Is there anyone who could possibly guide me in a beginning purchase?
I am very new to this. I just ordered my first doll kit and I am overwhelmed with the amount of products.
My background is in the arts so I dont feel like a complete novice but is there a book or dvd that someone could recommend. I am interested in learning the realistic skin tones, veining and mottling techniques etc. Also is there a particular paint kit ? I just dont want to waste money on the wrong products.
Thanks so muchblankstare.gif

Melsam, Where are you from, The Secrist Doll Company have  books and dvd,s .on this craft, I have the 2008 Secrists Guide to Reborning, it has the pictures of their kits and tips on painting nails, lips, eyebrows and they have one on rooting the hair. If you have a background in arts, you can,t go wrong.weirdfaceJune M from Oz.

deffinetly worth investing in one of the instructional DVD's that secrist offers. Also when it comes to paints use the genesis.

what kit have you just ordered?

secrist products really are the best and easiest kits to start out on. And their tutorial DVD's are really fantastic... and all that you learn from secrist is transferable to other kit brands. The secrsit DVD go into techniques, and step by step "how too". And even better secrist are the friendlest on your budget when it comes to how well priced their products and sculpts are.

I agree. Buy the first Secrist dvd and some Genesis paints. And I would start with either a Secrist preemie or a Berenguer doll. Some of the other kits can be very tricky to work with. I think that the Secrist Zoe kit is one that turns out cute no matter what you do.
