Ok, lets try this again. I had this all read#y with pics and everything and it goofed up so here goes again...
Here is what some of you have been waiting for... Pics of my granddaughter, who is now 10 days old.
May I present Mara Tess Magnus Collins (I hope she learns to write this well hahaha). Born April 7, 2011 @ 3:08 AM. Weight: 7 pounds 10 ounces, 20.5" long. Her weight dropped all the way down to 6# 12 oz but is now on her way back up. She is a beautiful little girl (if I do say so myself lol).
My daughter Dani was in labor for over 20+ hours. The last 6 hours of her labor, she stopped dilating so they decided to do a cesarean section. One of the nurses in the OR actually had to kneel on her to push the baby out through the incision as her head was really ingaged into her pelvis. So all in all everything turned out for the best and all are doing well.
Yes, I took/am taking a ton of pics. Her daddy won't let me come out with a sculpt of Mara until she's 2 yrs old. He doesn't care for my babies anyway but he's also supersticious. So, no Mara kits for 2 years reborners lol.
Thank you thank you Dee! Yes, it is amazing seeing her for the first time, hearing her cry, holding her... She is just awesome and I still can't believe my eyes, and that my first born had a baby who is my first grandchild!
Thank you everyone. She is a joy and a blessing. No June, she hated having her hair washed. She didn't much like any part of her bath lol The 3 pics of people holding Mara are: 1. Her mum 2. Her new auntie 3. Her grammy (me). lol
She has been really fussy these past 2 days not letting her mum and dad get much sleep. I try not to volunteer to calm her much as I don't want her getting used to it or to make it harder for them to find their own way with my guidance. Hard though when she's crying. And I leave on Friday to go back to Minnesota so they will have to try to do it themselves. They do pretty well for new parents though. :D
She is beautiful Pat, thank you for sharing such lovely pictures. What a special time this is for all of you. I love the dark haired babies, they always remind me of my oldest when he was born.

They say over here in Oz, to settle a baby wrap them up firm as they are used to being in the womb and if they aren't then they are a bit frightened. Maybe that might help, I know Macey had to be wrapped up tight even in summer, even now she has to have a blanket on when she lays on my lap to go to sleep. I guess she has to be like a homeless person and smelly. LOL. XXXXX June.
Thats funny June. They do wrap (swaddle) her up just like they did at the hospital. They even have little sacks that don't have arms, just 2 sides that wrap around her.
I am going to be posting "parts" of my granddaughter for examples for us to study on painting our babies soon. But here are a few more pics of little Mara Tess...
Congratulatios Grandma !!!! What beautiful pictures! The first set of pictures the mom and auntie are real nice pictures . Your picture came out great too! What a nice feeling to hold your grandchild for the first time. Oh I just love all the hair I love to see a baby with hair. So glad mother and baby are doing well. Have a good trip back home.
I realy love the 4th pic and she has a beautiful head of hair. What a lovely Mothers Day Gift. Well it is Mothers Day here today, is over there as well? XXXXX June.
Thanks Dee. Yes, I like that one too! Actually I like all of them hahaha. Linda, Thanks, I wish I could have taken more pics of her and mommie. She was an absolute joy when I was there. Although Dani had issues with trying to learn how to breastfeed. Baby has been having issues too. Some stomach or intestinal thing. And she screams! Now at 4 weeks old she screams at night, sometimes for 2 hours. They just don't know what to do. She's on 2 meds but they don't seem to help much. I told her to demand that they check her out for some kind of GI issue. June, I love babies with lots of hair too. Dani said I shouldn't kiss her so much cause I'd kiss off all her hair hahaha. Yes, today is Mother's Day here to hun, so HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to everyone! I opted to work today since the others wanted off. My hubby is retired now so we can celebrate any time. And besides, here the resturants are all packed with lines of people waiting to eat. And Amanda is in the hospital at the moment so I don't feel much like celebrating. I'll explain in misc chatter.
Congratulations Pat! She absolutely beautiful =) enjoy her as much as possible grandbabies seems to grow up alot faster then out own babies did, hard to believe my grandson is almost 1 1/2...time flew by so fast.
Hmmm... 2 Tina's! Well thank you both. I think she is the most beautiful grandbaby I've ever had (hehehe, she is my only one). hehehe I will be posting more pics of her little baby parts as soon as I can in the artist showcase, where all the pics go. :D HGUS
Well of course I have some new grandbaby pics as she is getting older. She is 2 months old now (OMG! so hard to belive!). And she was in the NICU in the hospital for over a week with RSV, some kind of respiratory virus. She was even on oxygen. They sent her home with a portable oxygen unit even. My daughter Dani took her in to the pediatrician and they said she didn't need the oxygen now. WOOHOO!
Awww Pat she is absolutely gorgeous!!! Thank God she is doing better, I hope she continues to do well. There was definately something going on over here with the respiratory stuff. My kids were sick and I ended up on a nebulizer for several days.
I love looking at your grandbaby's pics She is soo beautiful!! God Bless!
Baby Mara Tess is doing a lot better. Dani een took her to the Colorado Ren Fest for a while. Dani is definately learning at 35 what it means to be a mommie. She still is unsure of herself but with Mara being off the oxygen there is more room for play and stuff. They are temporarily living with a friend of hers and the friend loves haing them there and is trying to give Dani a sense of security with Mara.
Thanks everyone. It's also hard for me to believe that baby is already 2 months old, and almost 10 pounds. Especially since we're so far away, but at least I get weekly pics and updates. The baby's daddy is gone on the weekends so Dani has some difficulty with (as she puts it) a "single parent" till he comes back Sunday night but I told her to do her best.
