Looks like you have your work cut out for you in moving things out LOL! It's going to be a great work area though from what I can see. There seems to be plenty of natural lighting. I'd set a table up as close to those windows as I could and that's where I would paint. Looks like theres a nice desk that will make a great work area. Can't wait to see the finished pixs!

the bedroom looks like the lesser of 2 evils.............lol plus people tend to look at you a little strange when they come over and see all the body parts......lol.....like tina said that window area would be such a great spot........i'll wrestle you for it.....hehe sage
Well, as of this morning, and almost EVERY morning, I'm very very tempted to make that room a bird room. I am SOOOOOOO sick of being woken up at 6:30 every morning when I don't have to get up. The African Grey starts talking as soon as it's light, and the B&G honks, and the ****atiels whistle and chirp. It's a friggin rainforest in my room.
If I got the cage out of the office, I'd have some more room in there for a craft desk. I don't know.
Yikes!!!! lol it looks to be a great room.... Love the window, I don't know what I would do if I was in your shoes with the birds... I think I would have to make it half and half.... lol But then it's like I got more crafts than my two dogs...

That's the problem with the birds. They're too dusty, then they fling food and feathers everywhere. I don't think I'd want to paint babies with them in the same room. Then there's the issue of any fumes that might be given off when heat gunning. *sigh* decisions, decisions.
I used to raise parakeets and I know the mess all those little birds used to make with the dust and feathers. But at least they didn't scream like your African G. I wasn't painting at the time of the birds so it wasn't any problem. I think I would let them have the office where they are now. And yes, I too would be worried about the fumes from toxic kits (non-Secrist made in the USA). Thats why miners used birds years ago (canaries I believe) so they knew when the birds died it was time for the guys to leave. Sad :(
Yep. Rob and I don't have our own children, so the birds have become them. I call the Grey HIS son, mostly because he annoys me, even though *I* picked him out at the bird show when he was just a baby.
And yes, it was canaries. Since birds respiratory systems are so much more fragile than ours, I'm extra cautious with them. I had a friend once that got mad and shoved some stuff into a cabinet in her bird room, and came back a few hours later to find them all dead. Whatever she'd shoved into the cabinet in haste, had hit an aerosol can of something (without a lid) and the fumes killed them. It was sooooo tragic, and I'm not taking that chance with mine.
I guess the next step now is to actually measure the rooms and see how stuff fits everywhere. I don't really want the birds in the office due to the dustiness, and the computers don't like it too much when they get feathers in their fans....lol
Oh yes, lots to consider hun. Maybe you can still put them in your painting room but put a partition or something so the dust/feathers won't be too much in your paints and on your dolls.
What I'd REALLY like to do, is put the birds in the office we use now, and put the computers in the other room with the big window. The drawback to that is there can't be a window unit in there, due to the big window, but it might be ok. I don't know.
The upside to that is, Rob and I would get to be in the same room, and I really like that!
Ok. It's official. I am going to be moving the birds ALL to one room. Haven't decided which, just as long as it's OUT of the bedroom. I'm operating on roughly 4 hours of sleep, and couldn't sleep longer than that due to the birds.
Do you cover them at night? I had 2 ****atiel's, one grey and one pearl a few years back, raised them from babies and I know with them I covered them up with a dark cage cover at night and kept them covered until I got up the next morning and they were as quiet as could be...that is until they saw daylight =) then look out LOL!
Yeah.....The grey is covered at night, but when he hears movement in the morning, when Rob goes to work (he leaves at 5 am, but is up earlier) he starts talking and whistling, which gets everyone else going.
I'm really surprised he hasn't learned to say, "Shut up, you stupid bird!" lol
Notice how quiet I've been about the birds. Birds don't like me. I even avoid the aviary house at the zoo. My sister has birds, and she used to bring them when she visited Mom. She would actually let them out of the bird cages. My mother was scared to death, and those birds knew it. I guess I take after Mother.
They drop "happiness" on my head. I think they use my head for target practice. I cannot tell you the number of times that random birds have done this to me over the years. I think I probably mentioned at least once in this forum that an entire flock of pigeons once dumped on my car and my head outside a restaurant when I was attending a convention. The hotel valets felt so sorry for me that they actually took my car to wash it. Of course, I will never live down the plops in the hair. The convention delegates presented me with a special gift the next day at the business meeting--a huge, wide-brimmed hat. It's funny now, but I wouldn't want to repeat the experience.
Wow, I'm awed at those of you who aren't afraid to handle them and even keep them as pets.

LOL...My sister's started saying "that's it" because she would get mad and tell him "that's it your gonna get sent to the basement if you don't quiet down!"Course she never did but I would laugh my head off because she was so serious and the bird mocked her like a child and this only made her madder so she would start scolding him like a child. :chuckling: He was like a watchdog though as well if he heard her outside jingling her key's to get in house or someone walking up the outside steps to the door would go off like a siren.
I will be moving the birds to the big window room tomorrow. My eldest is here tonight, and tomorrow we'll be cleaning and rearranging. Rob's opinion was that he wanted the office to stay the office, so it will be.
Liselle, I see that you have a ****atiel , I have a gray male he is 2 1/2 years old he is very smart he talks he says hello pj (his name) hello pj boy, hey buddy , hey pj buddy boy, he is trying to say hey baby but says hey bobby, when he is out of his cage on the floor I'll tell him to go home he goes to the cage and climbs the ladder and goes into his cage, he won't do it everytime though I'm still working with him. I would love to have a gray parrot but they are so expensive.
We actually have 3 tiels, 2 males and a female. BB doesn't talk, but Aramis says Aramis, and Gimme kiss and makes the kissy sound. Of course, Aramis and Gimme kiss sound alike, but the difference is the noise he makes after he says it.
That is so cute, This is my 4th tiel I had one about 25 years ago that got away when my son was bringing his bike inside he was a talker but not like the one I have now, I was so hurt I cried for days and missed a day of work, I now keep the wings clipped, the other two I had together I had them for about 5 years and just got tired of the mess I gave them to a older lady that lived alone they died within a month, I really did not know they get so attached to their owner, I will never do that again. I think PJ thinks I'm his girlfriend he does not like my husband, so I'll be his girlfriend for life.
Tomorrow, I'll be getting the bookcase out of their room, and bringing it in here to the office, then I can officially start setting up my baby area. I haven't felt like doing much since we had to put our 15 year old cat down Monday. I'm just not in a mood to do much of anything.
so sorry to hear about your kitty, are you ok? it's rough going thru that. i lost my green cheek conure baby this year. i had him just long enough to bond. i realy feel for you. sage
I'm sorry about your cat, I have had to put 2 dogs down in the last 4 years, I have one that is 15 and I don't know what I will do when that day comes I love him so much he has been with us since he was 6 weeks old he has some health problems but he keeps bouncing back from some if his problems.
