not good, not good. I am addicted and my credit card is paying the price! I am working on a Zoe and have a Louise to do, and now have a Jody, Rebecca and Luca on order not to mention the additional paints and stuff. I am going to have to cut up my credit card and start attending a support group for reborn artists. Please tell me this newbie addiction will calm in the next little bit LOL
HAHAHAHA i think you have a problem there my dear! I have a joint account with my partner and so i cant go nuts really on the dolls. what i do, i try to make one doll at a time and when im near the end of a doll, i then buy another one so then i have one there and ready for me to make.
However it does get a bit hard when there are specials on and sales and you just know that you are going to get a bargin! =)
YES!! YES !! I'm just starting and I'm a REBORN ADDICT !! Can't hardly wait to get to my doll to work on him. Forum addict too. Love getting on here and reading what all you Great ladies have to say. Were would I go to see about some bigger size dolls? Thanks for your help. Have a good day!
LOL, I like that we all have such fun. I am going to have to figure out ebay or something, I have bought but never sold there. I love dolls, always have. I have over 30 Mattel My Child Dolls even a few of the special Aussie ones that i am thinking I am going to need to sell to make room for Reborns. Hmmm my Fiance arrives on the 1st, I wonder what he is going to make of this....
I am pretty new as well and am just starting to learn about the different sources for reborn items but the gals here are great at giving advice so I am sure someone will let you know where to find some of the bigger dolls. Is it a toddler you are wanting?
Hi Ladies, Thanks for answering me. Christie I know what you mean about what your Fiance is going to think. My Fiance just kinda shakes his head and say old no another doll. I have about thirty porcelain dolls all around the house. He says "Everywhere I look somethings looking at me!" Yes I would like to do some toddlers and not just babies. Or maybe if their is some little kids. I just don't know what sizes vinyl comes in or is it just babies? I know what you mean Heather I don't have my first one done and I had another one come in the mail today. I have Taffy now to work on. He brought the box in to me and didn't ask what was in their he probably didn't have to. HA! HA! It came from secrist so that gave it away. Oh well have a good evening. Linda
I need to join a group too, Porcelain molds, Kilns, Accessories, Shoes, Socks Eyes, You name it, A material acholic and laces, Know this, even 00000 and 0000 baby cloths. It has to stop somewhere , I just don't know where, My husband thought it would be better to do something usefull with my time, So he's to blame. But when it cames to Porcelain Dolls they paid for them selves. I didn't sell many, he couldn,t bear to part with themJune M from Oz..
i sware i spend more money on baby cloths than i do for clothes for myself. Actually asides from a warmer winter coat i've not bought any clothes for me this whole year!!! I can't resist bubby clothing though, even though i have numerous outfits that i've not yet used i still keep buying more. Another 2 just yesterday morning!!!
Yes I know what you mean about buying for your babies before yourself. I'm always looking for baby things. I make porcelain dolls, I even making a silicone baby. I had a freind that gave me a crib. So now I'm going to set it up in the corner of my sewing room. I want to put my reborn babies in it. I 'm also look for little chairs and things to set my babies. So like you said when you buy for your dolls and babies theirs no money for your clothes. HA! HA! LINDA
I have four cribs, two in our bedroom ,so we don't have to put the monitor on. I also have an almost three year old that sleeps in the middle and last night, my husbanb said I had one foot on the floor to keep myself in bed. I,ve just gone mad on bottle making, because I don,t want to have to get up and make it in the middle of the night, that,s for my babies. Yes and cloths do come last, but what do we need them for, they only wear out. I,m a cheapy, I wait to the end of seasons and buy then. My middle Daughter, Rachel, just bought me three dressing gowns, only $5.95 each, I,ve tought them to shop well, usually she is the one that thinks nothing about spending$1000,s of dollars on a ring. And me a $5.95 gown.LOLJune M from Oz
Cut up the credit card, and whenyou go shopping put what you think you need inyour trolley and I,ll bet bythe time you get to the checkout, you will have put 1/2 the stuff back. the other thing is to get a debit visa that way you can only spend your own money and you won't like that.
Hi Christie, I love My Child dolls....I only have 3 though...I`m always looking on ebay to see if there are any cheap enough for me....I am also addicted to Reborning...what a great addiction!! you spend lots of money but you don`t hurt anyone..I am also always looking at Baby Clothes in the shops..much more fun than buying for myself
PM me your email addy and i will take pics of the ones I have and send them over to you. You can take a look to see if there are any you are interested in and i will give you first dibs before listing on ebay or selling locally. I have had them for years now and am not really looking to make much profit but mostly to make room as I now have the reborns and my fiancee just moved in and we are so cramped!
Hahaha! "Stands up proudly" "Hello, my name is Meghan and I am a reborn addict"
Saw this post and just had to join in. Does this mean we have to stop?!?! Cause I don't wanna!
On a side note, sorry I have not been posting here as frequently, we have been on vacation on and off over the last few weeks, and I have been working on my Zoe and my Teagan in the meantime.
i too have a cradle and pram, and one of those baby rocker seat thingy's... and i've never even had a real baby LOL. At least i'll have everything when the real baby comes along!!!
You have to laugh at us all though, something you do for fun turns into an obbession, a realy addictive one. When we shift, I think there will only be room under the sewing bench for me to sleep. June M from Oz
Yes, it is addicting. I learned the hard way about that when I was sewing. I ended up getting rid of a ton of fabric and patterns when I moved to California. Now I only have on hand (kits) what I know I can do on my next break. Right now I have four. I have 3 weeks of school left before my first break of the 08-09 school year. I hope to completely paint at least 2 of them. One for my aunt for her birthday and the other my Sparrow. I may save the other two for December or February as I have 6 days of break already taken up with trainings!
Ummm...I lost count, but I think I have about 30 some kits/dolls that are waiting for me...and now I am working full-time teaching college. I will never get to them all!
