Janey Anne is my 6th reborn
Permalink

I just can't understand it,I thought that I'd be getting better and better with each kit I do,but that's surely not the case with me....my 2nd kit the only bald-headed reborn baby I created..seems to be my best work...I suppose it's my mind-set?

...the passion comes and goes....I run this rooming/sleeping room house and all is cramped and it's a really pain dealing with singles living here...my environment?

I just can't figure it out...I love this art form somedays and am troubled by it on other days...I have ton's and ton's of patience....I don't like any of the instruction dvd I bought, they don't do it for me,I used slightly different methods for each baby

I figure maybe,I have to do 30+, 50+ or even 100+ reborn kits to start to really be happy with my work..to show a professionalism in my work,a uniqueness like a lot of you great artist here.

Well here is my latest baby, "Janey Anne"

Hey, now! I really like this one! I think her coloring is good, and I love the sparse light hair. And that little lavender dress is adorable on her!

Thank you,I actually ran out of hair...can't afford to buy the good mohair(Dawn Marie) now,so that's all the hair I could give her...you don't think I over did the mottling and blushing on her face?

I think her coloring if fine, the only thing I see is the eyelashes should be down, put your glue under the little lid close to the eyeball  place lashes push under a bit, be careful not to get glue on the eyeball. This is just my opinion.

I see what you mean..my problem is with the glue not holding right..I've wasted a lot of sets of eyelashes because of false claims about eyelash glue..for me most of it doesn't work...and ofcoarse my eyes at 59 years old are not that good any more..just the love of the art burns bright

I don't think she's got too much blushing from what I see in the photo.   I agree with Dee about the lashes.

You are right on the mark when you say you use different methods on each baby doll.   The DVDs, in my opinion, are very useful to demonstrate how to use the paints, and to show a basic technique.  When I teach people how to make the dolls, I try to tell them how they could change things up from the "official" DVD instructions.  I like to encourage people to experiment with various tools or household implements to achieve the look they want.

I understand what you mean when you mention the eyesight.  One of the things that bug me these days is too little contrast on printed materials to point I can't read whatever it is.  I would be lost without my OTT-LITE and my store bought reading glasses.

At any rate, your Janey Anne is a cutie and needs many more siblings so please keep practicing your art.

Linda

I think her coloring is just fine. I don't tihnk she has been over blushed at all. I do agree with Linda and Dee about her eye lashes. They for me are a tough one. I've done a few babies without them even and they came out just fine. I also tried setting them in with just a bit of glue just to tack the lashes in place then use liquid tears (paper glaze) over the entire eye giving them a glassy wet look and securing the lashes as well.
