I can't really see your color, but I know she will be a little cutie when finished. I made molly a couple months ago, she turned out nice but my husband said her limbs looks too big, I used the limbs that came with the kit, she looks ok to me, can't wait to see yours.
I know it doesn't show up much. Like I said, it drives me crazy because believe it or not she has 10 layers on her! My camera won't get up close. I've tried several times but it comes out blurry. These were the best shots I got. I think I'll just download the next shots directly so you can click on them for a better look. I wanted light so I could be more careful but it's nuts because it seems to be taking FOR-EV-A! Now looking at the pics, maybe I'll give her a darker tone tomorrow? Hummm.....I don't know. Maybe she looks plain because I still have much to do. Thanks for the lovely comments and encouragement
If you tick the attach images box at the bottom of your post you can upload them direct from your computer at full size, that way when we click on the image they will enlarge and we can see all your hard work
Something else you can try for your photos as well, If you crop them using your photo viewing program, or whatever you use, you might be able to get a closer shot that way, just by cropping it.
It is a bit hard to see but from what I can tell, the flesh coloring looks great. Yes when you upload the pictures in the bottom of your post box it will enlarge them so we can get a close up view. If you aren't seeing any difference in the coloring you could always add a touch more paint to your mix. After awhile you'll be a pro at getting the right consistency! So far though she looks great!
Can't see the detail in th photos, but from a distance the color looks pretty good.
I tend to think you should see some results with 10 layers of paint so it would be nice to see the larger images to see if there are any good suggestions we can offer.
Hugs,
Linda

Thanks so much for the suggestions and help. I put I-don't-know-how-many layers on today. She started looking alittle red and I was like.....oh man! You've got to be kidding me! But then I added a little green in the next layer and it took care of it to my liking. I added more color intensity and so far I'm pleased with the results. Tomorrow I'm going to do creases and final blushing (I hope) on hands and feet. I'll post some pics tomorrow. Linda I think this makes 12ish layers Is this the average? Or does everyone get the result they want with less?
emily, i think every babys different.some have as little as 5 and as many as 20.it's all to personal taste, i want to say my current babys on 8 layers and cricket took 5. can't wait to see new pic's. sage
I'm working on five now but did not get a chance to take pictures of the fifth baby. Here they are. Oh and I finally got little Ella almost put together. Would love feed back from you all. She did turn out to be one of my favorites.I just wished I would have used the smaller rooting needle when doing her hair. I think I'll get another and she should come out even better.

Wow, five babies?! You are busy! They are looking good. I like the coloring on your ethnic babies. The tone is very good! You are also doing well with the painted hair. I wish I could do it but I don't have that steady a hand. She would probably come out with wavy/crooked hair lol. However, I can't see if you have any mottling? I think the flash washed it out. But the tones are good! Putting the heads together was a good idea to see the difference between them. Now that hair, God bless you to do all that long hair. It is coming out lovely. I do have one question though. What is the blue around the fingers and toes of the last pic? I look forward to seeing them finished!
thanks emily , thats jamal he was a kingstate all vinyl baby who now has cloth bodyw/belly plate. his head is hard as rock so i was thinking wig but painting costs less. i believe his before and after pics are in the artist showcase if you want to see the difference. when do we get to see your baby? i'm on pins and needles. sage
Sorry Sage! I want to hug HIM! He is adorable you must admit. I couldn't find his before and after pics???? I think he looks so cute without the hair so it was a good call. Well, I've finished painting my Molly kit today. Checked on my mohair and "it's in the mail". So I guess I'm done with her until I can get the hair and match it for eyebrows. So here she is....be gentle. BTW my windows is doing some weird contrast thing so I hope it doesn't show here. Critiques and comments welcome.
Everyone's been really busy I see, They all look great so far! Got to get back to mine, I have two babes just waiting on hair. Poor things, I must get them started soon. Just not enough time in the day =(
Thank you ladies so much! I hope to be able to root her hair as soon as it comes. So happy I picked up a couple of outfits today and hope they will match her final outcome. Does anyone get as excited and shop before finished? Or do you wait until your done to see what the personality may be? I couldn't help it, there was a killer sale! lol Didn't get to start my Hailey kit yet. Ran errands and played taxi for my son and his friends.

emily, as to haily kit i was told to put 50/50 of matte varnish and thinner under the chin ,palms and in her mouth as these seem to be problem areas for dd babys. pm me if you want source. sage
Hi everyone, I am new here and new to reborning. I just finished my first reborn and actually sold him on ebay (much to my surprise). What a learning experience!! Now to wait for the buyers response. I am so nervous!!
I find i enjoy the painting, but the rooting? Oh boy how trying!! Hopefully my next will wont be quite so intimidating lol....
He is gorgeous Jilly! Welcome to our forum family. Hope you will like it here, I know I sure do! congrats on selling your first bub! Dee how are those? Have you found some good clothes. I wondered if the clothes were in good condition. Have you or anyone bought any of the clothes they offer on ebay in like lots of 10, 30, 50? I've seen them and some contain new clothes. Just wondering if they are what the pictures show. If so, then that's one heck of a deal.

