Liselle, I was a member of facebook, but like some forums, it creartes bad blood so, I have taken myself off, so have my family. 1 comment can cut through your heart so deep it is not worth it, not only that, other people can get you details and take over identities. Well that is what has been said on the news here n Australia. The only member of my family that has stayed on, is only because she has a deaf and dumb friend and it is a good way for her to keep in contact with her. This is True, June. PPL forget that they are in cyberspace, myself included. Things tend to get posted that might not even be spoken just because it's quick.

But for the most part, it's a useful tool to keep in touch with people you might not be able to otherwise.

I confess, I am on Facebook, and I spend entirely too much time there.

It is possible to adjust security settings to restrict the amount of information people can see. FB also has custom settings that allow people to restrict or allow persons or groups of people to access some, all, or part of your information. For instance, started out loving a specific game that required lots of friends to advance. I ended up accepting friend invitations from people I did not know. To ease security worries, I put them in a group, and restricted access to most information until I got to know some of them. When I became friends with some of them, I took them out of that group and added them to another group that is not restricted from seeing photos, etc.

As far as the comments go, I just try to keep in mind that some people are just mean and some aren't even aware of the effect their comments have on others. I try not to take it too seriously. When you can't hear the person's voice or see body language, some comments are misinterpreted anyway. If it becomes a huge problem, I can always delete them as a friend.

I originally got on FB because I had asked my children, my siblings and their children for photos for an album I was making for our aunt and uncle's golden wedding anniversary. I got almost zero cooperation and excuse after excuse that they didn't have photos. I think what they meant was that they didn't have time to print photos and mail them from their digital cameras. I was disappointed until one day when one of my daughters came over to use my computer. She logged into her FB account while I looked over her shoulder. Imagine my surprise when she began looking at photos of her cousins. I found out that Facebook is the family photo repository, and I LOVE looking at all the photos, catching up with what's going on, etc.

I have also "liked" a ton of doll groups, and even created a page for my Play Days Dolls & Collectibles. I haven't done much with it yet, but I have high hopes. As far as comments go, I usually "like" photos of dolls that other artists have done vs. actually writing anything. Mainly, I love looking at their work and could spend hours clicking through doll photos.

I would love to connect, Liselle. Please understand, however, that I do play some games, and some of them require postings in order to interact with other players. Some people hate seeing the postings. The way to solve the problem is to click out to the right of the posting and it will give you the opportunity to hide me or to hide the game. Of course you would choose to hide whatever game you don't want to see.

I am a private person too, But I am not afraid of being on fb One thing you can do to try and prevent that is making all your details private. I think the only thing a non friend can see on my profile is my daily wall and that's it. of course my place of living but thats a choice too. I have whole family and friends on fb and if I don't keep up with them I lose all connections wiht them since we are all over the U.S. Not to many ppl can find much on me other than my reborns, and of course my crazy family... Not much left.

Facebook.....hummm I'm on facebook and myspace. I use my myspace to listen to music I haven't downloaded while I work on the computer. I also like that I can be creative with the layouts when I'm bored. Facebook? I used to be on it everyday. Most of my family members are on it too. It's great because we talk several times a day when I'm on (they are all over the US) but it does have it's drawbacks. It tends to release too much personal info and anyone can hound you to be a friend. There are also the nonscense games that my fam keeps asking me to join (although I did enjoy farmville for awhile hehe). Also when commenting on others statuses or comments they often don't like the true opinions or comments left by others. I've had miy religious beliefs made fun of and confronted the friends and fam for it. It was cleared up and they learned some truth behind it but, if one is not crafty in their use of words feelings do get hurt. A month ago I went in though and took out all my personal info that could really identify me and my children. One of my good friends had his hacked into and I received one of those hoaxy emails saying he was in another country in trouble and needed me to send 2K asap. Well the language in the mail didn't sound like him for one, secondly I called his wife and asked her how he was doing. She told me he was fine and I expalined why I asked and she told me the story. So those things can be good but it can also be a bad thing as with anything else. Recently I use it to keep an eye on my daughter when she is away for college and summer work. So....that's my two cents. Oh yeah, and some reborn artists are using Facebook as a way to give more exposure to their dolls. Just a heads up.

i've considered useing facebook for that cos i'm not a good enough artist to waste money on a web site yet.but all the horror stories put me off so i keep putting it off. sage aww

I use it Frequently and really like it. It's a good way to keep up with some ppl I might not otherwise be able to keep in touch with. I don't have my parents on there, though, or my daughter that lives with her dad....too much stuff is way too easy to misconstrue.

Most of my info is blocked for only friends. Ppl can find me but not get any info that's not already public. And with the new settings, it makes it better cause you can fine tune your security.

I have a reborner friend that has connected with me on there.

I have a facebook profile, too. For me it is a possibility to show photos of my family to my friends in Spane, UK, US, Canada and Brasil. I also have a profile in Russian like facebook site. I think I have opened for all person profilein Fb. So you can find me there.

My daughter purchased a new hard drive and installed it in my computer when she was here last week. However... she also put a new operating system on it--Win 7. I used to have XP. Win 7 is fine, but the hassle of trying to recover files, find new drivers, reconfigure the printer so it's networked, and update software is so time-consuming. Don't get me wrong--I'm grateful, but anxious to get something done that doesn't involve my computer.... like getting back to making dolls.

I'm almost finished--just a little more to go--but recovering files is like watching paint dry. It is so boring, I fall asleep. When that happens, it takes more time because I have to remember what I was doing.

Now I've lost my train of thought. I was going to say something else about Facebook, but the thought has vanished. Maybe I should just trying playing a Facebook game while I try to remember. LOL.

I know very well what is involved in recovering and transfering files. :o It's not very fun, can be extremely boring, you're right. And then there is re-installing alllll your programs! I had a computer that lost it's internal power supply and took the mother board with it. I was 1 1/2 years trying to get my stuff out of it and to re-install on the new one. I don't wish that on anyone! YIKES!

Valentina, I think that is good that you put your babies on your FB. You are right... it helps to show other friends and family each other and also your babies. Are you under Solymar or Valentina (if I may ask)?

I think it would be nice for some of us to fb each other. But not with all the questions like we do on forum. It would be just nice to network and see each others babies I think.

ok i finaly made a fACEBOOK under my nursery name , all i have on it are pics of my babies no personal info. don't know what good it'll do but if someone wants to see my babies i can send them there. sage aww

I have a fb page for my jewelry, maybe I need one for my babies. Although if I have too much going on, something gets behind lol
