My cousin, his English friend for many years(he and I never quite had hit-it-off years before),and me went to Our Lady of Pompeii Church in Chicago(Italian church if you may),my cousin had told me it would be interesting to bring a couple of my reborn babies to show his friend Adrian and the older Italian woman after mass in the churches coffee shop,so I took all 5 of them in...there were not many people there in the coffee shop as there were in church.
I unwrapped them from their blankets and began to set them up on a table,I heard gasping and oh my God aren;t they beautiful..then everybody in coffee shop was gathered around the 5 babies holding and cuddling my babies, asking all types of questions,a couple of the ladies got misty when holding them, said to me they brought back such sweet memories,it was catching,100's of pictures were takened..and a couple numbers were exchanged.
Adrian my cousin's friend(we did'nt quite hit it off before) never seen them before was tooken aback,he just adored my Angelina and Sophia...and we are good friends since then... My cousin commented and said next week if you still have them..when we go to Sunday mass,we'll have it announced in church after mass that we have a truly amazing doll artist here and you will surely want to see his beautiful reborn babies in the coffee shop that he has brought with him...this will be set up for next week(by God's willing hands)
But the most biggest surprise was all the men there were totally amazed at this art work and that they thought the reborn babies looked so so real and beautiful..they even held them, the way daddies hold little babies.
I was thinking to myself(Oh poop I don't even have business cards to hand out) 2 of them said I can not believe you did all 5 of these babies in only 4 months..one musican told me any hollywood studio would love to own or use these babies that is if they were for sale or that you'd permit them to use them...When I started to tell the guys there that if business did not start to pick up..I've seriously thought about giving this art up..No no no you can't be seriously you have a wonderful gift from God that brings joy to others eyes and heart,Adrian said..the musician and the Deacon said...give up? not with that special talent you have..
No I did not get a big-head..just a ton more pride in my work...final note everybody thought that my best babies were Sophia and Angelina...and next the way Violetta looks when held her in your arms...The young girls loved my Angelo
Hell yes I'm happy!!!!

Sounds wonderful ! I love it when people take their babies out so people can see them. Come back and share their wonderful stories with us. Like in your coffee shop people really enjoy seeing them too! And it doesn't hurt to advertise that way either. HA! HA! Keep up the good work. Have any pictures of your dolls? Linda
That is really great Sam. I know it really amazes people when someone is doing something "non-traditional". Like me being an aircraft mechanic being a woman and all. Like the guys at your church... just stunned at first.
We all have talents and shouldn't be bound by earthly limitations and someones idea of what we should and shouldn't be doing with them.
Congratulations on pulling your babies and your talent into the fold :)
Thank you so much..I have a ton more pride in my work...I'm proud enough to even point out what I believe needs additional detailing or are slight errors in my work to all those I show them to.

Good for you, I took my babies to a meeting I had at my church, everyone was saying that they look so real and saying I should sale them, I told them I would love to sale them but no one offered to buy one, but my Pastor told me to bring them to church on a sunday so that everyone could see them I said I don't want to look crazy, he said I have your back and you never know someone may need to cuddle, almost every sunday someone ask have I made any more, I wish they would stop asking and start buying LOL.
So happy everyone recognized and admired your dollmaking talent. You never know if, when, how it could lead to sales, more recognition, etc. Kind of exciting to anticipate, isn't it?