I have not bought clothes on ebay, I like to see and touch what I buy, I love the garage sales you have to really look around to find the new clothes, but I do buy used ones that are really nice to show my dolls and keep the new ones just in case I get a buyer.
Jilly Hes adorable, his new mommy will love him! I've bought a few clothes off ebay and haven't had any problems. For the most part the newborn clothes are like new they never have a chance to really wear them out =) but I am careful as to what I buy. There are also several seller that sell new and handmade items at a reasonable price.
Oh thanks, I'll give ebay another look. I wasn't sure if they sold what was pictured. I think next time I see baby items at a garage sale I'll stop and take a look. I've been to a couple local consignment shops and the clothes were not in the best shape (stains, worn, musty smell). Hummm.....yeah.....I'll do that. Thanks again.
Jilly, great job on your baby doll, and congrats on the eBay sale! I couldn't agree more about rooting. I'm not a fan of it either. Welcome to the forum!
Hugs,
Linda

Hello Ladies, I hope you all are enjoying painting the babies Here are a couple more I've been working on. The first one you've see previously but here is Thomas and well....I haven't chosen a name for the third open-eyed one. I'm going to make her hispanic I think. I used both AR and Genesis paints and like the way they turned out. What you think?
Thank you ladies so much! The opened eyed one is my fav (so far) but I must say that Thomas is starting to warm my heart. Finally heard from Slumberland today. She said it takes 7-14 days so I should be getting it any day now. That's a relief! I thought it was lost in the mail. So soon these little ones will have some hair. Now I have to work on patience again so hopefully the rooting will come out okay.
Okay Ladies, so here is my Molly kit still in progress. This is my first attempt at micro rooting with the 43g German forked using the Clover Pen. I'm okay with it as it is much better than the rooting I did on my first two babies. And the eyelashes? Well..... don't like them. I think they are far too long for her age. I'm thinking of trimming them. Thomas is ready and I'm going to start rooting him today. I looked at this bub carefully trying to see where I went wrong. I still see holes! don't know what happened but let me know what you think. Kinda bummed at how she's turning out. I just need to wait for her lashes to set and them assemble.
EMILY, omg.....i love the hair . just send that baby right to my house......hurry.......lol i have to buy that needle pen thingy........my babies'll thank me.........YOU GO GIRL............ sage
I think your rooting is awesome, I agree with you about the lashes, have you thought about rooting them, or try the wispy lashes they are not thick or too long.
Thank you both!~ I had thought I bought wispy lashes but when they came in I just shrugged and said oh well. I guess this puts a delay on the others. Because Thomas's lashes are the same. Also I don't know what happened but Thomas' color is fading. I sealed him and all but I'm wondering if this is something with DD kits
Nice rooting job Emily! You can always trim those lashes right up =) I always root my sleeping babes (can't get the hang of putting those lashes on myself) What holes are you refering too? Great job
Thanks Tina I did trim the lashes today. Not too sure about them But the holes are from the rooting, I can see them. Don't know how to do it without leaving holes! I thought the german forked would be better to do without holes. I really think I'm doing it wrong. But thanks so much for not noticing them too much. I tried rooting the lashes but they were pretty wimpy so I took them out.
Great photo I must say!.... I agree with both Pat and Ronel that I would add a little color to the tearduct and also a little more color on the inside of the mouth..... Now this could be my eyes and maybe the angle of the picture, the left eyebrow is lighter in color than the right eyebrow... Now this could just be me and if it is I am sooooo Sorry! I hope I didn't upset you..... I absolutely can't wait to see what it will look like when your Finished... I love the little veins you placed on the cheeks and forehead.....

Oh I am so excited! My Molly kit is finished, I named her Margaret and I am so pleased with her. I hope you all will like her too! She and Thomas are in the completed artist showcase. Take a look if you'd like!
Here are a few pics of my hispanic girl I'm working on now. I'm rooting her so if nothing else happens or comes up I can finish her by the weekend. In plenty of time for my family reunion. Let me know what you think.....

Here is my little Sweetie Pie in progress. I am rooting his hair now. I'm using my angora goat hair from the hyde, dyed in a dark chestnut brown. I wasn't going to give him hair but I changed my mind. I'll post more of him when I get him done.
These pics were taken under a light and it's funny how all you have to do is move the light just a tiny bit and it totally changes the way your shot looks. So please excuse some of the pics, and I took them with my cell phone which seems to take better pics than my camera lol

Im done with the paint.... not with the glazing gel. grrr .... well now i have to do her eyebrows and im in panic because of that! Then I can start the rooting.
I am starting Rosie also. Did the internal wash ...hope to do veining and first blush tomorrow and see how it goes. Going to only do a few steps at a time, walk away and come back the next day so I can get a fresh perspective.
