My Basic Starter Kit with Jasmine came!!! I'm so excited! It was all a bit different than I expected, though. The head is about 2/3 of the size of my 22" Berenguer babies, but the 1/4 limbs are about the same size. Actually, the limbs were a little longer. I tryed semi-attaching them on the 19" unstuffed body, and they reached to the bottom of the torso. Is that too long or out of correct proportion'? The paints were smaller than I expected, and the 2 lb. pack of glass beads was small too. The paint thinner seemed small as well. Interesting, huh? Anyways, I hope it'll work alright.
I had a few questions before I start painting. I don't have an oven thermometer, as it was beyond my budget. Is that okay? Is it better to do the oven a little hotter or a little cooler? What is the Secrist vinyl's melting point (I don't want to melt my baby!)? Any tips on this would be great.
Also, do I paint the scalp or not? Or do I do just some of the paints on it? Can anyone tell me which ones (if any)?
Thank you all so much. I really appreciate all the help on this forum. You guys are amazing!!!

Yeah well here in Auz i set my oven to 130 degree and i have a light on my oven that tells me when the temp is set, i then place my doll in that oven for 10 to 13 mins. I also watch my dolls when i bake them just to make sure they are safe and wont melt.
painting wise, you mix the liquid paint thinner to thepain and make the paint as runny as you can and then you use a small spunge and dab it in the paint and onto the doll. You can paint as many or less layers as you like, and if you make a mistake, you can always paint over it or remove it =)
Hope that helps. There are many online versions that can help you how to paint and start your dolly!
Crafty Chick, I,M back on line and I lnow its a bit hard trying to get the paints the right colour, but I didn't think it was that much of a pain. LOLJune M from Oz
Andrea, Jasmine is a lovely sculpt, she is the one I got 95-100 and lost 3 points for not making her cloths, just goes to show judges, don,t know everything. The only difference I would make is to bring her hair line a little more forward.June M from Oz
yes i found this with my own Jasmine - esp the length of the upper arm. To me the arm length & upper arm is long enough to be a full length not a 3/4. So anyway to bring this a little more to proportion i used a very small upper arm fabric area attachment bit. My mother makes my body's so was about to get her to alter the upper arm fabric part. I still thought they were too "beefy" for the size of the head though, and found it looks best with full sleeves to hid this. I think this sculpt would work well with marissa may's limbs from BB as they are skinnier and better proportioned for a simalar head size.
My Jasmine came with 1/4 limbs, could I do the same thing (shorten the fabric arm)? Or are the 1/4 limbs okay the way they are? Maybe I should try making them 1/2 limbs. :)
