Removing black hole marks

Try washing your head (I mean the dolls head hehehe) with some shampoo (not harsh stuff) and see if that helps. It should at least lessen it. Be sure not to use too hot of water or scrub the hair otherwise it will matt up. I hope you have changed needles so you don't get those marks? I would just throw that needle away. I don't know why but some needles to cause that mark on the hole when rooting.
I'm not sure if the hot/cold routine will take the marks away or not since I have not had them. And with that method you don't have time to do anything in between plunges!

I have found that I sometimes get those marks when first starting to use a new needle. Most of the time though, the needle stops leaving the marks after the first few holes. So, what I have done is use a test piece to poke my first few holes with a new needle until it leaves a clean hole. It must be caused by a residue from the process used to form the needle.

Push the needle in and out of a raw potato or an apple a few times, then rinse under hot tap. The needle won't leave black marks.

oohh!, that's a good tip about the potatoe. The needles I use are excellent but I get the the black marks too. I will be trying the potatoe tip from now on, Thanks Cas.

I just use a cotton ball with alcohol and wipe them down before I use them. Takes the black off of the needles.

I've been cleaning the needle now and, voila!, no more black marks!
