you did just great. I did Try twice...I will put a picture of all of the dolls here. I grouped them. I started the classroom dvd for beginners and it's pretty good. I've been pretty much self taught. Well...this last Zoe I was working on (number three) has proved to get me down. ugh...I have never had so much trouble. I have a question...what's the best way to do the internal wash. I poked it down into the feet with the fan brush, but it made her foot look bruised. Then it's just been one thing after another. I finally had to set her down. But it's funny because I have done one Trey with big brown eyes and black hair. Actually I tried the wig on and he looked cute as pie, so I used it. So I did the same on second, but decided to root him. I'm doing him in Red hair with blue eyes...if they ever get here. I have brown in the 22 if I forgot the blue. But I do him in a darker skin..like I do a little bit one shade off the BB flesh, then add the BB flesh.

I do have the beginner dvd and cd as well as the advanced dvd and they help a lot but the forum answers questions that aren't on the dvds. I just received my next doll, Secrist's Ming, that I am going to have to resculpt a bit. I feel she is the closest to my daughter when she was a baby, so wish me luck
On Trey, I did not use an internal wash, only external washing and coloring. I was told that I didn't need to do an internal wash since it was not a Secrist doll.
I thought it was used when you did an old doll and stripped it down. I never have done one for BB. They come out good. I've done Trey twice, but I took his head back off and rooting some auburn colored hair..then decided maybe blue eyes...but then put the Eye c. brand in their brown back in. Then decided to use Shelley H. Kaylee's body and limbs which I stripped down...then that's when I stuck a ribbon on his head and said "everyone else is doing it, baby girl Trey...lol". Now...what do I name him..her??? Actually The S.H. Kaylee was my first Kit and I used baby tones..without the daylight lamp...she got shiny and I have had a love hate relationship with her. But in her feet..they are shaped like a girls foot. narrow at the back...wide across the toes. I thought this came later in life, but during vacation B.S. the little kids put their feet in finger paints and were asked to walk across this long paper. Well..these were preschoolers and you could see each one...boy's feet are not like girls. Oh..about the wash.....I don't like that about Sec. but I'll do it...grumble..lol kidding okay...I'm being naughty...haha

The only kits you are strongly suggested to do an internal purple wash on is Secrist because they are the only ones made specifically translucent (like a real babies skin) for that reason. Don't use it on old dolls cause they are thicker or more opaque vinyl, and the pink BB kits don't need it either as they are not translucent. I did do the wash on my Ariella and it really made a difference though! Also if they are a plastic type of old doll you don't need any, I know some do an external wash. Genesis says do not use their paints on that stuff.
