abandoned baby donations

Bless your heart Naomi (((big hugs))) if i had any i would send them to you hun but i dont have any at all im going stir crazy cause i cant paint myself at the moment no kits! I donate one of my babies every year ive done this since i first started what i do to fund this is every doll i sell i put away $20 to $50 from the sale that is my donation baby money, I have two old age homes left here in mildura to give babies to the rest all have one of my bubbas, but this year i have a very special little girl with cancer and I have promised my donation baby to her, her mum bought one of my dolls of ebay and little Angelica fell inlove so im giving her one to take with her for comfort when she has her chemo etc, what i do have is some second hand baby clothes that i know i will never use they are all in good condition i would be happy to send them to you so you can have somthing to dress them in just let me know if you would like them hun ((((hugs)))

thanks Leah - i think its cool that you've already been donating to homes, and the young girl with cancer, well how special that would be to her also.

Actually i wouldn't have expaected you'd have had any kits gone wrong, with your tallent i know you'd be able to re-work them yourself.

I'm thinking of maybe adding to my ebay sales that 5% - 10% of the final sale would go towards purchasing kits for this purpose also. If i use secrist kits, especially the preemies, then i should be able to do and afford one donation baby a month or somthing.

Who knows where i might take this, your mention of the girl with cancer has me thinking of PMH (the childrens hospital here) also.

I might even contact some of the companys about their seconds kits being dontated ... BB do sell their "quality seconds", but i'm sure every company must have kits that have flaws at times which means that they cant sell them.... hmmm ok i really need to get working on a website, i could then look at this in more depth and have a page dedicated to donation babies for the nursing homes and even childrens hospitals... the sky's the limmit really.

bless your heart hun PMH is wonderful and so close to you, the ward your looking for is Ward 3B that is the ward that the little babies and children who have cancer stay on, on my website there is a little picture and title Little Angel Baby Blake he is a little one from ward 3b if you have time take a look at his story, sadly he passed away last week bless his little heart I was able to help in a small way by using my babies to bring ppl to the webpage i made him, this was to help pay his medical bills ppl from all over the world donated to help him and his beautiful family, you are right the sky is the limit in the way we can help so many with this beautiful gift we have. bless you (((hugs)))

i was just reading what you put... sorry i dont have any kits at all to donate but with the sick children .... i just had a brainwave what about the 6" secrist triplets reborned... any little person would love a tiny little baby to love ... what do u think ??? also i thought being 6" could be reborned quicker and smaller for a child to hold and love ... ??? chat soon, Kaz.

thats a fantastic idea Kaz... i tend to forget about the 6" kits... gosh i could probably do one of those in the matter of 2 or 3 hours seeing as i did my "Alexander" (zoe boy in avatar) in 7 start to finish!!!

I've not done a 6" as yet, but that is a perfect idea esp for the childrens hospital factor in that you get three of these little ones in a set, the cost outlay is so very little. but i'm sure they would be a real blessing to some of the kids and pree-teens in oncology. Teens would probably preferr the usual preemie sized. Not all would like the idea, but i'm sure many would be thrilled with a little bundle of joy to accompany them through treatment and also provide a topic of conversation and distraction from the treatment they're under going and the ever present "c" word hanging over them.

Naomi , why not take these abandoned babies and do them for them to raffle, that way they can purchuse ones that wont matter if they are dammaged or ruined. The person who wins it will be appreciate it and cherish it, because she purchased a ticket to be able to win it. Thats what I did for Ronald McDonald house and they raised $1200. I have also done some for the cancer foundation, IVF, Heart foundation, and the Prince Charles Hospital as well as all the raffle dolls for the doll club I was in. The Ballerina I did for the Prince Charles Hospital raised over $3000, also did one for a nursing home. Spread the love arround. weirdface

ya know Naomi just a thought here but if you donated a set of the triplets to the hospital itself the nurses could hand out a baby to a child undergoing their chemo or waiting for operations etc could you imagine a little child with cancer looking forward to chemo treatment so they get to change a nappy on one the little babies etc you could give them names or let the kids choose a special name for each visit im getting just as excited as you here! hehe we dont have anything like PMH here we do have hospice and every baby i make i take to visit the lovely ppl in there they all get a hold etc and adore each visit its just lovely ((hugs)))

LOL now the only problem is i want all the 6" tripplet sets NOW!! lol

I only have the one kit i'm re-working right now, and no more supplies to come for about another week - 4 coming from BB and 2 form DD that i just ordered this morning.... hmmm think i'm going to place an order for the 6" sets now too.

i just got some from BB they should be arriving tommorow gosh fast postal they have, i dont want to start them though i really want my sassy bad! its been a week now and still no sign of her its not just cheaper ordering from usa its faster postal than aussie! i cant thankyou enough Naomi for pointing me in that direction (((hugs)))

Leah - i almost always find the international orders arrive quicker than australia post... why our postal servise is so slow i'll never know.