She is so precious, just beautiful. Congratulations! I love all the pictures and I'm so glad she is okay and over her illness. I just wish they would let would let you do a sculpt of her! Enjoy every minute you get with her. Dianne
Thank you so much! I'm glad she is ok too. She still has a few issues like baby reflux but she is on meds. Dianne, I will be sculpting a kit of her but I can't let any pics out until she is 2 since baby's daddy said not until then. I am compelled to ablige her daddy as he lost his first born son only 3 weeks after birth. It's been 6 years and he's still not right because of it. So, it probably will take me 2 years to sculpt her anyway lol.
Thanks Carol. I am too. Abby, you'll have to take lots of pics of the new little one (hands, fingers, eyelids, feet, etc) so that we have actual pics to use to make our reborns. I didn't get as many of my grandbaby as I wanted but got some good ones. Do you know if you're have a boy or girl?
Pat I will definitley be taking lots of pics for you girls to work with..I'm getting so impatient now! I just want to see my liitle boy (and my feet again!!)
When I get my desktop put back together on the desk (instead of the floor lol) I'll post pics of all baby Mara's parts for you gals. I would have had it done a month ago but my obgyn was supposed to do a hystorectomy and only ended up doing a d&c and sent me home. So then July 1 I just underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy inclucing the ovaries and tubes. I guess I was all messed up inside with lots of things... but thank God, no cancer which is what they were suspecting. So still recoveing from that, no lifting over 5-10 lbs, no stairs, lots of no-nos! Last 2 days I've had searing pain on the left of my incision... dr says its a muscle thing. Today it's the right :( but I'm hangin in there and behaving :)
Can't wait to see pics of your new real baby hun, keep us posted :D
Thats cool, my son was born a month early, I slipped on some stairs after my father in laws funeral, my brother in law caught me two days later my water broke they had to induce labor then came my pride and joy Terry Jr. we called him Pooh it stuck, still to this day he's Pooh to the family, he does'nt mind.
Ouch Dee! Ya, some days are ok, some not. Get tired easily. So I'm trying to be good till Aug 1 when I go back to work. It's at the jewelry store so it's not much strenuous except for lifting diamonds hahaha. Its just this searing pain that worries me, and puts me in tears. But the dr says its either the muscles rubbing on the internal stitches or it's adheasions getting pulled apart (that's a good thing, don't want adheasions). But they only have me schedualed for 5 hours on 1 day that week to start. lol I just hate this sitting around but know its for the best, just up enough to keep the blood flowing and blood clots out! I had a C section with my youngest
Wow, Dee!! My son's name is TJ, and he was born at least 3 weeks early. My water broke while I was washing dishes that day. And *my* family nickname is Pooh as well. How funny is all that!? LOL
Pat, hang in there. I've been having some health issues myself. Was just diagnosed with high blood pressure, and am now on Atenolol. Got back on my thyroid meds, so that's a really good thing.
I got very badly sunburned a couple of weeks ago, and I am convinced I had sun poisoning. I had a headache for over a week, then I started having heart palpitations. I drank 4 liters of pedialyte in 2 days trying to get electrolytes in my system, but it only helped a little.
I've been dealing with my insurance company, who unbeknownst to me, dropped me back in May. No notice, no nothing. Deductions simply stopped being taken out of my checks, therefore, no coverage. I didn't find this out until I was AT the dr's office for my appointment, which I missed. I've gone round and round with them, and bottom line is this....unless I pay the past 45 days in back pay (the latest gap in coverage) I will not have insurance, UNTIL it comes out of my paychecks again, which should be next week.
So I had to go to a self pay clinic, which incidentally was VERY nice, as they are a spa as well. They offered me and my sister who came along for moral support for me a free microdermabrasion session, insisting we'd be back for more. I also have rosacea, which he noticed (which was NOT was I was going in for at all) and gave me a scrip for doxycycline to help with it.
Sorry for the ramble, I've been wanting to tell you all that for days, I've just felt like CRAP.
You are indeed going through a lot hun. HUGS! I am sending you healing vibes and thoughts hun. I hope you feel better soon and hope your insurance issues get worked out very soon. They can be a real pain in the tushy. Have you asked them for an explanation of why you were dropped and the payments stopped being taken out of your pay? I would go to the HR person and insurance person at you work, maybe it is a screw-up on their end and they would have to get you reinstated. I really dislike bureauocracy!
Yes I've talked to both my insurance and HR. All anyone knows is that it was an "error". It's supposed to be fixed by this next check, but I'm waiting to see. I will be calling and raising hell if it's not.
Ok, but make sure they go back "retroactively" to cover anything that is being disputed. As long as "they admit" that it was an "error" then they ultimately are responsible! We had stuff like that going on at school and it was crazy. Talk to this one, talk to that one, back to this one. Yep, enough to make anyone pull out all their hair! I am praying that it all gets resolved with your next check hun. Keep us posted. And "give em' h*ll harry!" hehehe
Luckily, (or unluckily, depending on your outlook) there are no disputes. I didn't see a doc for the entire uncovered time, and only discovered the error DURING my heart palpitations and sun poisoning. Hence the clinic visit. So no claims, but you bet your butt I'm following up with my regular doc once insurance kicks in. Gah. I'm just glad to be feeling better.
I'm glad you fee better too! When I took my daughter in to the clinic they had her on "self pay" and we've never had that before. So like you, that is when I found out that they cancelled her off our insurance. We still did the dr visit so when we got the bill, I called the clinic and told them to resubmit the bill to the ins co. Luckily they did and the ins co (who did the goof up) had to pony up their payment. Sometimes a person just has to keep either ahead of the game, or know the alternate rules!
