She just arrived today...bad thing first of all BB 2009 in long form is stamped across the bottom of the back of her head...(this just cheeses me)...but there is a good other things, her earlubs are thin enough to pierce....

But alas...I've waited much much to long for a new kit to be delivered...I have no interest in starting to reborn any her now.."The Thrill Is Gone"

I'm starring at her adorable little crying face now,in an effort to motivate the passion...

Honestly this was not the first kit I wanted to reborn after such a long long delay since my 6th reborn...I want to reborn Estelle and then Holly

I may just request a refund and not buy any kits from any store/company that stamps their company or store in this manner...it's like buying canvas with the company logo in large letters stampe name in the center...

Kits like these are really not fully useable..maybe as a PlayDoll selling the finished baby cheaper as a childs playtoy..not as a collectable piece.
Suppose I didn't want to add hair to the baby?

I think we all need to contact the company and them that these are not acceptable for our art...either they stop and change and if they have to stamp their company name..do so on the bottom  part that goes inside the cloth body(the hidden part of the head piece)or we will no longer buy their kits..I will not cope with this. This was poor judgement on the company's part..my other BB kits did not have this.

Ofcoarse the other recourse is to file the stamped name down and hope it does not leave a noticable mark.

Kits stamped like this are no longer reborn artist kits..but toy kits...trying to sand or file the embossed company stamp may ruin the kit...their only mistake here was by especially placing the company stamp in any part of the dolls working area...working surface

I bought this kit from a BB's rep(Beautiful Baby's)

Only the Reborn Artist community can get them to correct this mistake

I agree with you, I just took Kensey out of my paket that I had it stored in and the same thing, I didn't take pic before I started to use the Dremel on it, but it has taken most of the deep writing off so will sand it with a smooth piece of sand paper and see how that goes. then I will take pic and post. XXXXX June.

It's not tough enough work just being a good reborn artist, now you gotta be good at body-shop work as well

Why do they do that? They could have stamped there name on the base.
I just looked at my Kameko kit from BB it is stamped like that but smaller and lower I think the black hair I'm gonna use will cover it up. They should know better.

Thats a shame, I haven't ordered a kit from them in awhile, is this something new going on there? I don't remember having that problem with them before. But like June I still think sanding is the best option for removal.

Sorry for starting this angry wave about BB kits at least it only happens with their new kits...
I've had an overnight to dwell on this and there are a few points to buying from BB

...first and foremost the kits are cheap in prices compared to other kits in which you are often paying $65 and up,

secondly the vinyl they use is generally very soft especially the heads which makes it easy to micro-root,

thirdly they ship very quickly and do not over-charge for shipping,

fourthly if any parts are bad they will quickly send you a replacement at their expense and just as quickly

...the caution we must take before ordering anything new from them is to simply email them for a picture of the back the new kits head..asking them where they had stamped their name.

Maybe when putting layer upon layer of paint...dab a bit extra paint to fill in the stamped letters and numbers...they are not that deep and I believe if we don't use very light hair this stamp will not show very well at all if at all....
Sure before painting sand if lightly,I noticed that the vinyl is rather thick in the place the stamped marking is.

I'm trying to motivate myself to go ahead and just paint this Puddin kit today or this evening...I just love it's ears for the lobbs are rather thin towards the bottom..you know what that may lead to...

This is Kensey from BB, after I used the drermel on him with the sand stone and the the sand paoper.  Also used a glass nail file and a nail buffer. It isn't too bad, could do with a bit more sanding, but I have been busy cleaning up a junk room to do reborning with the mother and daugher tomorrow.  It was too hard to get rid of the deep writing, just needs smoothing now and I think that is where the presure mark will be when I start to reborn Him/Her.    XXXXX      June.

I myself won't take the chance of sanding it...I'll just use many layers of paints to fill in and cover up the stamping marks...the scratches maybe seen if I rooted with light coloured hair

Noy ifyou use a really fine sandpaper for your final sanding. I've done it before and use light mohair for baby and you really can't see a thing. Once you paint any light marks that you might have left behind are completely covered.
Junes is a perfect example =)

I don't think I've ever seen the stampings so big on kits before. I saw one somewhere else in forum and it was high on the back/side of the head and would never been hidden by hair. it was really bad.
All/most doll makers stamp their dolls, have for eons, but not like this. Usually it's a small stamp at the nape of the neck down low.

If I had that happen to a kit I bought, I'd first notify the seller that I was not happy at all. That I thought this was poorly done. I would also see if I could find a way to contact the sculptor and let them know too. Then if it was a kit I just couldn't live without, I'd probably use liquid sculpy to fill in the area and bake it.

I just don't understand it, someone isn't seeing something on this. Or maybe they have a new manufacturer and they don't care? I don't know the answer.

I tried but somehow I just can't motivate myself to start this kit...I don't think I can do the inside of the mouth..the tongue is a different shade of pink as well as the gums a different shade of pink and top and bottom of roof of its mouth another shade of pink...

I'm now realising this kit is not one but three kicks in my shins..I never done a closed eyed baby before that's one kick,I've never done an open mouth baby before that's two kicks and I've never done a crying baby before that three kicks...

confuse   the toughies are the ones that realy help you grow as an artist , the 3 different shades in the mouth shouldn't be to big a problem as a babys mouth is not all one color. when i'm haveing trouble bonding with a kit i put it in my carry basket and set it up (outfit, blankie) as if it was done and sort of take it around the house, yard with me kinda like you would a real one. at least for me it helps me see all the possiblitys of the kit cos i'm seeing it in different settings /lighting. maybe that would help jump start you.                               sage  aww

I think you'll do just fine. Sleeping babies are a breeze...my hats go off to the open eye babies and those blasted eyelashes =( I still haven't mastered them! Like Sage said doing something different helps you grow, learn and master without the challenge the art would get rather boring don't you think? I for one have faith in your abilities to create a lovely baby from this kit. I say go for it...and remember we're here to help if you run into a jam =)

I am sorry you're having problems bonding with your Puddin. From what I've heard from the others on this board, everyone has a problem child. LOL.

But definitely work on this one. Judging from your past work, Puddin will be a beautiful baby when it's done!!

Steve, My son was very young when his G/friend got prenant, he said, I don't think I can love a baby, I said, It is just natural, as soon as you see it, you will love it, then she gets pregnant ashort tinme after that birth, he comes to me again and say's, Mum I don't hink I can love another baby as much as I love Zaylee, once again I said, You will fall in love with it as soon as it is born, he has since had a third and has bonded and loves them all. It doesn't matter to a mother if her baby isn't beautiful, because she thinks her baby is the most beautiful and cutest there is. I'm sure you are just worrying a bit too much, closed eyed babies are a breeze and I will post in Artist show case a picture of the start of the two kits the mother and 9.5 yr old daughter started yesterday, The young girls is Kara, with an open mouth. XXXXX June.

It went great, for a little 9.5 yr old girl she did an excellent bit of work, we have done the shading the motteling the toe/ finger nails lips, some red mottling and a bit of blush, I was amazed at how she coped with it, also her mum, they both have a naturel talent. Will Post pics when we down load off camera. We have birthday photo's on it to today at daycare, also yesterday at the market there was a new baby about 6 weeks old took some close ups of the veins I hope they turned out . XXXXXX June.
