I went to put in a really big order today from the secrist site here - i got all the way through to choosing a payment method only to then find we can't use paypal... and the funds i wanted to use are stuck in my paypal account.
It does allow for us to go to other secrist distributors and use paypal there (if they offer it). There is a distributor here in Australia, but even with the currency conversion and international postage from the US it's still cheaper for me to order from you in the US rather than the australian supplier.
So anyway, i just thought maybe i would post a suggestion for the main secrist site to consider adding paypal as a payment method??
Yes, I suggested that quite some time ago. I don't remember what they said (it's my 1 braincell I guess) but I do remember them saying there was some complication with it or the process of getting it.
I told them that they are missing the boat not having it. Lots of people prefer to do their payments through paypal.
If you are not a dealer and would like to order through me I do take paypal and ship internationally (just a suggestion). You can pm me if you like.
I sent "secrist orders" an email regarding paypal, they replied today as not open over the weekend. They said they do not plan to accept paypal in the future either.
But like I said, you can always order through me. Anything Secrist or Apple Valley carry on their site I can get for you being a dealer myself. :) You can even put all your stuff you want in "their" shopping cart and copy/paste it in an e-mail to me and I'll take care of it (don't forget to give me your paypal addy).
I would love to have you as "my" customer.
Here is a quote from the Secrist site on Paypal:
"How do I pay?Do you accept PayPal?
We accept all major credit cards. We do not accept PayPal.However, many of our distributors accept PayPal. "
What is "paypal" and how does it work? I don't have a credit card. I do have an excellent local distributor (the best!), however - but I just wanted to understand what "paypal" is?
paypal basically make it possible to pay for an item purchased through a place like ebay or small "companies." You set up an account with them and then when you want to make a purchase you log in and tell them where to send money! It can be connected to a credit card or even your checking account! It also gives you protection against fraud that you don't get with paying cash!
Here is the web addy for Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/ If you hand type in the addy, make sure you type https, the s is a security thing and if you don't put that, you may get the scam site. There are also scammers that will send you fake e-mails telling you all kinds of things to get your information. Paypal goes over all that on how to recognize spoofs and fraud stuff. It costs nothing to join and as Loves said, you can connect it to your credit card (if you have one), your bank account (I think both savings and checking), or you can do an e-check. It explains everything in the website.
They do have an insurance thing for your purchases too. Take a look.
Ooops, I forgot about this thread RME stands for Revolutionary Money Exchange. It is pretty much the same thing as Paypal but without the fees. They just started a few months ago and they had a deal where they gave out $25 dollars free to everyone who signed up. I started using it because some of the other people on Etsy are using it. (I really like Etsy.)
You can use Paypal to pay for your Secrist purchases, if you get the Paypal debit card. It works just like a Mastercard and comes straight out of your Paypal balance. Plus if you use it as credit, you get money back from Paypal for each use. Not a bad option.
I am a Secrist Dealer in the UK and would love for Secrist to accept PayPal. I have to go through a slow process of transferring from PayPal to my Natwest business account but then Secrist dont accept my Business account either so I then have to transfer from my Natwest to my Barclays personal account which they accept. I have to transfer it to my business account first as it has to go through my accounts and then I have to go all the way to my banks to take the cash out and then go to the other bank to put the cash in lol. So I would also love for them to accept paypal :)
Hey, If enough people ask they might start taking it! Maybe they don't take it due to the FEES! But from a Marketing stand point THEY ARE MISSING THE BOAT! I would much rather pay thru paypal where my information is safer. Furthermore, as I buy and sell online, I take paypal and would love to pay with paypal all from one account. It is easy and I don't have to worry if someone is stealing my information each time I buy something. Just my opinion, but they should take it. Many of their competitors do, and I shop them first.
I'm sure they have their reasons for not taking PayPal. Maybe the theory is that most people purchase through their dealers rather than direct.
I don't like paying fees either, but my business couldn't survive on the internet without offering PayPal as a payment alternative. I agree PayPal is advantageous from a marketing standpoint.
