Eye size
Permalink

I am working on an Isabeau doll kit by Danielle zweers and it stated when I bought her that she needed 22mm eyes so that was no problem but what I wanted to know for future reference is how do you measure eye size for dolls if it doesn't tell you the size you need when you order the kit.
Isabeau is the first open eyed baby I have done as they never really appealed to me before but this kit has changed my mind. she is gorgeous.
When I have finished her I will put some pictures on the artist showcase. I have a few babies I will show on there, I was going to put a few pics on there a few weeks ago but our computer has been playing up so I will wait now until I finish this one.
Anyway,  any tips about the eye size would be great.

Eye sizes are measured in mm. You take a ruler (milimeters) and measure from inside corner to outside corner and that is your eye size.

Isn't Isabeau wonderful! I just love her. I am one of only 2 dealers in the US for Danielle's baby.

I'd love to see her when she's done (and I'll pass on the lovely comments to Daan)! :)

Thanks Pat for the  info on how to measure the eyes.
Yes, Isabeau is Gorgeous.  I will definitely put up some pictures of her when she is all finished and of a few of my other babies as it would be nice to get some opinions to see how everyone else thinks I'm doing.
Danielle asked me to email her some pics of Isabeau when I am finished too (I bought my kit from her).
Thanks again for the help.

I don't think so June. But we do have a plastic sliding type thing that looks like a wrench (or a small letter "f" if you put it on end) lol. They have one on the Secrist site.

Usually the full round eyes are for putting in clay sculpts when you make them or also porcelain dolls. Most of the doll kits use the half round eyes. I'm glad you're thinking of getting your eyes from Secrist because they are the best on the market (IMHO) and I started using them 20 years ago in my porcelain dolls. Amazing realism and phenominal quality for the money!

The only kits I have found that have the shape of a full eye so far is the Elly Knoops sculps, they are a pain. All the other dolls I have made are secrists except for Cutie Pie and Brian. XXXXX June. PS Secrists eyes are the best to use.
