Hi everyone, I have started to work on 2 different babies at the same time. Look at my pics and notice the different vinyl colors. One is Missy a secrist sculpt and the other is Morgan from BB. Morgan is the bigger of the 2. Of course I love the vinyl color of the secrist best. I couldn't get the Morgan sculpt to lighten up. I am going to try the mint wash I have read about on the Morgan. I havent done any crease or lip color yet.
I think it would be better if they were layed on an ear or like some one suggested a board with wooden pools to hold them on while they are in the oven.
Thanks June, I will lay them on a ear from now on. I don't want to go through that again. Do you are anyone else think I am getting my babies too pink or too much mottling?
If that is your final layer, I'd say to tone down the cheeks and forehead some.
That BB vinyl is usually really pink and sometimes pinky-purple. It really takes some color adjusting. I have several from there. I do like the sculpts they have. But I do like Secrist and DD vinyl the very best. Its such a neutral flesh color. :)
Thanks Pat I will do that. I had a friend tell me she thought they were a little too pink. I fixed the places that were melted when the Morgan sculpt hit the rack. Now I am going to try to tone it down a little. Doing two at a time was only to see if I could get the BB baby to look like a Secrist. Haven't had any luck yet. I will show you the final look wheh I am finished.
I am working on the BB and all I have to say is "Yikes!" what a harsh pink tone! This is my second and my first was a secrist (still working on) I put a layer of mint on and it toned it down alot but it now looks pinkish purple. Any advice Pat? I called BB and asked about the pink tones and they said just add a bit more skin tone but I donlt think that will cut it..lol
Now that you have a totally "different" pinky/purple tone you'll have to go back to your color wheel and find out the color you need to neutralize that and add it to your flesh. I had to do that with my Avery. Now she is a very light fleshtone but I can at least work with that. You might have to stop comparing them as I don't think the BB vinyl will ever match the Secrist. But hey if it does, then you got that going for you!!!
It is so hard to figure out what color it is..lol I am going to say pinkish grey and I heard yellow corrects that which makes since. I will say the color is better than before. I am airbrushing my base layers on which is turning out perfect. Has fine pores and an almost velvet feeling skin texture. Thank you!
It is just really hard to decide on what color the bub is but I went with yellow. It turned out a beautiful light olive tone. To poster asking about creases I went with the brown family. I heard not to put reds and purples on the BB kits due to them already having that tone. Working on rooting now!
I have to agree with you Heather! I will never buy pink kit again..lol I am happy with my tone but I had to do ALOT of layers which means alot of paint used! I see they have a few peach tones and hope they do all of them in peach tones soon. They do have some great sculpts.
Ya they do! I just make sure I do my green color-correct first before any other steps. Really saves a lot. Has anyone tried their darker vinyl kits for the bi-racials? If so , how did you like it? I have just gotten a box from Secrist with their new darker vinyl. It's EXTREMELY translucent! Can't wait to work on it! Maybe this weekend when I can't stand to do any more homework! lol
Ya, I think I added a bit to much green to mine so put a yellow layer over and it worked! I just ordered a Secrist kit too! Can't wait to get it. I have to say when I start a doll I don't want to put it down..lol Same thing when I sew.
Which one did you order? I wish I had the time to devote and not put them down once I start. I have not only family, this forum and one other, plus I go to college full time nights and have homework! YIKES! No wonder I can't get them done quicker.
