My Berenguer Baby 2nd try
Permalink

Comments and tips for future dolls welcome.  This  is my second attempt.  The first was cute but turned out shinny.  Since then I have gotten my Genesis paints that cure that problem biggrin.  I am using the cheaper dolls until I get better and will then attempt one of the more expensive kits found here and other places online.  I'm hoping this site will be a bit different than others I have posted too were folks ignore your posts?
Thanks,
KForbes

hi forbes - welcoem to the forum... i think you will find it different here, everyone is so friendly and lovely - there seems to be a real family feel to this board. One of the main reason that this is the only place i post.

Your little boy is so lovely ... i started out using the berrenguers myself. I think i'd done 7 before doing my first "real" kit.

Picture number 3 is my fave i think... but he does look so adorable in #4 with his little hat on too, he looks adorable in all the pictures and i think you should be really proud of how he turned out.

Hi, KForbes!  Your baby is so cute!  I really like the third and seventh pictures.  Those little crossed ankles in picture three are darling, and I love seeing a little baby grab her toes like in the last picture.

Everyone on this forum is lovely.  You'll have a lot of fun here--and it's a great place to learn a lot, too!

Thanks for sharing your baby!   aww

Thanks so much for your reply and comments.  I hope to make some new friends here and maybe learn a thing or too along the way about reborning.  I suspect though that learning by doing and making mistakes is the best teacher.  I have read many wonderful online post with tips and hints that have been very helpful.
thanks  again

Well Kathy, Had to be a sticky beak before I posted so I knew what the K was for, and where you were from. You are most welcome on this forum, welcome to our family, we don't just talk about our reborns, life has a lot to offer, and a damm lot to share, If we don't share or knowledge, then how are the younger generation going to follow. I love all your photo's but because Tomatoe Jam 77 has a thing for Pooh Bear, I'll probably pick no 3 also. Did you sand the head before that word (we arn't realy ....) rooting, Did you also break a few needles, I broke 4 with my first which was a Berenguar. It took a long time to root the head, and because I went to a class, used AS artist oils she isn't a very prized possession. But ,then we have to love all our babies, we created them.weirdfaceJune M from Oz

Hi thanks for getting back to me. With my first baby I didn't use Genesis paints and got a very shinny baby but of course I didn't know the term pounce either LOL.  I think I jumped in a little too quick the first time before I got enough information.  I will attach a pic of her here.  The second little guy posted here "Billy" did have his head sanded with a small dremel.  I used course sand paper first and then fine.  I don't think I really like to do this because it makes a different color in the vinyl, but of course it is covered with hair after.  Yes in the duration of doing two dolls I broke about 4 needles.  I used size 36 3 barb and tried the 38 but I kinda prefer the 36.  The first two babies had lots of hair but I want to try one with just thin scant hair so will probablyuse a finer needle with less barbs.   There are just so many ways to try that I will need to do a lot of babies to try all this stuff.  I did buy a secrist sculp "Tayla" to try later on when I get better.  The little face looks a lot like my grandaugher at birth and Im going to try to recreate her.
By the way my first reborn I purchased from a nice lady"Dawn Pecenka - from Once Upon a Daydream Nursery.  She did a wonderful job in making a baby that looked like my grandson.  After that I was hooked and wanted to try on my own.  I have always wanted to collect baby dolls but when you are younger and have a family to take care of and bills to pay its kinda tight money wise.  Now that the kids are grown and on their own I have a few more bucks to spend.
The lighting for these pics was really bad.  I need to take her outside in natural lighting on a nice day and maybe they would be better.....

i see what you mean about the shine on your first bub, i attempted painting with acrylics once, and it was horridly difficult... thank god for the invention of genesis!!!

you mentioned the dremel changing the colour of the vinyl... i started on the berenguers and i sanded their heads also but i didn't have any dis-colourisation - did you remove the painted colour if the hair with acetone first??? or maybe your sandpaper disk thingy's are whats changing the colour... mine never changed any so am wonderign why you have this problem.

Anyway, you'll love working secrist kits... they are so much easier to work then the berenguers you're in for a lovely surprise. Actually secrist really are the most user friendly to work with... no other brand i've done has even came as close, DD are probably a second, but still secrist are a dream.

look forward to getting to know you more and seeing your next baby
