Zona, Sorry sweetie, that's one thing that I've never tried... something else to add to my list of things to do. But, I believe that both Pat B. and Danielle have done that. They may have taken the weekend off but I'm sure someone will be around to help in the next day or two. Once you figure it out will you let me in on the secret? Have a good night and talk again soon, I'm sure!

Two problems I ran into doing this: 1. I needed to use the finest needle avail (probably a 42 guage, triangle 1 barb needle, not the German no barb). 2. I needed to heat the head (using the rice sock method), yes, heat it even though it's a Secrist.
I find that either the shape, the non-heated vinyl, the thicker needle, or something didn't really do a good job. Also, it was my first attempts at rooting brows. It takes practice and if your needle is too large, it can leave the dreaded "holes".
If someone doesn't adopt Hayden (yes, he's up for adoption) I may just do that boys brows again!
OH yes! One more thing... with rooted eyebrows you HAVE TO MAKE SURE that you know where you will put them as you can't take them off like paint if you don't like them!
Well ,.i never tryed rooting eyebrows on my babies,..i dont like the results that i have seen ( little wholes and no mohair) thats why i prefert to paint them on or draw them for me thats the most realistic baby eyebrow
Hi Zona I root all my babies eyebrows as i am hopless at painting them lol a few things i have learned apart from what buffington has already said is it is much easier if you use light mohair babies until you get the knack of doing them, dark hair babies show every fine detail in the brows so if you happen to root the wrong way it really shows! to get a good idea in which way to root the hairs study photos of real babies brows another trick if you yourself have bushy brows grab a brow brush and brush them upward it shows you the direction to root in (always rember babies have sparse brows not to bushy but barely there brows) the only other thing that bothers me about rooting brows is getting them to show in my photos but thats a photography problem on my part im hopless at photography hehehe hope this helps below are a couple pictures for you :)

See, I told you the ladies would come to your rescue! However, you ladies have scared me off rooting eyebrows for now. I think I'll stick with the paint/draw method. But thanks!

Thanks for the pictures. I think I need to go buy some cheap dolls at the store to practice on. My problem is How to see better to root. If I am holding the hohair over where I want to root, It doesn't always go where I want it to. If I have that same problem with eyebrows....in that area there is little room for error.
Tiny Earth angels, You have a wonderful site. Your babies are so pretty. I love the healing angels page and the little poem/saying you have at the bottom. I too am a kindberer.
Hi Zona a good way to practise is to use an old limb or a belly plate draw a curved line in pencil like a brow and practise with that until you feel your brows look ok, then buy your cheap doll at a store to see how it goes it can save you alot of money that way :) with your rooting needle i use a 40g 1 barb if you hold your needle under a light down near the bottom you can see what looks like a line that is the barb if you face that in the direction you want the hair to go and lay your mohair next to the spot (not on top of the spot) simply drag one hair over and push it in it can take practise, another idea is to hold a thin wisp of hair very thin (4 or 5 hairs) over the top and push the needle through in the direction you want, hope this helps xxxxx from one kindberer to another ((((((((big hugs)))))

You could also do like Stephanie Sullivan does: hold your mohair by the end between your thumb and first finger (like you are pinching it) and just drag a few hairs at a time with your needle over to where you want it.
tinyearthangels -- your babies are very beautiful, you've done a fantastic job on the painting, and i've never seen someone do such a job of rooting the eyebrows. Yours look so REAL and NATURAL you've inspired me to give it a try on my next baby.
I've just rooted eyebrows for the first time on my latest baby. They came out looking great... well in my bias opinion anyway. Thanks "tinyearthangels" for showing some beautiful babies with rooted eyebrows, it gave me the confidence to try myself.

you really thought my avatar was a real baby?? cool!! that is what i aspire to create afterall

I really wasn't quite sure when I looked at the arms (in your avatar) if it was a doll or not. But when I looked at the face (even though the pic is small) I really thought it was a baby. And I suppose too that it looked even more real because she looks just like my cousin when she was a baby. Exactly that smile and entire attitude! Good job!
using the pram as a "real situation" propt to photograph her in probably also added to the realism too.
I do so enjoy each and every one of my little creations though. Every day from the moment i wake around 8am till about 9pm or later at night i'm working on one baby or another. I literally have to be dragged out and away from my work... i even find myself speeding at times when out just to get home and back to my babies. I never get sick of it, and each baby i do is another joy.
