So my oldest son moved out, and since my teenage daughter no longer wants to come over, the only one who will be sleeping here is my youngest, I have decided to convert his room into my craft room. For the longest time, I really wanted to put the birds in there, since I'm NOT fond of them being in the bedroom. But then I thought about it, and realized that I don't have a room for me. So.....when I get the energy to dismantle his bed and carry it to the shed, that's what I'm doing. I'm going to be looking for cabinets and counter tops, and go from there. Kinda excited!!
It's always nice when we get a little room for ourselves isn't it. I did the same sort of thing when my eldest moved out. It's my craft/computer room. I just love it! Have fun redecorating it!!
When my daugther moved out a year ago I made her bedroom a nursery for my collectable babies, then I added a table for making my babies , now I'll lose an area because I have a grandson now, I will have to put a crib in there, so I will pack up most of my collectables, my little JJ comes first, if only he was a girl I could send them to my daugther's house, enjoy your room.
Whew. I'm tired out already. Just dismantled his old bunk bed (had the youngest in there when he was here) and picked up some stuff off the floor.....Wow. It's gonna be a job.
It's too hot to carry stuff to the shed all the way at the end of the back yard, and I don't think Rob will be up to it tonight since he worked all day. I'll eventually get it outside!!

Ok, forgive the messiness of the room, I just wanted to give you an idea of what I'll be moving into.
The shot is a panoramic, so the window isn't really crooked. I'm just lousy at getting the edge straight. lol
I'm still thinking I could put the birds in the extra room, and have my crafts in I'm still thinking I could put the birds in the extra room, and have my crafts in the office, which is where we spend most of the time.
The other pic is the office, and as you can see it needs some work as well....lol
*edited to remove pix....they're in the showcase.*
Sounds great! My husband kinda took over our daughters room when she moved out 2 years ago. Well... he got his stuff alllll comfortable and that, then she broke up with her live-in boyfriend and she moved back! I don't mind but there went his room. Although it was an "extra" room for him. He's got too much (you know what) in his room so it kinda over flowed into hers. hahaha
I have a room that's 21 ft long (don't get too excited) but only 7 ft wide. I have LOTS of stuff in their, including my desk/bench, sewing machine with cabinet, large clam press for putting the decals on wearable apparel, lots and lots of doll kits, shipping boxes, apparel (waiting for shirt transfers), and a corner I have not been able to get to for over 7 years! I took those milk crates and put them on their sides for cubbies. But I have LOTS of "stuff" in them and it has to go!!! I did have over 8 18gallon totes with fabric/quilt tops/etc in there but took them out to storage. I want to redo the entire room so I CAN do something in there. So I know what you're talking about! Lots of moving stuff, and re-arranging!
Agreed!!! I have to get the handtrucks before I can do any more work in there. I can't cart all this stuff to the shed by myself, but the handtrucks should help tremendously!!
Wish I could use a hand truck. I gotta move everything out 1 peice at a time. A hand truck sure would make it easier. I'm used to doing that with my set up and tear down for my shows but then most stuff is in totes already. It would definately make it easier for you with having to move your stuff some distance. Hopefully you have one or can borrow one from someone
Sounds like a fun project, Liselle. I have doll stuff everywhere, and need to get it under control. My mess comes from the revolving door of daughters moving in and out. When I finally had the last one leave, I was really excited about all the things I could do with the room. Shortly after that Daughter #2 and husband produced Katy Rose so the wonderful room has now been claimed by our granddaughter. Today we had a tea party in her room with Pooh Bear, Cheer Bear (one of the Care Bears), and her little Berenguer baby doll. I'm still dreaming of having a craft/work room so can't wait to see how yours turns out so I can get some ideas.
