Called Macphersons about my order this morning and they are waiting to get the rest of the stuff in from Secrist before they can send it. *Sigh* so it will be next Tuesday or Wednesday before it is even in the mail. I am too excited to wait much longer I want to get going! Hmmm maybe some more shopping for clothes and things this weekend as I have to wait, I was also thinking of making a label out of the printable t-shirt iron ons so maybe I could do that in prep of ironing on to the bodies.
I know how you feel. I placed an order on Tuesday and still haven't got a tracking number for it! I would understand *if* I had purchased a doll but I bought paint, eyes, and a book on CD. It can't take but 5 minutes to throw it in a box and ship it! Arghh! I have no idea why they are so painfully slow. They *have* charged my credit card which they shouldn't do until they've actually packed it and are ready to ship.
i do a t-**** printing iron-on transfer which i put on the backs of all my babies, it has a pretty little baby print boarder and includes all the babies info - the ID# (which i give to all my babies), the babies name, the reborn date, the sculpt it was birthed from and my own name as well as the "precious lullabies" name.
in years to come when certificates have been lost all this info will still be there on the babies back.
An artist should always sign their work and I have used the iron on method for other things I have made. Naomi what do you do if it is an all vinyl body? Seems a shame to write on the doll. Making sure you include your name means the person can get back in touch years later if they want something fixed or if they have a friend who now wants one and if on the doll it can't be lost like a business card :0)
On my porcelain dolls I used to inscribe before they were fired. That way it was permanent, now with the reborns I use a permanent pen, that way I feel that it is personal to each baby I reborn. With the porcelain dolls, I would inscribe a title of a song, like on my Aussie dark Jackaroo, I put Old Man River. One of my Julia,s I put, You are My Sunshine because I had a human hair wig made from one of my best friends nieces and her Father used to sing it all the time. Just a sentimentist, I suppose.June M from Oz.
When I did ceramics I would carve my initials in it if I was working in greenware. If I was working with something already fired I'd paint them on! I've not done anything with my dolls. Perhaps I should sign my Alex before she goes to auction at the end of Sept. I should easily be able to get a hold of the other two babies two sign.
I'm seriously thinking about doing what Naomi suggested and doing some kind of iron on or stitch on label. Then I could more easily keep track of their "birth" dates.
