Hello everyone, I haven't been on for a while as I have been busy with my head down the toilet due to lovely morning sickness, YUK, LOL. Some of you may remember me from my posts about my Ember doll that I was having trouble with because of the very pink vinyl. I have just finished painting and rooting my "cryer doll" by Donna rubert whose vinyl was (I think) even more pink/purple than Ember was but now, thanks to everyones tips and advice, this colour vinyl is my favourite to work with. She turned out Perfectly. Anyway (I'm waffling now, LOL). what I was actually wondering is whether anybody has done one of these dolls or a similar doll. The problem is she has a breast plate which the head fits onto and the head only has a tiny hole in the bottom of it. The hole isn't even quite 1cm across. It was big enough to get a brush in to spread the glue to seal the rooted hair but I was wondering how long the glue will take to dry. I glued it three days ago and it has hardly started to dry yet. I have put all the body together and sewn the neck closed ready to put the breast plate on and I am now VERY impatiently waiting to get the head fittied and dress her. I can't wait to see her all finished but what I don't want to do is put her together if there is a chance the glue is still wet and have mould growing in the head. I can just reach in to feel the glue around the hair line but I can't reach the crown to see if it is drying there (such a tiny hole, don't want to get my little porky finger stuck, LOL). Any ideas on how long this glue may take to dry anyone??? Like I said, I don't want a mouldy doll or it will look like a zombie, he he!! THANKS. Karen. X
Hi Karen! Congratulations on the reason for your morning sickness! When are you due? Boy or girl? Oh do tell!!!!
Anyway, welcome back to forum. Since it is such a tiny hole it may take as long as a week or two to completely dry. You are right for not wanting to rush this part. It also depends on if you added water to the glue and how much. If you can, put the opening by a fan and just let it sit for a few days. That should help the circulation in the head.
Hi Pat, Thanks for the reply, guess I will have to be super patient with this one. I can't wait to see her all finished, DEFINATELY my best so far. I will have to start a new baby and leave her for a while. I will see if my husband will help me to get a few pictures up on the showcase when I am done. I wouldn't have a hope of doing it myself, I'm definately not a computer person, LOL.
Thanks for your kind wishes on my growing bump. I'm only 18 weeks so a while to go yet. I'm due 7th March but I won't be able to tell you what it is as we are not going to find out with this one. It is our last, I have 3 children already so this being the last we thought we would keep it as a surprise. I promise to tell you after the "event" Thanks again for the info. Karen. X
Hi, I don't know if Donna Rubert does a lot of kits in vinyl but don't take my word for it, it's just that there were a few to choose from on her web site but most are gone. There is a limited number of the cryer doll which I have and I can tell you she is stunning. My baby has turned out absolutely beautiful (even if I do say so myself, LOL) If you go to www.rubertdolls.com and scroll down the page there is a little bubble that says vinyl kits and you can order direct from them, but hurry if you want one as there is a notice that goes across the screen that says that they are now very limited.
