Took my Juliette to school today!

I got quite the response!  I've taken others to school and have had a mixed reaction.  There is one teacher and one coach (Reading coach) who like the dolls so they are the reason I took her in today (both were there).  I got *so* many compliments I was stunned!  Even my principal complimented her!

I also wanted to show my students (they saw her head half rooted) and they really liked her too.  One of the boys asked me if I'd make one for him! LOL.  Most of my students I had last year (I have about 5 new ones) so they had been asking to see them in process.  (I took in a blank kit last week).

Anyhow,  I just wanted to share my news.  It made me feel really good to have people in "real life" have such a positive reaction!  I know many of you have had similar experiences taking your babies out into the public so you understand my excitement!

oh how cute the little boy student being so taken with her!!!

when i did the craft show there was a lollie-man in the stall next to me (candy for the USA members who don't know what lollies are) - anyway, you can imagine how kids are drawn to lollies normally and he was giveing out free smaples - but most the children didn't even notice him they were too taken looking at my babies!!!

Also we've been having some outdoor renovations here this week, the guy doing it is my eldest brothers old house mate. His daughter came today to spend time with him and "help" him (she's 11). She's not a girlie girl at all, but when i showed her the babies she loved them and asked her dad to buy her one!!! Knowing how much of a tomb-boy that she is it was just a little more of a complement that she like them.

It honestly is the best feeling as far as how others react. She was my favorite as soon as I finished her. Who knows, maybe that is why others liked her so much too! I do think seeing a "big" baby is part of it.

I haven't been brave enough to take one along with me anywhere. I thought about putting one in a car seat for newborns in the back seat of my car. Then people would panic and probably call the police on me if I left it locked in the car while I went in someplace. Maybe I will do this, but put a sign on the baby that says "THIS IS NOT A REAL BABY".

I carry mine in a tote bag! I made a sling baby carry but because the limbs are hard it was uncomfortable!

Hi, Loves!

That's great that you took your baby to school! What a good teacher you are! Kids love to learn new things, and they love to learn more about their teachers' interests. Those kids might not remember everything about the subject matter you're teaching, but years from now, they'll be telling their own kids about the teacher they once had who made baby dolls that looked so real!

I took one of my babies to a restaurant since I was meeting a friend for lunch--and the baby was her Christmas gift. I was really taken back when the waitresses starting gathering around our table as my friend opened her gift, and one gentleman, who had been making drinks behind the bar, asked me if I wanted to go into business with him! My friend and I had a good laugh. I thought we were having a private moment exchanging Christmas gifts, and all of a sudden, we had a crowd at our booth.

BTW, that was so sweet that one of your boys wanted a baby doll. He'll probably make a terrific dad.

Rosemarie, He wasn't wanting to go into that sort of business of making dolls, if you get my drift. June m from Oz

This is true.  I certainly new nothing about the things my teachers were interested in but I find it helps to build positive relationships for my students to see that I have artistic interests.  They love asking me questions.  They have even asked me if I'd teach them how to make one!
