Hi to everyone! There has been gone a lot of time sinse I was here last time.
Couple weeks ago I got my babies from custom reborn and I'm very disapointed. Could you see my poor girls? What do you think about them? What should I do now?
And I can see a lot of reborn artist mistakes on the photos.
Photos 1 and 2 - Skin is red, dolls heads are strongly heavy, thats why they are thrown back, and the seam on a body is torn because of it
Photos 3 and 4 - The eyelids painting is awful and not accurate, a paint on cheeks climbs
Photos 5, 6, 7 - Eyes are inserted awfully, huge backlashes form cracks from which glue is visible. Both eyes are inserted incorrectly - ones are tired out under top, others - under a lower eyelid.
Photos 6, 9, 10 and 11 All the eyelashes are in glue. On one eye the eyelashes are glued to the eye (for some reason, probably)
Photos 12 and 13 - Colouring is very rough, lot of paint is pleated in skin folds
Photos 12, 13 and 14 - Manicure on hands is not accurate and climbs. Red and yellow paint (stains) are on fingers and hands.
Photos 15 and 16 - Colouring and manicure on feet and legs are awful
On other photos we simply compare tone of a skin to a hand of the person and with the handle of other reborn doll
Tina, I've already written her and she thinks that I'm not a professional and that her work is very good and girls are wonderful. How do you see them? Are they look good? What is your opinion?
I think they're alright. I see some issues, and bottom line is, if you're not happy with the work that was done, ask for your money back. You shouldn't have to pay for something that isn't up to your expectations.
Sorry you're going thru all this, but it's good to see you back!!
My opinion really doesn't matter it's what you think thats important. Did you look at some of her other work before you placed a custom order with her? That's really important as each artist has thier own style and technique. I personally am not fond of the sculpts but thats JMHO and i don't care for the rooting. I do see a few other coloring issues but I use a different technique and strive for a different look so what I think and what others do will be totally different. Your satisfaction is all that matter.
Valentina, Tina is right IMHO, that if you're not happy with her work that there should be something that you can do, especially if you have already contacted the seller.
I always try to have people look closely at my work before ordering a baby from me. And everyones view is their opinion and it depends on what they like or don't like. And unless you see their work in person, it can vary because cameras and computer screens are not the same for everyone. I have taken many pictures of the same baby and they all come out looking different. Some look shiny when I know the baby isn't shiny, or darker skintone, or redder looking than the baby is. And personally... I think there are a lot of newborners who have their babies wayyyyyy too red for my taste (IMHO). Or they mix in a brown tone of paint in the red for blush and the babies now have too red of blush but have brown dots in them. I don't care personally for those babies. And if some learn reborning only from books or DVD's and have never seen a "good" or "realistic" reborn then they also judge their work from that. KWIM?
And some people have issues looking at what someone else would call flaws or not being painted right. I think that part of that is that no one wants to tell people if their babies don't look good. I have seen people comment on how someones baby looks really nice when it has big dark bushy eyebrows. Well, to me that's not right. But no one wants to hurt anyone elses feelings so they never tell them it looks... not too good, so they think it's great when it's not.
I'm not siding with anyone here but maybe no one ever told her that they didn't care for her babies, so maybe she doesn't know. I am hoping if I ever make a baby and someone doesn't like how it looks or it's not good, that they tell me nicely. That way I can either choose to keep it or make changes to it. I have been told by Mr Secrist himself that my early babies are too light complected. I had 2 others that he said looked sunburned (and as a businessman he is oftentimes brutal with his comments). Well, I was honest with myself and changed the "sunburned" ones and they look nice now. He even said so. But its still all subjective. I know I wouldn't want anyone to be unhappy with my babies, nor would I want them to ask for their money back if they didn't like the way I painted them. I do my best but I also have been trained as a certified teacher. Anyway, in getting to the point hun, do what you feel you have to do. If they are damaged, then I would make a point of telling her that, or talk to ebay or paypal and explain the damages (eyes, etc). As far as the coloring, you are a reborner... you can change it if you like. There was a video on Colliii about this and still, all the comments were subjective, just their opinions.
I will always replace or repair a baby if a customer gets it and its damaged. If you need to, just go from the damage standpoint. I really don't think you can make a good case out of the coloring hun, sorry. But the damages, definately. I hope this helps you out with this, I know I was a little long in explaining. Let us know what you find out please. BOL
I'm with Pat, if your not happy then ask for a refund. The eye is in the beholder. We all see things differently. You must realise, that you are the one paying for this, and if it isn't up to the standard of your perfection or expectations, be your own judge, as you have and done it nicely into the bargain... XXXXXX June.