Just looked at the 6" sets... gosh they are tiny... are they *too* tiny i wonder for the purpose i'm thinking for?? Do they just become dolls instead of babies when we move to this scale???

I'd like to see them in person, those of you who've done these could you share what you think ?

I want them to be special babies... like Leah said, how much would it mean to parents to have their child actually look forward to going in for their chemo so they get to hold and have a play with a special *almost real* baby??!!!

you know your right ive done a few 10inch babies i do them as specail orders for mummys who have lost a small preemie, 6 inch might be a little small for children i think youd be safer to use the secrist 17inch that would feel more real to them and they are so reasonably priced in my opinion, the six inch babies however would be greatly appreciated at the older person home not so much for demintia people but there are people in there that have noone, no family to visit them they use their days watching tv and some dont bother to get out of bed having a precious little baby like the six inch triplet would mean the world to them hun (((hugs)))

Naomi I have the first set, and they are very tiny, I need to strip them and do their heads again, heard about the heat gun and thought i,d give it a try, shiny, shiny, shiny, $98 may be wasted but Macey loves them, so do my sons three girls, but I have 5 granddaughters, so that wont work. Also heard about lock tight , wish I hadn,t. Also you had to paint the eyes in one and though it,s no trouble in porcelain, I couldn,t get it to work, So cut them out and put in glass eyes. weirdface

yeah i think i'm more likely to stick with the 17" preemies... actually i use a 16" body slip with these - my mother makes my bodies and we felt that the 16" body is a little nicer on them.

as long as i order these from the US the cost is still so small that i should be able to purchase one from every sale i make... if not 2 depending on the closing sale on my actions.

ohhhh all this from just a random little thought this morning... it feels so exciting though.

well i am getting some of mine from BB at the moment if secrist had paypal i definetly be getting it from them though they are cheaper, genisis i get direct now they ar in perth Naomi pointed that out to me, the glues and oderless thinner etc i have ordered in to my local craft shop here in mildura, my bodies i get from rebornaustralia she has some new ones that i just love, i found vynettes reasonably priced for the secrist kits although i must say colectable kids has lowered her prices somewhat recently but the postage is still high.

i do use vyannetts for her eyes, and i also use lyns reborn world for her hair in the light brown and mid-brown straight mohair and for the german rooting needles.

i get my solvent (archival oils) from jacksons art supply here in perth, and the genesis aust distributor is also here in perth. Magnets i get from Lodstone industries - a place that deals only in earth magnets. I try and think about where other supply store/sites get their own supply and then try take the most direct root myself as eahc supplier after the direct one has to add their own proffit and so by finding the most direct root i can i tend to find you can almost cut your own costs in half... especially if you've prevously been order only from the few aussie reborn supply sites - most kits are double if not tripple the US cost.

Secrist main site will send orders internationally and are fine with credit card payments but if you want paypal see Buffington.

for other supply sites see the PM i just sent you.

I'm not really sure.... for the elderly i'd like to be able to give to the person for them to keep for their own... ward babies might be an option though for the children... really making it all up as i go along so time and finaces will really tell.

by going to the US you'll pay $89 for most of Stoete's kits... Stoete toddlers are about $125. And you get the bodies in these prices free.

the mid brown is only a shade or two darker... the light brown when rooted looks more like a darker blonde, the mid-brown looks more light brown once rooted. the buba in my avatar had the mid-brown from lyn's

yeah have a look-see at the webpages i've given you in the PM and you'll almost fall over yourself when you see what you could have been saving. Lucky for me i got given this tip very early on, after having only bought 2 kits from inside of Aust. I try and pass this info on to as many other aussies as i can b/c i know that i was saved allot of money by the person who directed me to international ordering.

Naomi,

You might consider doing some of the 9.5 inch Berenguer babies for the kids. I haven't done any 6 inch babies, but the 9.5 inch ones are cute. I think PC has some on sale right now. Also you might consider doing the Secrist 12 inch fairies. You could give them positive names like Hope and Faith and so on. Kids might like that.

Precious lullabies I would love your hints and tips for cheaper buying for doll kits, I am in Tasmania to, I am still unable to become member "computer says no!" Actually it says my account is still pending, I have just finished painting my first baby and just started to apply her hair I don't supose I can put my email up here? I can not look at any ones show case pictures up close because I am not a member so it is hard to compare my first baby with anyone else's and I have not had contact with anyone in Launceston to compare baby painting with either. There is one lady that goes to the Deloraine craft show in November I might have to wait till then to see her. Krista
