One of your problems is holding the head, Where the post would be helpfull, the other is when you have to hold the mohair and root at the same time,Try to use micropore tape, the white tape they use at the hospitals or similar type. to position the hair in place. I don't know if the needle would be able to go through this, but you could try.weirdfaceJune M from Oz

I'm so happy that June came up with a wonderful suggestion. I was thinking and thinking about your question and couldn't come up with a good solution.  June has a good idea, and I'll be anxious to hear if it helps with rooting your mohair.
