Hello from B.C.
Do any of you artists have an opinion on whether the bigger, more expensive doll kits sell better (when made up) than the 17-19" kits?
Or do the newest kits on the market have more interest.
Do the buyers seem to have a preference, or is quality of work mainly what they are looking for?

Would be helpful to know where to spend those dolly dollars.
Thanks, Linda

It just depends. The newer kits do sell better at first, but you have to get them done immediately, so that you are one of the very first people to get them done. If I were you, I would invest in the dolls that are always good sellers, such as Elly Knoops Luca, Secrist Zoe, and the Berenguer sleeping rosebud face.

Also, FYI BB is having a huge sale right now, so if you wanted to try one of their sculpts, you can get a good deal right now. They have some very cute babies, but be forewarned that their vinyl color is awful and needs a lot of color correction.

All of AS sculpts are very popular right now. I have made a few of them and have two of them on ebay now. She has made so many sculpts, so fast, I think they are flooding the market now and people are now wanting to see other sculptors babies.

I've never had a problem with BB sculpts, I think they are very nice, I just have'nt seen any of theirs lately that I really like.

I think that serious doll collectors, that spend a lot of money, want the most popular dolls and especially prototypes. I like making newer dolls, but like Heather said, you have to get them out pretty quickly.

I usually try to keep up with what is selling best and reborn that sculpt, if I like it. But yes, there are always the old standards that people still love.

There are a lot of great reborners out there, in my opinion, buyers like to buy their dolls depending on who their favorite sculptor is. It's good to research what people are buying at the time you are deciding what sculpt to buy.

Hope this helps, janet

You could also go to evilbay and do a search on reborns/newborns and see how many of which sculpt seems to go for more.

Some of it is the scuptor, some the seller, and some don't go at all or not very high because sometimes newbies put them on there when they think they're ready and they still need to perfect their technique. So it's kind of all over the place. And yes, A.S. dolls are flooding the market right now. Just keep an eye on the dolls sales for a while. You should see a pattern.
