Still working on Joey poor baby never going to get him done. Still rooting the hair . Thought I would put in his eyes he takes 22 mm eyes.I just thought Joey keeps looking at me so sad without eyes. He's probably really thinking when are you doing to get me done? HA! HA! What I've read you cut those two vinyl things behind the eyes. Easier said than done. You can't put them thought the front because the eye is so big. Can you ladies help me out ???? Thanks for your advice and have a good day. LINDA
Hello Linda, You can heat the head and insert from the front or cut through tom the back and insert from inside, when you place eyes in , to have them in the correct position, the light spots, if you look in somes eyes, should be in the same place in both eyes. So should your reborns. Are they half round, full, or oval, and what is the socket like. June M from Oz.
The eyes are half eyes. The doll eyes have a vinyl cover in the back of the eye inside the head and it covers the whole eye. . Looks like it has to cut open. Easier said then done. I'm thinking though I bought eyes from the doll teacher and the are for a poreclain doll. They are real hard. Are the eyes you buy from Secrest or BB real hard were you maybe could squeeze them together and put them in the eye? To tell you truth I'm really getting discouage on making these dolls I want to make these so bad. Thank you for your help and time. Have a good day. LINDA
Linda, If you have a teacher, she should be helping you do this, she is getting paid for her time. But if you can do it yourself, then I suggest you cut the back of the eye and insert from inside as you would a porcelain doll and then glue flap back after they are in position, with E6000 glue, if they are a little loose you could probably put a bit of wadding in first. The eyes should be hard unless you are using silicone eyes. If you just cut around the edge of the vinyl circle on the back of the eyes (inside the head) you should be able to insert the eyes from the inside if the head. It does take some manuervering to get them in. Use an Xacto knife to cut the vinyl and use your fingers to insert the eyes. I put a paintbrush throught the eyesockets (from the front) to hold the flap open.
HI JUNE & Heather, Thanks for the adivce. I will give this a try. I'll try what ever you ladies tell me you know more about this than I do.Like I said I really want to do this. I have Taffy waiting for me but I want to do this one right first and hope to get some of the facts down before I jump into another one. Thanks again for your help and advice. Have a good evening! Linda
Linda, you have a good evening too. If at first you dont suceed, try, try, again. Start with a second hand doll from an opp shop, all you have to do is strip the paint off with acetone and wash it well and let it dry, that way it doesn't matter if you stuff up. Or get a cheap,Berenguar from Target in Australia.EG, I think they talk about Walmart in Usa. June M from Oz.
