I just purchased this doll from Hobby Lobby. I want to use it as a cake topper. If I use the paint for eyebrows, will that give me a nice brown complextion? Also, it says to put the dolls in the oven, however this doll is plasitic. So I skip that step, right? Please help.....
In order for me to answer your questions, first let me ask you some questions (I have to ask as I don't have a Hobby Lobby near me):
Is the doll kit you purchased a "Secrist dolls" kit (manufactured by Secrist dolls, American Doll Design, or Authentic Reborn, etc) or who makes it please?
Does it use Genesis Heat Set paints? I am presuming so since you said it tells you to "put the dolls in the oven". If they are Genesis (or any type of heat-set paint you MUST follow the directions since the paints are not permanent/won't cure if you don't).
How do you know the doll is plastic not vinyl?
If you use the eyebrow paint to paint the doll, it will give you whatever color of complexion the paint is. It also depends on the techniques you use to paint it.
If you can get back to the forum with the answers to these questions, we should be able to help you straight away. :)
Welcome to our Forum.. a great place to get advice and help. I can help you with this because I have a Hobby Lobby where I live. And they are selling the Secrist kits both the 6" Peaches and the the 17" Zoe kits. So I can answer your question(s).
1. The 6" Peaches doll Kit is NOT Plastic It's Vinyl. ( Myself have boughten the 6" Peaches kit I have 5 of them.)
2. You should be following the instructions that it gives you for the "put the dolls in the oven". If you don't put the doll in the oven to be "baked" The paint you put on will not be permanent. You would have wasted your time and will have to do it again if you don't.
3. The paints that come with the kit(s) are Gensis heat set paints. and again should be following the directions due to the paint is not permanent.
The eyebrow paint should give you the complexation your looking for.
Pat B. I have a hobby lobby's store. And It's how I got hooked on reborning! lol So I know they do have Secrist stuff. They even carry the clay to sculpt your own heads ect.

I wish I had a Hobby Lobby store near me =( I have a hard time getting even the simplest of supplies like poly pellets! I have to order them online because out local michael's craft store stopped selling it!! Imagine that a craft store no less!
I get Joann's flyer and so I get the coupons for Joann's and Hob lob which for them I get the email flyer and then I just print off the coupons. I love looking for the deals! Ya'Know!

the Michaels near my home stopped carrying the poly pellets so then Joanne's picked them up. They were over $1-$2 cheaper at Joann's. They keep them up on a top shelf so you have to know what you are asking for and where they keep them so you can tell the clerk. Otherwise they're just lost. :o
Here I think you can get a flyer in the mail if or now they're doing it by e-mail too. I had to go in and sign up again as I hadn't gotten anything in a long time and I don't get the newspaper here at home. (My husband won't get it because of what our local paper said about the military that fought in the VietNam war. He just won't forgive them, so, no paper). Gotta count on mail flyers and e-mail.
I know Joann's is really bad about being lost when you tell them what your looking for. Or ask them if they have it... I get mail and email and I am greatful to get them to see what I can get for less money!

I have something like 7 super center Wal-marts and one regular old Wal-mart within 5 miles of my house, and they are not all alike. Joann's was closed at the time I was looking for some sewing supplies so I want to Wal-mart--several of them. I was surprised to find out that the sewing department is missing in most of them. Just wondering... in which department do you think the poly pellets would be located?

I don't know in that case. Mine used to have a craft/sewing section and that's where the pellets and the fluff used to be. They basically made my wallies into a grocery and stuff store. Then they had nerve enough to put in a Subway. They could have at least left the shoe department :
Hi:) its my first time on the forum so correct me if I'm wrong I have the peaches kit and have already applied the paint and I have no clue how long to bake him and at what temperature I need help and fast
If you are using Heat-set paints, that would be 8 minutes at 265 degrees ferenheit. If you do an internal perwinkle wash then that wash alone would be same temp but for 10 minutes instead.
You can post pics of your baby in the artist showcase. Otherwise links in the other topic threads. And... welcome to our family forum!
