Hi i have probably put this in the wrong section but i was wondering what glue type you can use to glue the eyes in ??? Also for wet eyes do you use the baby tears (paper glaze) ??? i dont want to create actual tears but want wet looking eyes, do you brush it on or just drizzle it on or ....??? Thanks in advance :o)

Are you glueing the flap of the eye socket inside of a vinyl dolls head? If so, you can use E6000 craft glue and apply it by putting a big dab on a wooden craft stick (like a popsicle stick) and apply it over the whole flap of eye socket inside of the head. You want to put it on a little thick. Don't worry Your eyes won't pop out, then just let it dry over night. Be sure to do this after all painting is done if you are using heat set paint because this is not oven safe.
Using baby tears you can put a little on the eye and lay the doll on its back until dry but be careful not to put to much or your baby wil have teary eyes. You can also paint it on.
I don't glue eyes in. I insert them through the front. I've found that if the eye sockets are a big roomy in the back that when I stuff the head, it fixes the problem.
I do use paper glaze to make the eyes moist. I don't use anything in the nose. Babies only have wet noses if they have colds, in my experience!
When I use the E6000 I make sure to set the head, eyes down, in a bowl so the glue doesn't ooze anywhere I don't want it while it's drying.
If you just want a shine on the eyeball and not a teary-eyed baby, I use a takalon brush and a very thin layer of the baby tears (paper glaze). If I want more then I just put on more and kind of spread it or let it travel by itself, still putting the head in a bowl but face up this time.
You can't do this will ALL the kits hun but just with some.
You have to heat the head so it's soft enough (about like 200 degrees for not more than 5 minutes). Carefully take the head out (wear gloves or something to protect your hands from the heat). Take your half round eyes, start by putting the back edge in and push them in. Be careful as sometimes they can go in backwards and you gotta hurry and turn them before the vinyl cools off. then just position them and let the head cool. You must be careful as some of the vinyl could tear so you always have that on your mind. Also, the Corey and Lollipop heads are not good for doing that way as their eyes will tear (or you will break his head squishing it enough to get them in/out like I did!!!!!). :o
I haven't had a problem with that using the takalon brushes. I use a flat (or filbert if I can find one). Just make sure to wipe the brush on a towel to get any loose peices off before you start. :) Then I hold it at an angle almost parallel to the surface of the eye.

This is how I do it except I insert them right after I've pulled them out of the oven for their last baking cycle. (In my case, that is the matte varnish phase). I do have to be super careful because the vinyl has been in the oven for 10 minutes at 265 degrees Farenheit at this point! I've done this with: Jacob by Shawna Clymer, Anouk by V/D Wetering, Missy by Secrist, and Tayla by BB. I think Missy is the only one I didn't do at the end of the baking cycle, but I did insert her eyes through the front. (Just to clairfy).
