Here are some pics of Phoebe in process. I just started rooting last night for the first time with 42G German needles. I absolutely love these needles!! I had originally planned on giving her a very light brown hair color but it hasn't come in yet so I decided to go ahead and use medium brown. I'll try to post more pics as I'm finishing. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.
Very beautiful! It sounds like you connected with the German needles easily. I just bought some and will use them on my next baby, but I'm a little nervous about trying them. Do you have any tips? Your baby's hair is lovely!
I started off practicing on a practice limb for a few minutes to find the right direction for the needle. The German needles have a little fork at the end and I just made sure the flat part was facing up with the little forked notch facing the side when I was rooting. I use a wooden rooting handle and marked where the flat part of the needle was facing on the metal part of my handle using a permanent marker so I wouldn't have to keep straining my eyes trying to find the correct position. (It wipes off with solvent if you need to replace the needle) I don't really know if this is the right way of using them but it worked perfectly for me. I like the German needles because they seem to make a smaller hole and root the hair deeper for me. They also seem to be quicker and easier. The other needles I was using seemed to be triangular in shape leaving a rougher hole.
I purchased mine from DD. They were $9.90 for ten needles plus shipping. MacPhearsons also has them. I'm just about done with rooting. I'm excited! I didn't break a single needle this time. Yay!! I think maybe the german needles are stronger because with my regular needles I would break at least two before I was finished.
Tesa, It looks marvelous, waiting on next lot of pics. Can't get them from the supplier over here, will have to settle for 1 barb 40,s (((HUGS))) june M from Oz

Tesa, you are doing a really good job on the rooting. I like that method. Glad you like the no barbs. I still haven't gotten the hang of them. I'm still with the triangular 1 barb but do OK. I might have to take a look at them again.
I haven't been on the forum much lately. I've been really busy at work during the day and taking some continued education courses at night. Here is a picture of Baby Phoebe finished.
Tesa, She has turned out so beautiful, you make me envious that my Pheobe got buggered.Oh well we all try again. June M from Oz.
Elli, The lips on the first one are a bit heavy,You need to tone it down,But the second baby has a lovely shade. Just my oppinion, don't take it to heart, it is only meant to be healpfull.
Your Phoebe looks really nice. The coloring looks just right. Did you enter her in the contest? I don't remember seeing her. :o
And June hun, can you try to put all your comments to people in one post (just skip a few lines like I do in between)? I have been putting them together. I know you want everyone to feel special (and they do because you comment on all the posts) but try to condense them into one if you can. :)
Ok, I'll go look again! :) good luck in the contest! :)
Well, I looked again in the contest babies and I did find them (don't give their numbers in forum) and I must admit I am impressed with how you did your Sunflower :) And I see Phoebe is wearing her little jumper. Cute.
I wonder why they are giving 2 choices for coverbaby? Hmmm, maybe too close for them to pick so they have a runner up or something? Or maybe that runner up will be the back cover baby. Still would be a cover baby, just not in front. Hmmmm, that's a thought.
There are quite a few Phoebe's, Danielle should be proud that so many artists entered her sculpt! :)
I did my Sunflower to look like my sister when she was a baby. She was born with a headful of pale blonde fuzzy hair and very deep brown eyes. She was so cute. Now she is a very pretty 29 year old. I'm four years older than her but we've always been best friends.
Well she's very darling :) My girls are 13 years apart and they don't talk much. One is in another state (about 900 miles away) and she only really communicates the "drama" that she creates. I wish they were closer. Amanda does miss her sister Dani though.
