Weighing your baby. . .

Hi!  What do you use to get an accurate weight for your baby?  I'm thinking of purchasing a scale, but I'm not sure what to get.

Any tips are appreciated!  aww

Some use a baby weighing scale, some a postal scale, some just a digital scale from a department store. I don't thing the new mummies will be standing on a scale to see if the weight is spot on lol.

I sometimes use a can of vegetables or soup and "eyeball" it so I'm in the ball park. Just as long as you don't say the bub weighs 3 pounds and weighs 5 or something like that hehehe

I have some Tanita scales upstairs, and a good scale down here that is Lcd digital. I just get on the scale with the baby...then get off and lay the baby down and then weigh myself. I end up with about 3 to 3.5 pounds on the smaller ones (like Zoe) and on my bigger babies they are around 4.5 to 5.5 lbs. My fairy babies are 3.5 lbs.

I put mine in a plastic shopping bag, and hang them on a fishing scale . They only cost arround $7-8 AU. Thats what I weighed Mylee Rae with. XXXX June.

Thank you all so much!

Pat B., I had to chuckle when I read your answer. My husband is always telling me that it doesn't have to be exact since "everyone knows that babies gain and lose weight during the first month!"

WOW June! what a great idea about the fishing scales,  I was going to get a set of proper baby scales for when I put a baby on ebay but now I am going to pop along to a fishing tackle shop instead, LOL.

All good ideas gals! Weight is weight right? No matter how you get it as long as it's fairly close.
That was funny Rosemarie lol hehehe. Guess we're a bunch of comedians eh? lol  He is right though.

Now you want to talk an exact science here... I am almost done with my college classes to become a jeweler. Now that's an exact science. I do have to use a special scale and I have to be spot on with my weights (I use sterling silver and real gold). But with our babies, not so technical.

i use a simple scale that you would use to wiegh yourself. i use the non- electronic one, so it's a little harder to tell. on my last doll i wanted to really wiegh her so she was more life- like in a way. after trying sooooo hard, my finished doll ended up wieghing 8 pounds! that was more than me!! because she is sooooo heavy i nicknamed her "tank"!  hope you enjoyed this! biggrin
